I usually wouldn't post anything about a business but feel this is important. My dog had an appointment for dog grooming and Barks & Bubbles in Moorpark 9am this morning, I was told at the latest 1 pm, I called, no answer 4 times, finally I drove there at 2 pm just so upset my dog hasn't had any water, potty breaks.... For 5 hours at this time! Unexceptable. I go in he just got out of the bath, I said I'll take him still going to charge me $80, the girl asked can I brush him out, at this point I said, can you just finish the grooming? This is at 2 pm, 1 just picked him up at 3:20, he is wet, uneven horrible semi- cut, Imatted under ears, feet horrible done, doesn't even look like nails done and does not smell like he's been cleaned!!! I called back to the owner Shelly and said how disappointed I was and then they charged me $130. She said nothing just well sorry! He looks horrible and is acting strange. Never in 7 yrs of owning this dog he has never been in a groomer for 61/2 hours, l'm beside myself. I would never recommend them! read more

Came by for a haircut and a groom. Barks N Bubbles takes reservations online, by phone and text which is very conviennent! They were able to get us in same day with a lot of other places booked up, so making an appointment was very easy and painless. They also accept text ahead of vaccination records to help speed up the sign up process. Our pup was treated very nicely and came out looking very handsome with a bandana! He was calm and wasn't scare when we came to pick him up, and seemed like the staff at Barks N Bubbles made him very comfortable for his first groom. I'm really disappointed to leave this review, as I had high hopes - but it was not to be. This review isn't for the grooming, as we didn't get that far... It's for having a peek into how my dog was treated when one of the employees failed to realize I was right behind him. My pup and I just relocated to the area. It's been a seriously tough year for both of us... There's been lots of loss and change. My pup lost his companion and his pack, and is an entirely new/unfamiliar situation. He was in need of a bath, a face clean-up, pad clean up... Nothing major. This place is conveniently located. I hadn't checked the ratings, as he wasn't going in for a cut, as he typically does, and has, once every two months, for the last 7 years. So, we arrive for his 2:00 appointment. Shortly after our arrival, I hear a voice saying we will be right with you... A woman emerges, and noticed that my pup was a little nervous... She instructs me to put him down, and to let him hang for a minute... At this point - nothing seemed out of the ordinary... We filled out the form, talked about the services I was interested in - and within a few minutes, I was handing her my pup. When she took him to the back, he began to cry and bark - almost like a panic. I was taken aback.... He'd NEVER done that before... I said to the woman that he should settle down after I left. She asked me how much time I had, and told me that they'd call me as soon as he was done. As I left, it occurred to me that perhaps it was too much, too soon. My mistake. I should have pulled the plug then. I headed home, with the intent to call and check up on him as soon as I arrived. And - I did. When I called, I could hear him screaming in the back. I told her I was on my way to get him - as, again - that had NEVER happened before... The place is two minutes from my home. I could hear him from out front as I exited my car. I was shocked. I opened the door and walked in. The woman put her hand up, as to say wait a minute, as she was on the phone. I walked over to the side of the desk, and listened to my pup in despair. It was clearly too much for him. As I waited, and looked into the back, one of the employees YELLED at my dog, "BE QUIET" - and at that point, it became too much for ME. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. He clearly didn't realize I was standing right there - not to mention that he was yelling at MY dog... I was STUNNED...! Who does that?? I don't even yell at my dog like that!! I quipped back - "hey, do NOT yell at my dog" - and the woman at the front desk shot me a look to kill... I cared not. I get that he was loud - I get that she was on the phone - but I also expect people who handle dogs to be empathetic to the dog's behavior. He wasn't snapping or growling at other dogs - he was crying... He was FREAKED out and was in distress... I also expect people who handle dogs to able to handle themselves... and in a manner that is acceptable. THAT was not. I will not be back. Not even when we're settled in, and my pup is more comfortable and secure... What I saw/heard will never EVER be OK, nor sit well with me.... Horribly disappointing. read more

So second time I took my small dog. Dropped off in the morning and didn't pick up until after closing and he didn't even have his haircut! Sooo angry! I've been going here for the past year and love it! First of all, I have a VERY hyper labradoodle who they take great care of with grooming, cut, and baths. My pup loves going there and doesn't get scared. Everyone is extremely nice especially the front desk receptionist. Prices are decent. I highly recommend this groomer. On Saturday October 31st I took my dog to get groomed here and while checking her in at 10:15am I informed the lady at the reception desk that she had an ear infection. I told her to please be gentle with her ear and to put cotton in it while they groomed her. The lady at reception desk was rude when I told her about it. Then I didn't hear anything from the groomer for over 5 hours. I called at 3:30 and asked if my dog was finished. The lady said no she isn't finished ,we just started on her. I dropped her off at 10:15. She wasn't finished till about 4:15-4:30. That is a really long time for my dog to be there. Then when I got there to get my dog the lady at the front desk was even more rude about the ear infection because she was acting like I didn't care about my dog and told me I had to take to the vet now. Obviously I do care about my dog. I had already told her about the infection and I felt bad about it. I just didn't have the chance to bring her to the veterinarian yet. Plus my dog groom was all messed up. I will never go back to Bark and Bubbles Grooming. It is sad because I had been there a few times before and had a good experience but totally not this last time.Their customer service has definitely gone downhill. Maybe it was just the lady who was working the phone and the front desk on October 31st 3020. If so still no excuse. read more

My terrier mix was in desperate need of a haircut, she looked like a ragamuffin! My boyfriend's corgi/ chihuahua/ Tasmania devil mix, really just went along to have professional grooming. I took my dog to Barks N Bubbles for the first time this week. The staff seemed very nice and helpful. When I picked up my dog after 4 hours he looked good as I expected. When I brought him home I realized that his nails weren't cut, which made me think they didn't express his anal glands either (not that I could find out or check that). His haircut was mostly good with some parts not cut evenly and they shaved his backside extremely short where it looks like it was an accident. So his cut was just ok. I called in to let them know that his nails weren't trimmed etc, and the woman I spoke to didn't seem like she cared and didn't act surprised when I said this. She told me I could bring him in to get his nails cut free of charge.. I told her it's out of he way for me, almost 20 min each way, and basically said that was my option. She finally said she was sorry reluctantly. If they dealt with the phone call in a more professional and apologetic way I wouldn't be writing this review and would give them another chance. I would give this place 2.5 stars. read more

Brought our one year old golden retriever rocky here because he was shedding his coat for fall and it was getting crazy. He's never been to a groomer as we usually just wash and dry him at home. It's okay; it's fairly cheap, but they always give my dog a mullet. They don't' really listen to what you want for your dog, either. I keep asking them to cut his tail hairs (???) much shorter and they will take him back and make a snip and come back out and it's not any shorter. This is painful. My beautiful Goldendoodle was shaved after I asked for a puppy cut. I even told the groomer, I wanted a puppy cut. But she listened to the ditsy receptionist that just started working that week rather than listen to the owner. I even bought the groomer a caramel macchiato to make her morning a little sweeter. Funny how kind acts can bite you in the butt sometimes. Elvis was almost 14 years old and he passed away 4 weeks ago. He had CHF, long story, he was very sick. His last visit was the last time, sadly that he was groomed. They still charged $80 despite scalping him. They also informed me they would charge me this insane amount because he was older at the next visit. I knew when I picked him up, he may not make it to another grooming appointment because he was older and sick. I held off at the time with leaving this review but after this popped up, I decided to leave it because I don't want another Dog or owner to be treated this way. Now, they are so busy, I get the assembly line feel rather than an expensive groomer feel( although your pocketbook will feel it). It would have been nice for my baby to have a soft puppy cut when he passed. He was such a sweet dog. It hurt me so much to lose him. This crappy experience was not something he needed nor did I at the end of his life. Previously, he bled from his nail bed due to sloppy work trimming his nails. I will find a new groomer for my new puppy, when I'm ready to get one. read more

I took my dog here for the first time as we were new to the area. I was originally charged $45 which would be normal but they realized they had charged the wrong dog and brought out a Golden Retriever instead of my Weimaraner. I was then charged an additional $10 for my dog which has 1/3 the amount of hair or work. In addition I was a new customer. If you want to keep customers this is definitely not a way to do it. Be generous to first customers and actually have legitimate cost structure by breed. My dog also came back with bumps all over his skin like he had Mange. Clearly they aren't using dog shampoo or oatmeal shampoo for dogs and definitely aren't washing them properly. This can easily be hidden by long haired coats but not short hair dogs. I highly suggest not taking your dog here if you want a good grooming experience and even remotely stellar customer service. read more

Taking her on a walk can be a challenge, since she can be too afraid to go forward (poor thing was badly abused before we adopted her). But Shelley handled it perfectly.
