Came here tonight to grab some test strips and medicine for my fish who is seemingly not doing so well. At first we asked a gentleman working if he knew where to find something but he had no idea. This was sort of odd. We kept looking and then we ran into our saving grace, Ky! Wow, this was a testament to customer service and interaction with customers. She was great and helped lead us to where to find the right stuff for our fish as well as giving us info that is proving to be extremely helpful. Ky, if you see this thank you!! There are 6 people in line, there's only 1 cashier, people are getting fidgety - What Do You Do?! WHAT DO YOU DO! Well, I would have had the manager open one of the empty registers... and here came the manager out of his office. He brought change to the cashier and went back into his office. I wish I had been holding a dog bone because I would have lobbed it at the back of his head. Geez. So they didn't get 5 stars because of their store manager. ("He must be mighty busy and important, and have enough customers already," I say sarcastically.) They have a great variety and the employees (minus the manager) are friendly. Quite a few Petco's I've been to don't dust their products on the shelf, but this Pet Smart does. (Simple "housekeeping" that you'd think most businesses would do so you're not buying something with a layer of dust.... but Petco hasn't figured that out yet.) I have 2 kitties and "Dog Envy" so sometimes I go just to pet a puppy in one of the aisles. It satisfies my doggy fix and my hubby's desire not to have a dog right now. (Plus, he thinks pets should have friends so when I do get a dog, he wants me to get 2. So this saves me from bringing 2 dogs home.) I love a business where they just want to make your pet happy! Took my two dogs to grooming with Carly. My experience was nothing but 5 star. I would highly recommend Carly because she was caring and gentle with my dogs and you can tell she loves what she does. Chanel has been grooming my little schnauzer mix, Happy, for over a year now. Chanel is simply amazing as what she does. Happy is on the older side and can be a little grumpy or nervous, but not with Chanel. I have been having my cockapoo Layla groomed at this Petsmart for many yrs. I always make an express appointment- I waited 5 weeks to get an express Appointment for today 5/10/2021, and pre checked in online yesterday. I get there today, & after waiting in line for 20 minutes, they tell me i don't have express appointment & the groomer assigned to me isn't even there right now- so they can't take my dog anyway. I got NO text/call informing me if this either. Assistant Manager wasn't very apologetic or concerned either. I took my dogs in for grooming. Even though I pointedly instructed staff to use oatmeal shampoo, they didn't do it. And now my dogs are itching. Staff explained after the fact that oatmeal shampoo is $6 extra per dog. Why didn't they offer to do it for an extra $6? Oh, well. Other than that, I'm pretty happy. The dogs look great! Just adorable. They gave my little Tina 2 pink bows and a cute bandanna. They braided Corey's bangs, as I asked. Where are the coupons they usually give out to grooming customers? I didn't get any this time. Btw, their doggy training classes are excellent! I took both my dogs there for training a few years ago. I saw some doggy-themed reusable shopping bags. I intend to return and buy some. This store is on Cochran Street between First and Madera, in the same shopping center as Office Depot, BevMo, Home Depot and Wal-Mart. I will never be giving any business to any petsmart again. Especially in their fish department. As a back story, I got back into the aquarium hobby about 6 ish months ago. I started off with a small 5 gallon tank for one betta fish. I purchased everything from petsmart. About a month ago I upgraded my tank to a 10 gallon I purchased some more fish since I had the room for a few more fish. Since I got the bigger tank my normal care routine because much more diligent. I got 2 catfish one is still currently alive and the other one died about 2 days after the purchase. I ask a manager why the fish died so soon after I took it back to the store and he told me that their tanks currently have some problems. He told me there was a disease in a lot of their tanks to be exact. The manager told me to come back in a few weeks and they should have the tanks under control. Fast forward to present time, I went back to the store to get some small fish. Turns out the disease in their tanks were not situated and now 3 of my fish died from a fugal disease that was not in my tank until I put their fish into my tank. Very hurt and upset over the whole situation to the point where I contacted corporate over the situation. So to summarize this bad review DO NOT buy fish from this store as the store does not take care of their tanks. Very disappointed, upset, and hurt over the situation. read more

I placed an order on door dash one day, it was supposed to be delivered the same day between a 3 hour window. It never showed up. I called the next day, late afternoon, and the gentleman I spoke to said my order was still sitting there and the door dash driver never showed up. He didn't offer me anything to help, just "yeah it's still sitting here" in annoyance. It would've been nice if they checked why the order was still there and made arrangements for it to be attempted to be delivered again. It's hard to leave working from home and with a new baby. I called door dash to see how I could get my refund also because I left the driver a tip and they said I'd have to deal with petsmart for that. I called and spoke to the same gentleman and like the first phone call, it seemed like he didn't have time to help and was very short with me on the phone. I said I would just like the full amount (tip included) refunded and cancel the order. He said "okay I'll cancel that for you, have a nice day," and hung up. A few days later on my bank statements I had seen that only the order amount was being refunded and not the tip I left as well. It was a very irritable process and I didn't feel like I was cared for at all by this petsmart location and I'm recommending to people I know to be careful with this location. They have had some amazing groomers but they are constantly changing and most of them or horrible!!! Carly sucks!! She gave my dog razorburn bad all over. I told her my dog was a rescue and if there was certain things he was fussy about not to do it because i would rather not traumatize him and let her know he hates his nails clipped and does better with grinder. She ends up muzzling him and having to take 2 people and ended up clipping his nails which were exact opposite of what i told her! She also did another dog and never finished the cut the cut she did do looked horrible on a golden doodle. Supposedly she is the busiest but in my opinion she is the worst groomer i have ever had!! PetSmart.. the Wal-Mart for your furry little friends! This location is actually near a Wal-Mart, Party City and Home Depot. (Talk about killing a few birds with one stone! Or was that a bad pun?) There is plenty of parking and you're near the 118 freeway for a quick exit if your child demands a parrot. The store is modern and clean. It's a good sized location with plenty of supplies and pets for sale. Fish, birds, cats, dogs. On the weekend there are usually adoptions taking place. I haven't used any of their pet grooming services but it usually seems busy so they must do a decent job. I've always found the employees to be friendly and helpful and everyone is nice to your dog if you decide to bring him along for the visit. Nice location! read more

My doxiepin has a bad habit of chewing his nails when they start getting long so he ended up with scraggly dagger claws attached to his feet and there was no waiting on his next nail trimming. I made a quick stop at PetSmart for his nail trim and he was already full of anxiety. He's not a dog that travels outside of the house very well and I was wary about the havoc he was about to wreak on the unsuspecting grooming salon. A younger guy took my info at the counter and I warned him that my dog PANICS in the hands of strangers and trimming his nails is an impossible task for me to accomplish on my own. I wished him the best of luck and said goodbye to my dog. Upon my return, I was really nervous to see what had happened to this guy. I was certain my dog's unruly claws tore him to shreds. I rehearsed apologies in my head for when they emerged, covered in blood. Instead, the guy came out smiling and said my dog had been difficult, but he was a funny dog. Both my dog and the guy were in pristine condition. I was totally relieved and extremely happy with the service. I can't stress enough how difficult my dog is and the fact that the grooming team at PetSmart managed to trim all his nails is nothing short of a miracle. read more

For the groomers only.....because our dogs' grooming salon had a ridiculously long wait for them to get groomed (6+ weeks), I decided to go to Petsmart since they do grooming there, as well. My dogs were beginning to look scraggly, so another 6 weeks was not in the cards. While my dogs came out clean and fully groomed, it was not what I asked for. I don't know why it wasn't what I requested, but it just wasn't. I'm used to Westie/Yorkie modified cuts with a full face, and I even said that. Then, I asked that they NOT get shaven down all the way, but did they listen to that? No. They didn't look bad, but I didn't love it either. Their hair will grow out eventually, but they were shaved way too close for my liking. Plus, it wasn't what I asked for. I still can't figure out why they didn't listen to me. It's just a regular ol' Petsmart. You've got your basic dog/cat/bird/fish/small critter necessities, lots of toys, and a dog-grooming salon. There are cats you can adopt, classes you can take with your dog, and very few dead fish in tanks. (Yes, I admit that I like to look at fish in pet stores just to see what the other fish are doing to the dead ones.) Because of Big Al's no returns/exchanges policy on anything that has to do with lights, this is where I go for light bulbs and light fixtures for my tanks. Almost everything else is on the "geez, that's expensive" side - from what I can see in the reptile section, at least. Oh, but they do have one of those free ~*card club*~ memberships like at grocery stores, where you can save a little bit of money on some products, if you're lucky. To end with a little story: I've always encountered very friendly staff here, so they get an extra star for that. A few months ago, I bought a granite water dish for one of my lizards. It looked fine in the store, but when I was cleaning it half an hour later, there was a big hairline crack running through it. I didn't drop it or anything. What. I went back, and showed it to the same cashier. She happily said I could exchange it for a new one, even though I'd already peeled off the labels and disinfected it. How easy was that? I was in and out of there in less than five minutes. Wow, I wish all my customer service encounters could be that easy. read more

I walked in on Black Friday not knowing a thing about a fish tank. I have had my heart set on one for years! I knew nothing about PH or No3/No2 nor did I have a clue on what I was getting myself into. Todd, Colleen and Shay are hands down amazing. Todd always answers my questions from his personal experience with his fish, Shay is very knowledgeable about all their freshwater fish as well as the specific environments they can be in and what fish mix well with others. Colleen is amazing. I am at the store at least once a week for the past month (I have a nitrite spike); Colleen helps me every time I go in. She knows everything and anything about everything in the store including my fish! So far her advice and guidance has helped me get through my tanks first cycling process as well as aiding in keeping my tank in a balance. I have never had any better customer service than at this store. I would highly recommend them. -Side note: my grandmother shops every two weeks here for our cat Spike; they even help put her purchases in her car for her. Faith restored in humanity. I like this place mainly for their great deals on clearance and items such as dog bowls and little treats. They have a pretty good selection of dog food. I also like there selection of cute doggie clothes. If your going here be sure to check out all the clearance because you will find a few great deals. Otherwise things may get a little pricey. They also support local rescue organizations and have pet adoptions every saturday. -1 star because they don't have a "treat bar"!! read more

This is the closest Petsmart to us so it's more convenient. They usually help us out when we have any issues or questions. I have 2 fish (1 Comet Goldfish and 1 Glofish) and one Pomeranian puppy so I am constantly here buying fish food and puppy toys. I would love to see more variety though. read more

I called once to just ask about appointments for a certain day, and I was transferred four times and waited twenty minutes just for someone to say "yes" or "no" to my question. How incompetent can you be? My dog came back with KENNEL COUGH. Really? Your sanitation is that bad? My dog got sick from a four hour grooming appointment? Unbelievable. His haircut was absolutely awful, with hair sticking up at random bits, like they just shaved him and missed parts and didn't care. His nails weren't even clipped. I used to bring my dogs here on a regular basis. The last time I brought the dogs here they were over a half hour late for their appointment and my dogs still had not been processed for their wash. My dogs are about one year old, sixty-eight pounds, and quite restless. I asked to speak to a manager and Todd came out from his office. I complained to him about the long wait. I felt he was not addressing my concern. If that were not enough, one of the groomers came from the back and starting telling me all the reasons I was wrong and Todd just stood there and said nothing. I was not going to argue with her in front of the customers and Todd. I called corporate to complain and they said they would get back to me in three to five days but they never did. I understand appointments run late, but over a half hour is excessive. I showed up to the appointment on time. I will never return. read more

I chose to drive out to Simi Valley to this PetSmart because I know they are one of the only places around with female dumbo rats. (which are the cutest little babies) Upon arriving a sales associate and also friend of mine named Brenna helped me out she showed me the different sizes that they had and helped me pick the right one for me. She was extremely helpful and made sure I was happy! Definitely one of the best experiences at a pet store I've had in awhile. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I didn't even get to say bye to her and thank her for all her help because her manager was upset with her for talking to me! I understand she and I know eachother but we only spoke about what I needed to know/get to make my little baby happy once I get home! Management really needs to learn the difference between socializing and being a helpful associate. read more

I can't believe how bad my yorkie' grooming was. I had finally worked with someone there (Shelly) on how to groom my little one. Well, she's gone! I don't feel like paying 40.00 to train someone that should be trained. If you're looking for just a bath or a shave down this is the place. But if you're looking for a qualified groomer, look elsewhere. My poor baby was there for over 2 hours, as soon as I saw her I was more upset by the amount of time she was there with her only having her bangs and feet trimmed. I could have done that at home. I love the grooming staff at Simi Petsmart. They always do a fantastic job on my dog Ms. Gigi. My dogs hair gets matted all the time and they are so good about taking good care of her; cut her nails, clean her ears, cut her hair, shampoo her and then they put adorable little bows on her ears when I come to get her. She gets so excited when I leave her to get her grooming done. I have taken my dog to a few other grooming salons but I find that for my dog Simi Petsmart does the best job and she is a mess when I bring her in and comes out like a new dog every time! This review if for their Pet Care department, not for the product areas. I'm sure it's better in the products because they don't have uneductated employees trying to keep animals alive. I worked at a Petsmart in another state, and when I started we had a week's worth of training on how to care for the animals. How to care for, not sell as fast as possible. Apparently the employees at this store got different training. Their fish system has terrible water, and is never balanced correctly. Therefore, tons of their fish die throughout the day and the employee cannot scoop them out fast enough for there to be no dead fish. I've seen reptiles with bad sheds or the wrong foods, small animals (rats, hamsters, etc) with respiratory infections, and birds with dirty enclosures and not enough toys. The worst part is that the employees are uneducated. I've overheard one telling a couple that a parakeet cage would be fine to keep a conure in, or other nonsense. It seems they're taught to make the sale first, and care about the animals second, which is the opposite of what I was taught when I worked for the company. It takes all my strength to not step in and correct the employee who offers the wrong food or says an aggressive fish is fine with the calm tropical ones. Do not buy anything live here. It is most likely unhealthy or diseased. If you know what products you need, go in, get them, and get out before they try to sell you unneccessary, dangerous, or incorrect items for your pet. As for me, I just avoid this store at all costs. read more

I took my dog in for a groom and wash. I got there at opening at 9 AM. There was one person in front of me that was having her dogs nails clipped. I stood in line for 15 minutes while the groomer took her dog back into shop to cut its nails. After cutting the dogs nails, and settling with the woman that that brought the dog in, I approach the window and advised her that I was there for my 9 o'clock appointment. She looked on her computer and said they have no appointment scheduled for me today. I advised her that my wife was in yesterday gave her the paperwork for our dog and confirm the appointment. Upon further searching the computer she said oh I see the appointment was canceled and rescheduled for the 13th. I said well thank you very much for letting me know and she says well we called and left a message at 5:30 to previous day. When I got home I checked my landline, and verified with my wife that no phone message were left regarding the cancellation of appointment. Needless to say this will be the last time that I attempt to make an appointment with Petsmart. read more

I always come here for my pet needs. I usually buy dog care stuff here. The store is well put and clean. Customer service is usually really great . They help me out if i can't find anything , There is a lot of parking and never packed inside the store. They have groomers, dog training classes, and sell fish, reptiles , and birds. They have a lot of pet merchandise here. They also have pet perk card for discounts which I usually get a lot of free stuff and half off stuff at the store for my dog. read more

So I'm out and about on my lunch break and I remember I need to acquire some FrontLine for my flea bitten fur bags AKA my two cats that I adore, so the first place I think of is PetCo. Guess what? Simi Valley doesn't have a PetCo, they instead have a Petsmart and it's way across town in a new shopping center off of Madera. O.K., I'll make the haul to complete my errand instead of having to do it when I get home. And guess what? Petsmart doesn't carry FrontLine!!! AHHH!! Drove all the way across town assuming they would be a full-fledged fully stocked pet supply chain. Dissed by Petsmart! They told me to go over to Big Al's Pet Warehouse instead. Ha! DONT take your dog here for grooming! My goldendoodle was there for several hours, Desiree? Told me I would have to bring here back because she was difficult lol. She's 14 months old. She's been groomed before at a Petsmart in Arizona. She did great. At this Petsmart they acted like my dog was the problem and that I shouldn't book a 1 o clock appointment when they close at 530. They shaved her tail and her ears down to the skin!!! Horrible! They bathed her and that's it. They said I'd have to come back so they could finish...I never write reviews but definitely want to make sure other people are aware of the horrible experience I had here. My poor dog was half done, wet, half shaved, and had a dry nose and mucous membranes (dehydrated) when I picked her up. She was so anxious for an hour after, panting. Im a Nicu RN so good at reading signs of dehydration and stress (elevated heart rate, respirations, etc). The Petsmart in Arizona told me she was super easy and sweet and they finished her bath and shaved her an inch and made her look perfect in just two hours. Needless to say I am telling all my friends on social media and in person NOT to take their pets to this location. I ended up grooming her myself. read more

Dropped my two labs off for grooming on a Sunday and when they called to tell me that they were ready for pick up they also told me that I am now "no longer allowed to bring my dogs in on the weekends because my dogs are not well behaved" when asked what she meant by that she said "when other dogs walk by your dogs want to play with them and they are to difficult to control". Um I'm sorry but you're a Professional Dog Grommer and you can't control my dogs... We will not be taking out dogs here again to say the least. read more

It's no surprise that this place has a 2.5 star rating. The groomers are mediocre at best, unaccommodating and rude. I brought my dogs in 10-15 minutes early. They had back to back appointments. I had another appointment I had to get to so I brought them in a little early. Not that long ago this wasn't an issue. However, 10-15 minutes early is apparently now considered an early appointment and they wouldn't take my dogs. I had no other choice but to cancel both appointments which put the poor groomer out of work for 3-4 hours (my dogs aren't an easy groom). The grooming here is just not worth the inconvenience and being treated poorly. Not only that but if they're treating their customers this way, how do think they're treating their customers' pets?? There are plenty of other groomers to go to. I highly suggest doing so. read more
