I played soooo much with my friends Gemma and Prince, and I honestly didn't even have time to miss home because there was always something fun going on. I cannot say enough good things about this place. After a last-minute emergency situation picking my puppy up from another pet hotel, he was given back to me smelling horrendously like pee--and we were driving back to Arizona the same day, so we needed help ASAP. I called Barking Lodge Pet Resort to ask about pricing for a quick emergency wash, and Wil got my puppy in within minutes of making the call. All they needed were his immunizations, which I had and was able to forward right away. When I arrived, they took us in immediately. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and reassuring, and they walked me through the entire process. We waited outside while they bathed and dried him, and the whole thing was done in about 20 minutes. My puppy came out smelling so clean and fresh, and most importantly, he was genuinely happy--which says everything. I do NOT use PetSmart because my prior dogs were placed with super small dogs in a very small dog area (because my prior dogs were very friendly and chill). We have been bringing my rescue here for over a year. We have a rescue dog, Louie, who is very sensitive and nervous. We suspect he was abused so finding a good doggy day care and boarding was difficult. Initially we brought him for short doggy day care to see how he would react. I explained on our initial drop off that he was a rescue, new to us (we had only had him a few months), and he had not finished any training. After a nervous five hours I picked Louie up. He was dirty which was expected but not so dirty I would think neglect. He was excited to go home and tired from playing with other dogs. I was given a short report about his stay. Since he was a rescue and nervous, they kept him in a separate "yard" with older or gentle dogs. Several day care visits, Louie seemed to enjoy his time at Barking Lodge. He was also getting more obedient so I have a feeling someone must be working with him as well. I asked them to bath Louie but I received a text saying he was too nervous and anxious so they didn't feel comfortable forcing him which I appreciated. After two months of day care we finally did a boarding stay. It went wonderfully. They would send updates and if they didn't I would text for updates. On one stay they noticed his eye was weeping and he was winking so they texted and sent pictures. On another stay, we got snowed in during a blizzard and unable to pick up Louie until three days after his "reservation". They were very accommodating and gave him their "house" food when his ran out. Recently, depending on who's working and how busy they are, we get report cards on his stay. One of the employees also mentioned his allergy eye may not be allergies at all and maybe I should get it checked out again at the clinic. I have an appointment scheduled so very grateful for the care they give my little fur baby. Only minus is the parking lot is small and it's not easy to navigate but that's being very picky. read more

We had been coming here for several years. We've spent thousands on boarding fees for our dog. She has always had a positive time with the staff. As stated before, they are generally communicative about your dog throughout the boarding experience. Unfortunately, we picked up our dog last month from a long boarding stay. We always bring her straight to our preferred groomer after boarding her. The groomer notified me halfway through the session that he was going to have to bring our dog to vet because he found a large cut on my dog that I did not disclose. While at the vet, the veterinarian stated that the deep cut on her paw was about 5 days old and she also noticed another cut on her snout that was about a week old. I was never notified of these cuts. The vet had to clean them up and I paid $400. I notified Barking Lodge of what had happened and the employee I spoke with stated they were going to investigate the matter. First, I was told that I should have been notified of the cut. Then, I was told that my dog could have cut herself playing on the fencing in the play area. Next, I was sent a picture of the waiver stating that they were not liable for any injuries. Bijan, the owner, then told me that my dog likely hurt herself after I picked her up. I told him we went straight to the groomer and that the vet even documented the age of the injuries. He disputed that and said that the vet could be wrong. Lastly, I got a stupid letter from the staff saying my dog never hurt herself during her boarding stay even though the vet said that's the only place she could have hurt herself given that my family and I were on vacation. The ridiculous thing is that I just wanted an apology. That's it. I couldn't even get one. I got blamed. This whole process took two weeks. They really didn't take this seriously and I had to keep pestering them for an answer. I'll never bring my dog here and never recommend this place. Be warned that Bijan will not allow himself or his staff to take ownership of any injury your dog sustains while on the property. Enjoy your time in the meantime. Drop your dog off at your own risk. If you truly love your pet....Do not take your pet to this facility!!!! My family decided to give them another chance because they used to be so good a few years ago, and it was the biggest mistake we made. My baby, my Chesapeake Bay Retriever was in juried in their care and they didn't even notify!!! She stayed 4 nights there and was injuried between 330pm on the first evening to about 330 the next day and not a single person notified us so that we could come and take her to a vet! She had an open would on her face about 2 inches long and it had to have been bleeding because of how deep it was yet we were not informed at all. We picked her up 4 days later and saw her injury!!! When we asked about it, the staff replied immediately that she had stuck her nose between the gate and the frame of their facility. The staff knew it had happened and yet left her that way for 4 days!!! When we picked her up it was slightly scabbed over and pussy! We took her to the vet and because of their neglect to care for my pets injury by calling us, they caused her to have in infection!!!! This is what it looks like and when I contacted them they made every excuse in the book!!! First the owner stated he didn't even know she was injured because his staff didn't tell him. Then I got various text messages claiming it was not them or their facility. They did not even apologize for not letting us know sooner so that we could have gotten her immediate care for her injury. They kept making excuses to cover up what they did! Everyone can understand that accidents can happen! My issue is that they didn't inform me nor did they care for her injuries them self so they left her in pain and caused an infection! How awful and cruel can these people be! read more

The team at Barking Lodge is great. We've been taking our Pit Bull to them for a couple years. They always keep us in the loop with notes and videos on Morty's status and it shows they care. Our dog can be apprehensive about other animals but the team finds a way to keep all animals in a safe and supportive environment. Morty is also allergic to most food items and the team is great about ensuring he is feed his specific dog food and snacks.
