So I came in for a walk-in service for a face trim and nail grinding. The girl tells me that they are only offering walk in services at the moment because it was 7pm. Well... why the f does the pet smart website state that a face trim is a walk in-service then?!?! The girl looked at her coworker and she was reluctant to take my pup in. Maybe she wasn't happy about it, but the website clearly says that it's a walk in service. I then asked to have my pups nails' to be grinded. Why did I come back to having my pup bleeding from the side of his paw? Wtf. My furbaby is a little guy. He weighs 2.5lbs. Some places have told me that they won't grind his nails bc he's too small. Other places don't have a problem with it. If you thought you were getting too close to him, PLEASE just STOP. This furball is my baby and all I'm thinking about is infection. Take your pet here if you want to me abused by the staff. It used to be great but the gentle kind groomer left due to health reasons. I showed up for my grooming appointment at 8am, they were taking in so many dogs. As I enter they tell me my groomer called in sick, yet recieved no phone call the day before. None. As I enter the salon Fenn tells me that my pet has to be booked with a manager. Another thing I have never been told. For an extra fee he can take him for me today, um sorry? That seems unreasonable and never discussed with me. The previous time I came with my let he had an infection in his paws and the groomer touched his feet and he barred his teeth. Theybdisnt let him get groomed.He did not bite him. If he had someone would have called me and he would be banned from the salon. Which never happened. Not to mention the reason he is scared is because he was cut horribly on the eye by a petsmart groomer!!! So frustrating Fenn was noticeable stressed and curt. Had terrible customer service skills and completely unable to handle any conflict or empathize with the fact that none of the above was conveyed to me. Please get your act together grooming salon. Putting my cat in a cat carrier and driving them some where is not one of my favorite activities...nor hers as she has well established. So looking around for a place to drop in for a well needed nail clipping I discovered on line that this location said you could drop in. Much to my dismay when we got there I was quickly told the cat groomer is only in a couple of days and they knew their website had bad info. That was it. Took my dog Buttons to the groomer at 5:00pm on July 30th. Noticed a pink line on the back of her butt the next morning. Wednesday it started bleeding and oozing so I called the groomer and they said take Buttons to Banfield vet also on 130th and Aurora. Petsmart said if the wond was caused by the grooming the vet services will be free of charge. When I took Buttons in to Banfield vet, the first thing they said is the fee is waived. Then the vet said your dog has an infected anal gland (mind you the wound is no where near her anal gland. Any way after the vet recanted and suggested it could be something else, I took Buttons to her regular vet and 205.00 got her antibiotics for the infected area which started out as a pink strip. I would avoid this Petsmart at all costs. They will NOT own up to nicking your dog with clippers. I am writing this review with and on behalf of Buttons owner Carolyn Waters. read more

This is the closest Petsmart to me, and it's really annoying that there are tons of Petcos around, but Petsmarts only seem to be up and down on Aurora! Anyway, this one is conveniently located next to two grocery stores I wanted to go to so it worked out to make this a one stop shopping trip. I like that it is easy to find the section of the store you're looking for with big signs hung overhead. You will of course pass the cute furry critters in their clear cages as you get to where you're going. I was excited to see some dwarf hamsters yesterday - they look just like the little guy in the new Kia Soul commercial. They also had a sweet little chinchilla who came over to say hi when I knelt down. Having had three chinchillas in the past I have an affinity for these little sweethearts. I understand that all the blogs and critics say it's a bad idea to get certain pets at a big petstore, but they seem to be happy, well adjusted, and in clean cages here. I came in searching for new grain-free cat food and was happy there were so many decent options. This wasn't the case a few years ago. I left with my big bag of food, eyeing the cute holiday stocking stuffers full of cat toys all the way to the register! read more

I am a mom, but my kids are fur-kids :-) Just like other moms, I like to shop for my babies. I shopped here today buying puppy pads and carpet stain/odor removal for them (well, kinda for myself). There were not a lot of staff around. However, one of them was able to help with me my curiosity about a new product called "bark off" According to him, there are a lot of returns for this specific item. Because of his honesty, it saves me a trip to return. In addition, he recommended me the other product, which would work well on dogs. I was very happy with his assistance. I hate to admit it, but I do come here every few months for supplies that my local pet store doesn't carry. In particular, instant bathing wipes for my kitties. (They really hate baths but need them.) The store itself is huge and similar to every other PetSmart in the world. I always feel that the kitty section is small and lacks some things I would like. Their liter boxes leave a lot to be desired. But they do carry some reasonable carriers, some decent food choices, and of course instant kitty bath wipes. And their cat trees are fairly nice but I've seen better online. I do sometimes buy a few things for the fish here. Mostly cleaning equipment and replacement tubing. I hate the fake plants here. And just can't take care of real ones yet. I also am not sure if I would ever buy fish here. Though the staff that work the fish department are amazing and knowledgeable, PetSmart fish really aren't in the best environment. It's best to window shop, talk to the staff about what you are looking for and find a local fish only store or even mail order. read more

Each time it asked me to specify the name of the person who will pick it up, my husband, who shares a last name with me. Every time, they give him a really hard time about picking it up. Unfortunately, I won't take my dog back for grooming. I took him in to get bathed, brushed and his nails trimmed and I thought all was well till we got home & saw they used clippers on his paws and on his genital area (I didn't request these areas to be clipped) and he now has 3 different hot spots where it's extremely irritated and bright red. Two between his paw pads and one on his genitals. I feel so bad for him now and wish I wouldn't have taken him there. Will be finding a new spot. read more

First off, I don't recommend taking your dog for a grooming here. We went in for a puppy trim, and there were noticeable choppy areas around her face that hadn't been cut evenly. Customer service here is really helpful though. One thing I like about this particular PetSmart is the fact that they have employees who are always on the floor ready to help you. Almost every time we walk in, we're greeted by an employee and they always ask if there's anything they could help us with. I'm glad they're always around to help! I also had my puppy take the puppy training classes here. Alysa was a great trainer! She really knows what she's doing. Went to this Petsmart in North Seattle today to shop for pet strollers for my elderly dog. Asked to have them open the box to have a better look and see how well it would work with my pet. Clerk refused and manager confirmed they wouldn't allow me to actually touch/work with the stroller to assess it properly. WTH? I'm supposed to buy a stroller based on the box exterior? Need a cat groomer for trimming nails? Find another place. My cat is traumatized now from going there, and the groomer wasn't even there. I went in days earlier to ask about getting both my cats nails clipped. They are feral and won't let me clip them, and it desperately needs to be done. The lady closest to the counter told me the person who does cats can do it Tuesday after 5. She turned and said "that's our cat grooming person over there. Can you do Tuesday after 5?" Cat person replied "yes", Tuesday came and at 4:30 I gently put one cat in the carrier. This was their first time in a carrier since the adoption agency dropped them off 9 months ago. The other cat got wise and wouldn't let me get him. He was hissing and growling at me. 20 minutes later I finally had him cornered in the bathroom, picked him up by the scruff of his neck, covered his face with a towel to calm him, and put him in the carrier- when the first cat jumped out. I didn't have time to catch her, do just took the one. When we got there I was told, without any kind of apology, that "the cat groomer went home early because it was slow". And I could "come back next week". Taking my poor cat to my car, I cried. Almost a week later and my cat still won't let me pick him up. He'll go hide under the bed. He's never done that before. I'm not going back on Tuesday. And I'm not going to call and cancel. The woman didn't even apologize to me, and blamed me got not calling first to check if she'd be there. The fact that this company is still in business is pretty disgusting. Long story short, they sell sick animals, treat their employees like shit, prices are way too high, and their store is dirty and disgusting. If you're interested in details go ahead and read this essay. I used to love shopping at petsmart, I used to be one of those people to go in just to look at the animals. However, this place has completely turned me off of the company, and I will never come back to this, or any petsmart location. Their grooming salon is a joke, maybe two groomers have been there longer than 6 months, they all leave! Every time you visit this location they suddenly have brand new cashiers and managers you've never seen before. Considering how shitty petsmart treats the animals in their care, I'm sure they're just as awful to their employees. I've also seen one of their newer girls screaming and cursing at their dogs very obviously through the viewing glass, literally shameless. I personally have purchased several fish, small animals, and reptiles through petsmart. My turtle is one of the very few who's survived, thank God! I've purchased two birds at this location, one a Finch, and another a green parakeet. Both died IMMEDIATELY after bringing them home from petsmart. The Finch within three days, and the parakeet within about a month, very conveniently outside of their return/refund policy. Ive purchased two hamsters here as well, a russian hamster and a syrian. The poor syrian died about three weeks after bringing her home. I can't even tell you how many sick fish I've gotten here over the years. I've had bettas completely turn black and die, after being put into a well established heated and filtered tank! I had a beautiful goldfish immediately die after being put into my goldfish pond, with very other healthy other goldfish. Not to mention their bathroom, god. There's only two stalls, fine whatever, but the handicapped one has a permanent blood smear across the wall, with huge holes punched into the wall stuffed with toliet paper? Oh, and neither of the bathrooms have trash cans, seat liners, or a toilet paper holder! So their toliet paper is usually rolling around on the ground or casually sitting on the back of their toliet for God knows who to man handle before you get to it. Their prices are also crazy. I get that is Seattle, and everything is generally higher priced, but literally Amazon is HALF the price of nearly everything they sell here. If you care about yourself and your animals, I wouldn't shop here or purchase any live animals here. It only leaves you heartbroken when the animal you've gotten attached to suddenly passes without any obviously signs of old age or illness. Im really sorry that I ever wasted my time or money here. You're better off at ANY private grooming salon. Or at any locally owned pet store. Even PetCo has better standards than these fucking people. Stay far away. read more

I went to this petsmart close to closing time today in anticipation of picking out new harness and leash for a dog I plan in fostering in the upcoming week. And after I found what I was searching for m, to my delight there was a 75% off section on certain collars. I couldn't find the ones that was going to fit my foster as she's itsy bitsy. But there were plenty I picked out for the dog rescue I volunteer with and what I think they may need, esp for medium to large and extra large doggies. They were beautiful collars from brands such as King and Martha steward and I ended up purchase 12-13 of them. The manager and cashier that assisted me were very friendly and helpful and never rushed me as I know they were closing. Totally made my day. I am still grieving over the loss of my furbaby recently and nothing much bring me joy these days. But this did as I know how many rescues and puppy mill dogs will be able to look stylish in these awesome new collars as well as their foster families! read more

I went into Banfield before 9 AM when Petsmart wasn't open yet and cashier said he would still take care of me before they open and also honored my 20% discount that I have with Banfeild. I made a cat bath appointment on yesterday at 1:30pm for my cat which adopted from here. Yesterday morning someone called me to canceled the appointment because the groomer was sick. I made another appointment which is today at 1pm. This morning they called me again and said the same thing to cancel my appointment... I don't normally shop at Petsmart as there aren't many locations and their competition seems to be everywhere and just more convenient. However, the other day I saw online that they offer in-store pick up when you order online. I thought, wow, that's cool. I can place an order at work, then go pick it up on my way home (or, really, out of my way home). I placed my order around 3pm and the check-out confirmation assured me most orders are fulfilled within 2 hours (unless you place your order close to closing time). I figured I was well before closing time and when I left work at 5pm had still not received confirmation that my order was ready. I really needed to get cat food, so I drove up there regardless of my order not being ready, hoping that by time I sat in traffic and picked up some pet food, I would get the magical email saying my stuff was ready. Nah. I did pick up some additional pet food (the order still wasn't ready). The inside of this location is depressing. It's dimly lit (which I'm all for saving power, but there is no natural light) and sparsely staffed. I picked up enough stuff to hold the cats over until I could pick up my online order and the boy at the check out was not excited to be working. He was sullen, didn't make eye contact and very frustrated with his register. He couldn't get something to scan, so after the 5th time trying audibly mumbles Jesus Christ and threw my stuff into the bag. I'm not offended by his language, but I think there are many types of people that would be and he probably shouldn't use language like that. I didn't see a customer service booth (which is where the online ordering tells you to fetch your order), so I asked him where I would go to pick up online orders. He says, check stand 5. We were at check stand 1. I glanced over and check stand 5 is empty, dark and has junk all over it. I walked over, after paying for my stuff, and after waiting a few minutes of being ignored, I just went home. My order was eventually ready, mid-next day. So much for convenient. read more

As I was checking out with an elderly cashier, not only did she make me feel unwelcome but question my every transaction and purchases, NOT OKAY! After she rung up my items i asked if she was going to bag my items and she told me no and told me it was 5 cent for a bag, no problem but she didn't have to use a bitchy attitude. This is for the puppy training class. We had April as our instructor and were quite unimpressed. First, she didn't show up to the first class and failed to call us. Second, when we showed up for the second class, she was coughing and told everyone how she'd been sick for a month. That's unfortunate, but please don't come to class and infect us or our pets!! She proceeded to kiss several puppies!! Gross. Third, there were only 4 puppies in the class and she couldn't keep names or genders straight. I told her multiple times that my puppy was a boy, but she kept calling him "she". Fourth, she forgot to have clickers for everyone. Fifth, she had absolutely no plan for rescheduling a Christmas Eve class until I brought it up at the every end of class. Worst of all, she has absolutely no knowledge of how to deal with a shy puppy, which we have. She said her "fetish" was when pets sit/hide under their owners' chairs, so she proceeded to DRAG our puppy out multiple times. At the time, I knew this was wrong, but I didn't know whether I should stop her. I now wish I would have! Forcing shy puppies into unknown situations is not an effective training method, but actually causes the puppy to be even more afraid. I am getting a full refund and will be taking my puppy to Ahimsa, where the trainers told me they would never drag a puppy out before he was ready, but rather, would make sure he felt safe first, through reassurance and even the use of barriers. Ahimsa is more expensive, but I am confident it will be well-worth it. read more

*FOR GROOMING ONLY! I would give their groomers one star if it weren't for the friendly staff. Unfortunately, my dog did not have an equally good experience with them. They did not try to make it easier for my dog as they took him to the back or did the actual grooming process. No treats or positive reinforcement of any kind, just pulling with force. I get a call an hour later after I drop him off that he PASSED OUT from overheating during the drying process. Luckily Petsmart is connected to the banfield vet. I picked him up from the vet still damp because they couldn't continue the grooming process. My dog is a 80lb golden retriever, he is not a baby and loves people. I can't imagine how much stress he must have been under to get to the point of fainting. read more

Never again! I have been taking my girls to this Petsmart for years! Kelsey and the other groomers know them and take really good care of them. A couple of weeks ago we did our normal drop in for nail grinding since the last one was in June, but all six stations were full. Of course, we were bummed, but glad so many people are taking care of their pets. So to be sure today, I called ahead and was told they could get them in! First a trip to the dog park to wear them out, then headed over to the store. After standing at the counter for a few minutes the girl, I believe Patricia, said Canella wasn't current on her rabies, from back in April. I told her that wasn't true and that they were seen at this store in June, so something is wrong with your system. One of the other groomers, after listening to us, said YES, they were having computer problems for a couple of months. Then the girl at the counter asked if the vet was open to confirm. Hello, IT'S SUNDAY!! She replied, "We can only see Sienna, as Canella isn't current". REALLY? It's your computer error. They didn't care, so I left. We'll miss our normal groomers, not one person in there today have I seen before, but we will NOT BE BACK. After years of coming to this store - I'm done. read more

After searching for a decent dog groomer for over an hour on Yelp and discovering most smaller businesses are closed on Monday or closed down completely OR have really crappy customer service, I decided on my old faithful Petsmart chain. Despite some of the iffy reviews with the grooming dept, we set out for some walk-in services. Katt helped us out and was really friendly and took good care of my pooches with a smile. She even gave us the toothbrushes she used and sprayed a little 'air freshener' on the caboose of my dog after an unfavorable routine dog service. No other store has done those little extra things. I'll be going back and hopefully Katt will be there again. The store and floors were pretty clean and the other employees there were nice as well. read more

If I were to review this Petsmart a year ago, I would have given it 3 stars. However, I believe the staff has made significant gains in customer service. The change to me, as a regular customer was noticeable. The service has improved in terms of people helping you on the floor and moving people through the cash registers efficiently, while maintaining polite, friendly conversation. Aside from the service, I am most often going to this store for my cat. I buy cat food and cat treats but under no circumstances, cat outfits. :-) I'm simply not the "dress up your cat in comfy costumes type." Plus, she already gets pissed at me for the tiny santa hat each year. Dogs and dog owners seem to like this store and the groomers are always busy when I am there. Cat adoptions are a staple at this location. I appreciate that very much. I adopted my own cat from a different PetSmart location in 2001. All in all, a fairly solid location. read more

This is mostly for the puppy training class. So I took my first dog to a different Petsmart for puppy training class and it taught her a lot. She can successfully sit, down, stay, come and walk on a leash like a normal dog and that's really all I expected. So when i took my new dog to this Petsmart for training class, I expected similar results. We have now finished the class and my dog doesn't know how to do anything. He doesn't sit. Definitely doesn't know how to come, down or stay, and can barely walk on a leash. I also really wanted to get him socialized with other dogs since he is really shy, but there was only 1 other dog in the class who was 5 times his size an he was TERRIFIED of the other dog. So that didn't happen either. Overall - really terrible. I would not ever go back to Petsmart for dog training cause it accomplished nothing! They get 2 stars because other than the training class I like that Petsmart and will continue to go there to purchase food, dog toys, etc. Much cheaper than the popular boutique pet stores around Seattle. read more

I went in to PetSmart for grooming services for my 1.5-year-old terrier mix, Chomper. The PetSmart is located within a shopping complex off of 130th & Aurora next to an Albertsons, with plenty of parking. The grooming salon is clean and well-staffed, and all of the dogs I saw at the grooming tables looked relaxed and happy. PetSmart's online booking system is extremely convenient, and the salon staff is friendly and helpful in selecting the right services for your dog. I had scheduled Chomper for a bath and nail grinding, and they were done within the hour. I really appreciated the photo and report card from my groomer, Gypsy, which detailed the services received. I will definitely be coming back to this PetSmart for Chomper's future grooming needs! read more

Came in looking to buy dog beds so my dogs have a bed to sleep on in the hotel but unfortunately they dont sell large dog beds, and the ones they did have are fit for smaller dogs and seemed too expensive. Their dog treats selection could also be better. I prefer to give my dogs organic and all natural treats if i dont have time to make them myself, and sadly they only had basic brands thatcaee filled with crap (to put it nicely) and the few "organic" ones they do offer still contained corn gluten artificial byproduct, phosphoric acid, wheat gluten, and enough dyes and coloes to artificially create 100 rainbows. The prices are also a bit on the steep side compared to the other Petsmarts i've visited. Overall, store was clean, staff was friendly, but prices are a bit steep. I have two 70 pound poodles that I scheduled online. Before their appointment, I was called twice requesting that I reschedule each of their appointments bc the ones I picked online "actually didn't exist". Told them it was totally fine, rescheduled. On dog #1's new appt day, they took SIX HOURS to cut his hair (told me to expect 3-4), and he wasn't done till 8pm. He was shaking when I picked him up (not the case at different locations). Next day, the groomer is 35 minutes late to work (they rescheduled my appointment to be the first one of the day, before the store opened). I waited outside the store in my car for a half hour (in 30 degree weather with my four month old). when the groomer arrived, she didn't even apologize. Told me to expect 3-4 hours again. He was done 5 hours later, with an extra $15 for "special handling". He was also shaking before/after pick up. Poor customer service, poor professionalism, no idea what they did with my dogs for 5-6 hours. Take your dog somewhere else for grooming. read more

Mandi is the best teacher--she was patient, answered all my questions, and encouraged me when I nearly broke into tears at the first class because my dog was acting up so much! I was expecting with a pet store chain that staff would be minimal and not very educated or helpful. But I was very pleasantly surprised when I went to the Petsmart on Aurora ave. I asked them about dog food associated with DCM and the clerk was knowledgeable about the brands. Three different clerks helped me find items. The groomer went to the aisle and brought the recommended Matt cutter he uses for the type of dog I have. And when I couldn't find dog toothbrushes he brought some brushes that he gave to me for free. I was buying items to help dog owners in the very poor country of Madagascar, and the manager gave me a discount. I will shop here again! read more

I usually get my supplies from a place in Ballard but sometimes I stop in on the way home. My experience with employees has been pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary. I didn't have to find anyone to answer a question or lend assistance though. Store was kept clean and well-stocked on each of my visits. Large parking lot shared with the grocery store next door. My only complaint would be dog owners who don't clean up after their pets OUTSIDE of the store... seriously people? Pick it up. There's free bags available if you don't have any! read more

I don't like many big suburban-ish stores, but Petsmart is a win for me. They have a huge selection of pet stuff at decent prices. Also, one time I went there at 9 AM just after the store opened, and I saw two mice doing it. That was an amazing experience that totally made my week. read more
