I go to PetSmart because they sell special treats that my dogs prefer and I can only find them there. The location I normally go to has been out of stock for a while now. Recently, I was in the Simi Valley area and decided to take a look at the PetSmart there. Thankfully, they had exactly two in stock, and it was buy one get one half off, I bought the last two. This store is a nice store, easy to get around, and I was greeted upon entering by the same pleasant lady that was the cashier.

If I could give a negative rate I would. I'm so disappointed in pet smart. The first time I came to drop my 41/2 month puppy to get a puppy groomed, they were able to bathe, brush, clean his ears and clip his nails by a gentleman (his remarks was he's a puppy he has energy but good. I even tipped the guy!) BUT this time around by Leslie "not possible" to clip or grind his nails. Which whatever he's a puppy I get it, it's challenging to do it myself but once he has a licking pad, he has his attention to that. Plus, they didn't kennel him but put him in a separate room cause he barked. No crap, he's a puppy! SEE MY ISSUE HERE, is that he comes home with a cut that's extremely red and was bleeding. I assume it looks like a nail shape cut and maybe she was holding him to tightly that it dug in him or something else. BUT for me to call and to see what happened because I get it, things happen and people makes mistakes and they did not own up to the mistake made me write this review. Seriously think they traumatized him. He has been pooping and peeing everywhere in the backyard and that's not normal behavior at all for him even when last time I took him or when I do it myself. Also they recommend calming aids "sold here only" blew my mind. He's not even a year. I don't even write reviews but this one seems important.

Looked online and saw they had an igloo dog house on sale, so I called to confirm pick up. Jessica answered the phone and was very helpful. She put me on hold, went to the back and checked to make sure it was already put together. As soon as I arrived, she brought it out to the car for me. She was extremely friendly and went above and beyond. So far the dogs don't know what to think of it, but I'm sure they will eventually use it, as my oldest dog won't let the others in his little house. They were busy today, but hey it's the weekend! Plenty of parking, in the center with Walmart, etc. Thanks again Jessica.

So sad that we've come here since our dog was a puppy, but today we were turned away due to "separation anxiety". In the past, the staff said he settled down once he went back, but today the staff only spent a few minutes and didn't seem interested in trying like the others would. Ugh. One woman even implied that since he hasn't been there since November, that that is not recent enough and possibly that it never will be because now it's going to be even longer. He's been with another groomer since his favorite left, but these 2 girls (Anjelica and ?) seemed determined to not groom him after a quick few min eval. Yes, he was loud, but he was calm before I returned. I will definitely not be back. I honestly believe that if Anjelica would've shown just half of the compassion and skill that Sarah had, things would've been completely different.

Long line of people waiting to be checked out with only one cashier on the register at 12 o'clock on a Saturday

If you need to get pet food or literally anything else from the store, be prepared to wait in line for a minimum of 25 minutes in order to check out. This is a reoccurring theme at the store, where they are continually understaffed and create a hostile work environment for the only cashier there, doing their best with a line of 40+ people waiting to be checked out. What's worse is that the managers literally stand there watching this poor cashier struggle without even offering to jump on a second register to speed up the process. Get more people or have your managers start doing their jobs because this is ridiculous.

I really like coming here. Sometimes there are clearance deals too. Good selection. Some of the seasoned staff that are still here are cool. There's some newbies that look like they enjoy Halloween all year. Hmmm. But yeah ok My dog likes picking out toys. We also like the other stores which have more specialty unique items. But for all generic things needed. This is a go to.

Emma looks so cute with hair bows, thank you Heather!

Leia usually barks at anyone and everyone, but she was calm and quiet. After taking her home we took her out to get a bath and I am very proud to say she did not bark at one person. We are so happy that Bar took the time to really see her potential and give her the basic skills to interact with humans and other dogs. I highly recommend Bar's training. Solid pet training classes…read more Relaxed atmosphere, affordable, great park location where classes are held. Lindsey is a patient trainer. Her group classes are designed for dogs that need to learn basic commands. We have been going for a few months off and on with our puppy. He is now 6 months old and he has benefited from the socialization alone on top of learning commands: sit, down, stay, leave it, and come. I like that we are teaching our dogs to be confident around all types of dogs and people. We work on specific issues for certain dogs in a group session. All the dogs practice proper listening and control commands so that they become more obedient. The dogs play at the end. Timid and fearful dogs as well as floppy puppies attend. Lindsey has a relaxed way of keeping all the dogs working towards their goals. These classes are definitely designed to be repetitive. You need to work on the commands at home but if you aren't great about it and just keep going to class with your dog you will still benefit. We love that Lindsey has a pay if you show policy. You don't need to sign any contract or pay ahead. Just pay for class when you go. At $15 for a one hour class, it is a very affordable way to get your new puppy or young dog some quality training and socialization. Highly recommended!!!

    Matan Dog Training

I can wholeheartedly recommend Matan Dog Training based on our experience with our Rottweiler,…read moreSequoia. Sequoia spent seven weeks in their Board & Train program. She is a two year old Rottweiler who, despite a tremendous amount of effort on our part with training, socialization, and exposure to both people and dogs, had become increasingly reactive toward humans and other dogs. With a large, powerful working breed, that level of reactivity is something you simply cannot take lightly. I don't believe in saying that a dog like Sequoia is suddenly "cured." She is still naturally cautious around unfamiliar people, and she is not, and probably never will be, the type of dog that every stranger should walk up and pet. But the change in her behavior after seven weeks with the Matan Dog Training team has been dramatic. Her human reactivity is now virtually nonexistent. The lunging is gone. We can actually sit with her on a bench or at a coffee shop and relax instead of constantly worrying about how she might react to a waiter or someone walking past us. That alone has been a huge change in our lives with her. She is substantially less reactive overall, more confident, much better with commands, and extremely responsive to the e collar system they introduced and taught us how to use appropriately. Just as importantly, I feel more confident handling her and better able to provide the clear, consistent leadership she needs. The program didn't just improve Sequoia's behavior. It gave us better tools and improved our relationship with her. I also can't say enough about the people at Matan Dog Training. Matan Shaibi himself has built an incredible team and clearly understands dogs, particularly dogs with more challenging behavioral issues. Amelia did an amazing job working with Sequoia, and Heather, Michael, Josie, and the rest of the staff were consistently kind, communicative, responsive, and supportive. Throughout the seven weeks, I trusted them completely with Sequoia's safety, happiness, and well-being. That means a lot when you are leaving a dog you love somewhere for that length of time. They were professional, compassionate, reliable, and have continued to make themselves available when we have questions or need advice. I genuinely feel like Sequoia now has an extended family there. For anyone dealing with serious reactivity, particularly with a large, powerful working breed where the stakes are higher, I would recommend Matan Dog Training without hesitation. They understand that some behavioral tendencies are deeply rooted in a dog's temperament and cannot simply be erased, but they know how to work with those traits and create meaningful, practical, real-world improvement. We are incredibly grateful to Matan, Amelia, Heather, Michael, Josie, and the entire team for what they have done for Sequoia and for us.

I'm highly upset and disappointed with this company. If you didn't read my husband's review…read morealready, I want to explain my frustrations. My sweet 1-year-old German Shepherd, Oso, was scheduled for a 2-week board-and-train and came home under horrible circumstances. We've had Oso since he was a baby and taught him the basics ourselves (Sit, Down, Wait, Up, Free, Spin) using positive reinforcement. See Video 1 for an example. Oso has had high reactivity toward other dogs, which we made very clear was something he needed training on. The trainers kept saying that he likes to "pick fights" with other dogs. I understand Oso has a big bark, but he has never once been aggressive toward another dog. We understand aggression can occur, and I'm not a dog trainer, so if that's what you call "picking fights," so be it. (See Video 2 for an example.) In Video 2, you can also see two trainers come together to talk about Oso's dewclaw. They didn't even know what it was called and referred to it as "weird," which I took offense to. Keep this dewclaw in mind, because that story isn't over. Communication overall was poor. For $2,000, I would expect, at minimum, pictures or videos every day. Mind you, when Oso was home, I had a dog walker who walked him for 30 minutes every day and sent me multiple videos along with a map of where they went on their walk. With this company, the pictures we received were mostly just Oso sitting outside on their dirt patches. We received two videos of Oso on the dog treadmill, with no explanation until I asked how long he was on the treadmill for. I felt like I constantly had to ask for information, and if I didn't ask, it wasn't a priority. Oso also came home with what looks like pimples on the inside of his mouth (see image). He did not have these prior to going there, as I am very conscious of everything regarding his health and appearance. The facility may not have noticed this, but I believe they would not take responsibility for it. I'd love to hear the excuse they would give: "These things happen." On the last day of his training (go-home day), we were already struggling to make the appointment because my husband and I are both active-duty military and can't just leave work. My husband received a call that Oso was receiving his bath, and during his blow-dry session, his dewclaw got caught in the grate and RIPPED OUT. I can't imagine the pain he was in. They took him to a local pet hospital, which didn't even see him until SIX hours after his initial arrival. After many attempts to get in touch with them regarding payment, Matan finally called and said he would cover it and that "things like this happen." I would love to see the camera surveillance and a written report of what happened. I can only imagine what the excuse will be as to why I'm not able to receive these from Matan. Oso is home with us now and recovering. We are extremely dissatisfied and honestly can't forgive ourselves for giving this company $2,000 for this treatment. Matan, to make this right, a refund is due--or at least half. We should have known we made a mistake when we paid first and then signed the contract stating refunds are not given. You were so personable and reassuring over the phone before booking, which unfortunately fooled us. Never will Oso or any of us be near this company again. I hope this review helps other responsible dog owners think twice before choosing this company
