Went in around 3:30 today to pick up a handful of items for my cat ( $200 worth ) and an older gentleman was being very rude to the cashier (valerie). She was so patient and nice with him even though he was causing a scene. Then we I got to the register she let me know that the flea collar I got for my cat was only $50 online vs $75 in store. Took our dog to get groomed and they didn't do a very good job. I requested a schnauzer with special attention to trim around my dogs beard and a sharp schnauzer eyebrow. His haircut was uneven, they missed around his buttocks area, his ears were barely trimmed, eyebrows were cut too short, and his beard was uneven. We have two King Boxers (don't know what that is? We didn't either until the vet told us it's boxers on steroids lol) weighing 120 solid pounds and 90 pounds. So we are at PetSmart every other week without fail. Our top shelf dog food is always on stock. The store is always clean. We pretty much only buy dog. My only complaint the check out. I take my mom's cocker spaniels for regular grooming & the they are so kind & do a great job.Frank the manager is very helpful & chill, as are the cashiers. I have one suggestion? I take my longhaired dachshund to see Tabitha in the grooming salon. Tabitha does an amazing job and is very patient him. My dog has some health issues and she is very considerate of his needs. I had an appointment for 3pm on a Sunday for my 2 small dogs. I knew one of my dogs' rabies was expired and I had the current certificate but I had forgotten it at home. When I arrived I realized my mistake and asked if I could run home and get it but the guy working said no because they wouldn't take my dog after 3. I have been coming here for over 4 years and every time I've come the same groomer groomed both of my dogs at each appt. so I didn't understand why they wouldn't let me run home and they could start on my other dog while I was gone. They refused to work with me so I was forced to only leave my maltese. On the way back I was 5 minutes late because there was an accident on the freeway. When I arrived they practically threw my dog at me and ran out the door. When I was in line to pay I looked at her face and they had ripped the skin off of her face next to her eye! I don't know how that could happen! She's had small cuts before but this time it was really bad! I now have to take her to the vet to get antibiotics! Needless to say I will not be back! I'm disappointed that he didn't even apologize for doing this to my dog. Terrible customer service! read more

I took our new pup, Finnegan in for a 9 a.m. Appt. for a basic groom. We rescued him about 8wks ago so we're still getting to know him. We were both nervous. He's real smart & sensitive. I warned Kammy that I wasn't confident about his behavior cause I just didn't know. He's a chiorgi shorthair so the main thing he needed was a nail cut. Kammy called me an hour later & Finn was all ready to go. He was bathed with his back nails trimmed but she said I should bring him back later for his front paws cause he got a little anxious. I appreciated that so much!! Finn was glad to see me but not traumatized. Kammy in my view is exceptional. Love her. We will def. go back & hope she'll be there. My receipt marked two charges of special handling which I thought would later be explained to me but apparently not. These groomers don't bother explaining why they add extra charges. They just expect you to pay whatever they dictate. On top of that, my pet didn't look any different or even smell good after her Furminator bath. Please avoid. read more

I had been bringing my dog to PetSmart from the day I brought her home 4 years ago. At first, and for a long time, they were my go to place. I took her in once a month like clockwork. I alway was very please with the quality of service, and the pricing from their grooming department, but......... Something has drastically changed there in the last year. They are going through groomers like crazy. Used to be when I brought my pooch in, they new her name, and exactly what she needed. The quality of service, and the professionalism has gone down dramatically. That is bad enough on its own, but when you find the pricing going through the roof, and getting hit with sneaky, unrealistic add ons, it is really to much to ask for customer loyalty. The final deal breaker came when I made an appointment for my dog for a bath and a trim. She was in her usual condition as far as what she needed. I had always been charged $35 for her grooming. I went over everything I wanted and expected with the groomer on the phone. I told the groomer I would be out of town, and would have my daughter pick her up. I asked for a price, so I could leave money with my daughter. I was quoted the usual $35 for the service. When my daughter went to pick her up, she was told the charge would be $49! There was an additional $7 for brushing her out, and $7 additional for special anti itch shampoo!! What the hell? I could buy the whole damn bottle of shampoo in their store for that, and to top it off she started scratch the minute she got home, and hasn't stopped. It is one thing to charge extra, and tell the customer up front that there could be extra charges, but nothing was said on the phone, or when the dog was dropped off. Bad business practices do not keep customers that you spend lots of advertising money to get in the door. I gotta say, I never checked their Yelp review before now, I wish I had. I am amazed at all the negative reviews. It is a shame that corporate doesn't see these reviews, and make some corrections, unless of course this is their policies in place. I am done with this business, and no amount of advertising will get me back in the store!! I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere for your pet grooming needs!! read more

So beyond angry. My fish aquarium had about 10 fishes. Bought 5 more from petsmart after adding them with the other fishes they started to die with in a week. No none of the fishes are bullies. I went to Petsmart to purchase fish for my science classroom. The girl helping me was immediately questioning my situation when I asked to purchase two 99 cent Platys. (Really?) I then told her I wanted an algae eater (Pleco) as well. She immediately balked and told me that I can't purchase one because they grow up to 2 feet and quickly and my 20 gallon tank is too small. I asked her if she was refusing to sell it to me. She said she would sell it, but not guarantee any of my fish (Petsmart policy), and that all my fish were going to die. I cannot tell you how shocked I was by her rudeness and lack of respect for me as a customer, especially acting like I had no knowledge of what I was doing. Petsmart has lost me as a customer! I drove to the other pet store and was treated with respect and was able to purchase what I needed for my classroom. I will no longer go to Petsmart for my many, many needs. You pay 50 dollars and don't receive the cut you want for your dog, all uneven and just absolutely horrible. I've been taking my dog here for a year but will not be coming back after today's appointment. I had an appointment at 8am for my husky to get a bath and brush which normally takes two hours. Three hours into the appointment I was worried and called and was told that he was still drying (I don't understand how this could possibly take three hours even with a double-coated dog). Four hours into his appointment I received a call back and was told that my dog had an accident (the girl on the phone didn't even know his name, she referred to him as "that husky") and needed another bath. I told them I will just pick up my dog as is. No wonder my dog had an accident he was sitting in a damn kennel for four hours! When I picked him up I asked why my dogs bath took four hours and they said he was bathed by a new groomer and he didn't like being dried. I asked to speak to the manager who was actually very nice and refunded me. While waiting for my dog however the groomers were screaming at the dogs in the back and running back and forth from the front to the back clearly stressed out. I asked the girl what was going on and she said all the dogs are being naughty today. Do you think dogs respond well to being screamed at? Probably not. Finally someone brought my dog to me and he was still wet but at this point I didn't care. Apparently they have new groomers who aren't experienced. I don't think it takes experience to know that you shouldn't be screaming at the animals. My dog was so stressed out he had stress colitis! I will never be taking my dog here again. If you care about the health and safety of your dog please don't go here. I would never want anyone else's pet to go through what mine just did. read more

Rating solely on our experience with the fish department, which is excellent! We just got a 15 gallon tank a few months ago and have been in quite a few times since then, and our experience has always been great. The fish are a great deal (especially compared to other local stores) and overall have worked out great for us. The one that did not do well in our tank we were easily able to exchange. The workers are always super knowledgable and helpful...they even took a fish we go from another store that would not let us exchange/return and found the fish an owner with a good environment for the fish. All around awesome service and expertise and honestly seem like they love their jobs are happy and eager to help you. The best Petsmart I've ever been to as service is concerned! read more

Today is the last time I will take my yorkie to Petsmart Santa Maria. When I arrived I observed a groomer attempting to trim a little white dogs face. She was grasping it's beard so tightly in an attempt to hold the dog still the dog was in pain. She never spoke a word to the dog. Because my little girl has been trimmed faithfully over 10 years I stupidly left her with them. When I picked her up she was beautiful but again I observed the same groomer with another dog. She was struggling with this dog also. I wish there was a way for me to rate the PetSmart groomers of Santa Maria with zero stars. They were extremely rude and unprofessional. Recently, I called to make an appointment on a Monday for my Lab to get groomed. The girl on the phone said "we don't have anything available today, but we can do tomorrow." Unfortunately, when I showed up on Tuesday afternoon with my dog the girl at the desk told me that my appointment was for Wednesday. I know that I didn't mix up my days since I had made the appointment the day before and, I had a separate appointment on Wednesday elsewhere, so there was no way it was my fault. When I explained the situation to the groomer and manager that I had left work early and that there was absolutely no way that I could bring him back on Wednesday, their response was "sorry, we can't help you." In the meantime, I was looking at an empty grooming room with one dog and four workers. You really can't squeeze in one extra dog in the next five hours? Especially because it was clearly their scheduling error? The manager offered me 15% off for coming back the next day. When I explained again that I can't just leave work early every day, she just said "sorry, there is nothing I can do." I will not be returning to PetSmart for grooming services. read more

I mean I have been bringing my dog here for years, never once had an issue. On Monday I brought him here for his usual treatments, there was just one little issue when we went to pick him up. He had no collar or his license on him. Right when we found out we called and they swore that he never even had it on him. Instead of just saying, they lost it they just blamed us for not taking him with it. So we kept bugging them and they would deny and say the manager was going to call us with their decision on what they were going to do. So this happened on Monday but they kept saying they didn't have it. Finally after too many calls they were like oh the GM speaks Spanish so we will call your mom and of course no call. So today I called again and guess what they found it yesterday. It's past noon the day after they found it and they hadn't thought of calling us to tell us they found it. HORRIBLE customer service. So disappointed. Used to take my dogs to the petsmart in colorado with no complaints. First time taking my dogs here, one for grooming and one for a bath. Basically thought the females that took them back were inexperienced and wanted to ask how much experience they had. When I did come to pick my dogs up, was greeted by an average hair cut and then lectured by an overweight "manager" who I honestly felt sorry for, about keeping my dogs there for a few hours after they were done. This was on a weekday, when I couldn't leave my office for two hours to pick my boys up, so I had to leave work early to get them. After a long day of meeting after meeting, I did not need a guy lecturing me on having my dogs stay a couple hours after they were groomed. Seriously??? Horrible customer service.
