My dog and I have been loyal customers to this grooming salon location for years. Yes, my dog tends to be on the anxious side, OTC supplements have worked for him, and MOST of the groomers are able to get the job done. Today I forgot to give him his supplements and his bath (with a new employee that doesn't know him) didn't go so well. I also forgot to give him his supplements during his previous bath and he did just fine. I was told today that he could not return to this location for grooming services unless he has a prescribed calming medication. I needed this to happen because who better to service my own dog baby than me. There's a reason I'm sure why the turnover rate there is high and they can't keep groomers!! The groomer made me feel like a piece of dirt on the ground and very uncomfortable and so very rude she embarrassed me in front of all the work staff. Very unfriendly from the time I walked in never even a smile on her face. If people don't like their jobs they should find a new one. I would not recommend the groomer Ashleigh. read more

Worse groom imaginable! After thorough explanation, which included pictures, of how I wanted my poodle cut, my dog was butchered. Entire body almost completely shaven clean, what's left is uneven with bald spots under arms , on chest, and stomach. 2-3 groom took 5 hours which would have been okay if they'd actually did what I paid for. I have a 7 month old Cane Corso puppy who is around 50 pounds and this was his first time at a groomers. Dropped him off and of course he was nervous. Two hours later I received a call that they were cancelling the appointment due to him being "too nervous". They stated he was very sweet but they were not able to get him bathed or teeth brushed. Only a nail trim which you can't even tell they did anything. They advised me to bring him back on a day when it wasn't as busy because they believe the other dogs barking made him nervous. Definitely not the case because he has been around other dogs on many occasions and shows no signs of anxiety. I truly believe they just didn't want to take the time with him and are not trained or equipped to handle larger breeds who may be a little more stubborn. Maybe they should just stick to tiny teacup dogs. I was told by others who have larger breed dogs that they don't handle larger breeds with care or patience so we won't be back or shopping there anymore. Will try out Pet Supplies Plus. read more

Took my Malshi for grooming at Petsmart on October 19, 2021 in Tuscaloosa, Al by Caroline. It was a horrifying experience to see what happened to her. Under her eye there was a cut and I was never made aware of it. I got her home and she was bleeding down her face. They were so rude to me and these groomers don't even speak nicely. Rough with the dogs I witnessed myself. Horrible customer service. She with my vets care is fine. Think twice about bringing your furbaby there. This was the second time I had issues with them. Learned my lesson the hard way. read more

The pet store itself is mediocre. They offer a limited selection in an almost claustrophobic store layout. The staff is not knowledgeable and honestly doesn't seem to know what they're talking about. The prices are expensive compared to other pet stores. HOWEVER, we've visited the grooming salon a few times and they have always been fabulous. I've always felt like my dog was in good hands with the grooming salon at this location. read more

This review is for the grooming salon, which is conveniently located right inside the front door. Being new to town, finding a good groomer was a major concern. Reviews for some of the independent places gave me cause for concern (cutting a dog's leg?!), so PetSmart seemed like the only alternative. They do have a website where you can book online, but after creating an account, it wouldn't load the page so I ended up just calling to make an appointment (they estimated $45 for bath, haircut, and nail trim). When I arrived with our precious fur child, they were prompt and friendly in getting him checked in (first timers need to provide a rabies certificate ), and even kindly cleaned up the accident he had on the floor (concrete -- smart!). They have a little chart with felt patches showing the various lengths, so it was easy to tell them what kind of cut he needed. It's also reassuring that the main grooming area is right out in the open, with just a back area for staff and presumably dogs waiting to be picked up. They called four hours later just as promised and gave the husband a glowing report. The husband said that it was $55, paid at the register up front, and left them a $10 tip (not sure if tipping is customary, but always did at our last groomer). Overall, I'm very satisfied. It would have been nice to book online and to get a reminder or confirmation the day before, but they did a nice job with his haircut and were wonderful to interact with. Just took my pup in for a bath and teeth cleaning today. It took about 1 1/2 hours for everything. They did a great job and she smells so much better! My only complaint that it was a little pricey to me.. $25 for regular bath (no upgrades). read more

My kids went in to buy a fish and the lady was extremely rude to them. My daughter was crying when she came back to the car. I went in to see what happen and the manager was rude to me and said they couldn't sell us fish. Very traumatic experience and I would not recommend anyone to shop there! read more

PetSmart of Tuscaloosa, Alabama abuses dogs in their care. I have witnessed so many incidents where the salon manager has attempted to cover up cuts with either super glue or liquid bandage. I have witnessed groomers jerking dogs into kennels with leads around their necks choking them while simultaneously kicking the dog from behind with their leg to force them into the kennels. I have witnessed the salon manager purposely tell employees to lie to the store manager regarding phone calls or appointments previously made due to running behind schedule by 15 minutes when their policy is no appointments accepted after 39 minutes late upon arrival. I have witnessed firsthand bullying being allowed from coworker to coworker even after it was brought to the attention of the store manager. I have witnessed race discrimination along with gender discrimination within the grooming salon regarding potential applicants. PetSmart of Tuscaloosa Alabama is nothing more than a race to see who can make the most money. I have been a loyal customer for years only to have unintentionally provided my support to furthering their business. No longer will I ever purchase items that help grow their business of which allows employees and consumers the right to use others as a means for their selfishness growth. Terrible grooming service. Very inconsistent. If they treat me poorly, I'm concerned about my pets. Paying a lot of money to get groomed and it not done complete, I think there is nothing wrong with asking to be fixed. I e always paid, never refused to pay. Just want it even. Left with matted fur when told it was done, had stray hairs coming out from paws and head. Just inconsistent and poorly run. They don't care. read more

Very clean and well organized new petsmart store. The first one in Tuscaloosa. The staff are very nice. One of the store staff members kindly helped me transfer two doggies clothes from another petsmart store by making a trip in person. We will visit this store very often for all kinds of treats and toys. read more

We have a wonderful experience every time we visit this store which is often since we have so many pets. Krystal is a phenomenal groomer and we love her. I feel so blessed to have found her because I was terrified when we moved here that I wouldn't be able to find a groomer for my babies. The ironic thing is that she is training under the groomer that we used and whom we loved dearly before moving here (Alli at PetSmart in Trussville). Krystal is sooooo good with my babies...She's kind, gentle and soft spoken! Brooke, one of the managers, is wonderful and deserves a ton of praise, also. She believes in taking care of the customers and she goes above and beyond in doing so. We were very fond of the PetSmart where we use to live and I'm so glad we now have another one that we know we can rely on. read more

TANK SHAMED!!! My friends and I went into PetSmart eager to purchase a pet fish for our apartment. When we asked for help regarding fish and tank selection, we were harassed by the young woman who seemed to be a "fish expert" in the back. She rudely told us that to buy any fish we would need a minimum of a 5 gallon tank. She showed us the tank selection where there were multiple tanks MUCH smaller than 5 gallons. Then had the audacity to suggest that us (three college students) should buy a $70 fish starter kit LOL. We then asked about the multiple other 1 gallon tanks available and she essentially tank shamed us. She scoffed and basically made us feel like we were horrible people for even suggesting to buy a small tank that was literally made for betta fish. We were leaving the store after the traumatic event only to see all of the available betta fish in legit SIX ounces of water, with many of them dead...Ironic. read more

I wasn't greeted at all. Walked the entire store only to find 2 employees. One lady named Angel who was very unapproachable and would not let me try a different phone number for my pet perks card. The cashier walked away as I came to the register to stock some things on the center racks and never stopped to say anything. I had my large dog with me and another employee was very rude and made it seem like he was fearful of a large breed dog. Very disappointed. New store but it seems as if the staff here forgot there is a customer service portion to retail. read more

moved here two years ago from texas had a great groomer but here we have been to five different groomers if they can groom I can walk on water ,my wife said she talk to a lady that had used your service and said we need to try it , I said a dog food store but they made me sorry I said that , my Airedale is not easy to handle but I went back to pick her up and she looks GREAT and the groomer was very nice and helpful I will be back thanks for all they did. read more
