I've had consistently bad experiences at this PetSmart location. The shelves are almost never stocked, yet the website constantly shows items as in stock, which is completely misleading. Even when you finally track down an employee to check inventory, they'll tell you they can't verify if it's actually available. It's the same story every single time I go, empty shelves, inaccurate online info, and no help from staff. At this point, it's honestly not worth the hassle. Customer service is bad. I tried to buy some goldfish there yesterday and the person helping me said she could not sell them to me if I had any other tropical fish in the tank. The goldfish will kill them, they are too aggressive. I told her all I had were Goldfish in my 20 gallon aquarium. She then asked me how many do I have now? I said one. She told me that's good enough, I should have only one fish in my 20 gallon aquarium. I told I just wanted to get three more, so you're telling me I need to have an 80 gallon aquarium for four goldfish? She said yes. I then said the tanks you have here are a lot smaller than mine and you have way more fish in each aquarium than just four. She then said I'm not going to argue with you, so I'm going to remove myself from this conversation and she just walked away. Do not buy dog food at this PetSmart if you expect to be able to return it. I've been shopping at PetSmart Whittier for years, but my recent experience was extremely disappointing. I bought a bag of puppy food after being told I could return it within 60 days if my new puppy didn't like it. My puppy ended up not liking it. When I tried to return it, the employee told me they no longer take back dog food unless it's their own brand or if it's unopened. The manager, John Valdez, said he had changed the policy and only allowed my return as a "one-time exception." He expects you to contact the manufacturer to get the refund. Ridiculous. This policy makes no sense for new pet owners, especially with puppies who often need to try different foods. Why would anyone buy dog food here if you can't return it when your pet won't eat it? It's an unfair and misleading change that forces customers to waste money. Do not buy dog food at this PetSmart if you expect to be able to return it. read more

Do not book an appointments for Grooming here! They offer coupons that they can't honor. I took my dog and had a $20 off coupon for grooming and I thought it was a good deal. I booked in person with the coupon once my dog was dropped off they did not honor the coupon and pretending like they had no idea of me coming in the day before. I left my dog there since my dog needed the services but I will not be back. Staff is unfriendly and rude. The first time I took my dog to the groomer it was ok . Then when I brought him at the end of June, I had upgraded it because they had a recommendation. I even paid more, and my Dog got the worst reaction dried up his skin, biting himself. He was so irritated, which I didn't understand when they shouldn't know what to do. I was super upset. So then I decided it to go to a different location which was in Cerritos and the girl says she would've never recommended that, and that they should've gave me my money back, which they didn't, and when I took him to the Cerritos location. One of the worst daycares to take your dog to. I had two separate incidents at this location and their employees and manager do nothing to help you. I only brought my dog for day care and the first time they forgot to take my dog out for play time (which they admitted) and all they did was not charge me for the play time and offered a free play time for my next visit. The 2nd time I dropped my dog off she was fine but when I picked her up immediately I noticed 2 bumps between her eyes while still checking out which none of the employees or managers knew how it got there. I demanded to see the footage of my dogs stay and they kept sending me to different managers (Jess and Joel) which still didn't have an answer for me as to why I can't see it nor were they able to give me a reason why my dog had two bumps. I don't recommend this place. They don't take care of your pets here and just forget about them so please be careful leaving your animals here. Took my small dog a couple of times for a couple hours for doggy daycare just so he can try to get used it since we were going to leave him there for 5 days for our vacation. I picked him up 3ish hours later after dropping him off and he couldn't jump on his back legs. I didn't notice it until I came home and was giving him a bath and I saw the bruises. I called them and they said they would look at videos and that I could take him to their vet at no cost. So the next day they called me and said they didn't see anything in the video and would not let us see the video. I was so disappointed and felt horrible because I left him there and thought I could trust the staff to care for my dog. I felt like they basically implied it happened at home but that's impossible . My dog is an indoor dog and never goes outside without supervision. They obviously do not have good cameras, maybe someone kicked him or he was injured by another dog. They had our dog for about four hours, and when they returned him, the services we paid for were not completed satisfactorily. Pet smart Whittier training classes and groomers are the best!! Kona our medium size golden doodle likes coming to this store. Kona loves the training classes with Rebecca. He quickly became more comfortable being around other dogs after her classes. Kona also enjoys going to the Whittier Pet smart groomers. Kona comes here monthly. All Whittier Pet smart groomers are friendly and treat all dogs with caring compassion. This is evidenced by Kona wagging his tail the minute we open the groomer room door. He is not scared to enter the grooming area and they do a great job every time! This place is rated 2 stars for a reason. The negligence this place carries is insane. They do not care about pets wellbeing and it reflects in the staff interactions alone. The staff is extremely unorganized and discriminatory towards customers. Especially the short bu tch with the tight bun causing a receding hairline. She is very condescending and abuses the override system for customers. I witnessed her treat customers differently based on appearance, very unprofessional and it makes sense why she's stuck working at petsmart, people like that don't have much control of their own life and like to power trip... yikes! And* Their vet misdiagnosis animals and potentially threatens their life beware please!!! I'm not in the business of bashing stores esp. when the employee is to blame but this store does not have great customer service overall. Let me tell you what I paid for vs. what they completed and you all can judge for yourself. Let me also preface this by saying I spoke to the groomer before and after the appointment and they proceeded to act like they knew what they were doing, they told me the understood what my request was and how to achieve it. I paid for a bath, hair cut, nail clipping AND grinding. I ASKED for my dogs neck to be TRIMMED being that his neck hair was longer than the hair on the rest of his body and hung over his collar and harness. And only that there was no hair cut for the rest of his body b/c his hair is already short. I RECEIVED my dog back with a green marker stain still on the inside of his undercarriage and noted tons of flakes and loose hair when I went home and brushed him (something the obviously didn't do after his bath). All of his nails weren't grind because they said he had anxiety and wouldn't allow them to do this (but I was still charged for it!) His neck was SHAVED and the "groomer" (idk if I would even call her that) didn't even blend the shave. I'll attach photos so you all can see the CLIPPER IMPRINT LEFT IN MY DOG! Petsmart offers 20% off your first grooming appointment but they acted like they didn't want to give it to me! All that totaled to $60 but I paid $48 but even so what the hell did I pay for...they obviously didn't do $48 worth of work! I should have read the reviews prior to going. This store doesn't have good reviews. In addition to the long lines in the store because they always want to use 1 cashier! I remember going here looking for a crate and asked an employee to help me find it! I'm 5 feet tall so of course I can see all the shelves or they may have something in the back. Her immediate response was "did you go back there and look, if you didn't see it we don't have it" although it said in stock in their store ONLINE!!!! My partner then ordered it for pick up from that SAME location and 2 hours later it was brought out to my car "but they didn't have it in stock" like lady you didn't even try to go look or help me!!!! This review is solely on the operation of the Pet Hotel. Employees have always been great and my dogs have always been safe while staying there. However, I recently canceled a boarding reservation because I learned they no longer staff the hotel 24 hours. Pets are left alone between the hours of 10 PM and 6AM. Because of this I am searching for an alternate boarding location. I know all pets are locked in their crates all night but emergencies happen. and usually in the middle of the night such as fires. Strip mall fires are pretty common especially when there is an attached restaurant. I hope Petsmart reconsiders their cost saving plan and again staff their hotel 24-7. If I can give zero starts I would. I scheduled a week ahead a grooming to two of my dogs because I have family coming over and wanted the doggies to be fresh. A few hours before the appointment I received an email my dogs session appointment was canceled. I called and asked what happened. I didn't get a call a day before but 3 hours before. The associate asked me what kind of dog i had. He's a poodle mix so requires a good amount of time. The associate didn't seem to care , I asked for a different time and type of modification from their part and associate was like nope we have nothing. Horrible customer service ! As I cannot speak for PetSmart grooming, daycare, or vet services, I will say I have had an amazing experience with their dog training program. I have a 4 month Australian shepherd and decided to sign her up for puppy training, as I have family who have also had pleasant experiences at this location. The trainer I got assigned to for this program was Rebecca and let me just say she is AWESOME. You can truly tell she loves what she does and cares for each and every pup that walks through the door. She makes the experience fun and entertaining...so much so *I'm* even a little sad when our sessions come to an end(lol). You will definitely feel like you and your pup have left with a new friend and a friendly face to see when you go in for any shopping needs. Looooool. So after complaining to corporate, the manager called me and offered EITHER a refund OR to fix his nails. When i questioned this i was offered both. I went back today to have everything fixed and they butchered his nails worse than the first time. I also pointed out to the groomer that last time i left, my dog was still scooting (meaning his anal glands hadn't been exposed last time). She tried to make it seem like it could just be my dog, instead of them not doing their job. When i was given my dog back a different groomer told me that his glands were full (meaning they probably weren't exposed last time. Imagine that!). When i complained to corporate again, the manager for the grooming department called and basically said "we tried, your dog wouldn't let us so we couldn't do it" my dog is 11lbs and doesn't bark, what was so difficult about controlling him? This review for the Cats in Need / Whittier group inside Petsmart. I feel bad for the poor fur babies needing a home based on the experience we had with the women managing this program. My girlfriend and I are seriously looking to save a rescue cat. Unfortunately for numerous beautiful babies they had this weekend, we will NOT buy a cat from them. From the start, they seemed judgmental and anti-adoption. Their comments were condescending and negative. They didn't really do anything to help us find our perfect new family member. They are supposed to find good homes for the cats, not discourage potential fur parents. For example, we saw a couple of kittens that really interested us. We asked to hold them to see how they connected with us but we were told no because of the risk of stealing a cat. Really? At Petsmart? I have had cats my entire childhood and adult life. As a child, we used to get them for free from local farms. We always loved them and saw them grow into their senior cat years. Currently we spend hundreds of dollars a year to feed the neighborhood strays. We also donate monthly to ASCPA. We are fantastic cat "parents". It sickens me that the attitudes and approach taken by these women does more to push away possible parents than promote a positive adoption experience. I would rather find our new family member anywhere else than with these women. Sad but true. read more

My friend placed an order online for his dogs along with my cat's favorite food that I have been dying to get for months. I am so happy that this location had some left. I know its far from home and traffic on 60 is one of the worst (I do not miss living in Hacienda Heights), it was well worth it. I got an email that the order was ready within 2 hours of placing it but I had to wait another day to pick it up since it was near closing time and traffic was awful. Went in the afternoon next day to pick up my order which was convenient and quick. Got there in 40 minutes, called and let them know I was here for the curbside pickup and my order was in my trunk within a couple minutes of hanging up the phone. Super easy and no contact with unnecessary people. How nice! I am SUPER DUPER happy about getting my cat's favorite food. My friend was able to get 21 pouches which I believe is ALL they had! 4 stars because I had an absolute disastrous experience with a short stubby Hispanic dude that looked like I shit in his morning coffee when I asked him a question about fish. It was my fault I didn't do my research but he wanted no business helping me and was so visibly annoyed that I didn't know anything about fish but was asking him. So after his little to no help he told me I would be fine with two goldfish and some flakes in a 2.5 gallon tank. Well after a couple days you could imagine how smelly and ugly the tank got with no filtration. So I did a little research and went back in and ended up bumping into an absolute angel which was RACHEL and not only did she help me but she explained each and everything thing I would NEED and what she recommends herself on top of the the needs. And now I have two of the happiest goldfish in a 60 gallon tank with sand and some decorations and sponge filters and filtration. To think that a bad employee made me leave the door after spending 30 bucks on a small tank to then talking to a good employee and understanding the type of care and quality they need and ended up spending $400 that day with Rachel. So shout out Rachel you were and are absolutely amazing never stop caring for animals. read more

I took my dog to be groomed at this location and I would never come here again, and advise people to stay away. I had previously taken my dog here with no issues. This time around I dropped him off at 8am on a Saturday to be groomed with Marissa, and they assured me it would take 3-4 hours. By 1:45 pm I had received no calls, I tried calling the location only for them to just unhook the phone and all I heard were dogs barking. I showed up to ask for the status of my dog and the groomers in the front looked shocked. All of them ran to the back and I kept hearing my dogs name be yelled back and forth. They then came forward with the manager of the store to tell me they think they gave my dog away to someone else. They got "confused because they had 3 goldendoodles". Time passes and i eventually see my dog be brought out by another groomer, calling him by a different name. I told them that was my dog and she insisted it was not, it was another goldendoodle. After they saw how my dog reacted to me they believed he was mine. He was not groomed, only washed. (6 hours in a cage only to be bathed). When the manager asked Marisa if she could give him the haircut I scheduled for she said "No sorry I don't have time". I told them I wouldn't like to book either way nor leave my dog in their care. I'm more mad at the unprofessional way this was handled. Instead of giving me answers all the staff did was hide behind their screens or in the back room. And I especially did not appreciate that Marisa did not once apologize or say anything about what occurred, she only hid behind the manager when telling me the news. Do not bring your dogs here. They mislabel them. And ask that we leave them without their collars. I appreciate the manager trying to settle the situation, but they need to learn how to organize this business, or risk losing your pets to someone else. read more
