1/5 on the fish side of the store. The store manager with blonde hair and stretched ears makes crap up on the fly just to make a sale. My dad took me here for a B-day gift of a fish. The manager pointed out the most expensive freshwater small (for now) fish, an electric blue jack Dempsy ($35) and said it was a great starter fish, that it's fine in a 20-gallon tall tank, and would be great partners with a school of glo-tetras. Well as expected they killed him not a day later. Turns out this fish is aggressive and gets up to 8 inches which needs a MUCH bigger tank. Returning fish is sketchy at best here. You need to bring in water and the dead fish, which I understand. They then take it back behind the tanks to run the tests, so who knows what is being said in regards to how your water is testing. I wouldn't trust if the blonde guy would do it because he's said such untrue info on fish to me before. If you try to contest or argue that you want to see it they say they cant bring it out. This has happened several times, to the point where I'm done. Which is a shame. They have a decent collection of fish there, and the GM Doug is super nice. Don't go here to buy worm or any other type of reptile food. I went in today and bought a 50 count of wax worms. It cost me over $8 after tax and I get home to see there is only 26 worms in the container. Not only is there 26 when I payed for 50 but three are dead. So out of a 50 count I got 23 worms my lizards will be able to eat. Very upset to see this. read more

I noticed the bad reviews are extremely old-- so here's a more accurate and new one! I've shopped at this store several times and have no complaints other than price. However, the entire pet industry is overpriced-- so I'd say Petware House is not at fault for this. I have purchased several animals from them, ranging from freshwater fish to reptiles, and all have been healthy (except for the guppies, which are notorious for parasites regardless, so I once again don't blame Petware House). Staff are always personable and nice, and the animals are always in tip-top shape. As a bonus: they get their animals from reliable, ethical breeders so you don't have to search as much. TLDR; Great place! Overpriced, but for good reason. read more

Pet Warehouse seems to take care of their pets well however the behavior from their female manager is extremely unpleasant and rude. I visit pet warehouse often and I have spent hundreds of dollars there but there have been two particular incidents that have made me feel disrespected and unwanted at the store. The first being where I accidentally purchased an animal that was more expensive than what I had thought for it to be I had not even left the store property before coming back inside to return the fish after checking the receipt and the manager was very rude about it making nasty faces and being very short with me after telling me that they could normally only do half back even though i hadn't even left the store yet and then she continued to say that just this once she will do a full refund. and that was that. a couple days later i came in once again to donate some fish to the store for them to sell. once again the same manager was very rude while i waited at the counter for her while she was helping another she finally came to the counter the other customer got in line behind me and she only exchange a couple words with me before sticking her hand out to take the container with the fish all while making a "stank" face at me. it took me another half an hour before i could get the container back only because i asked another employee and they got it back to me right away. they had not even taken the fish out of the container within that time i watched the other employee do it and it took maybe 3 minutes. So if you do go to Pet Warehouse just know all the employees are very friendly except her she will disrespect you and honestly it makes me reconsider ever coming back to the store. read more

Much better than the chains around town. The employees are knowledgeable about not only both salt and fresh water fish, but also any reptiles, small mammals or bird you could need. The animals they have for sale all seem healthy and the staff really seems to care about them! It's a family owned and operated business that's been around for as long as I can remember. If you need a puppy, kitten, hamster, chinchilla, bird, lizard, snake, salt or freshwater fish, or food/supplies for any of those things, go to Petware House! read more

I am very disappointed with my recent experience (one day ago) with Petware House. Yesterday, I walked into the store to pick up the bulk products I buy. For every ten dollars you spend, they stamp your card one time. The girl behind the cash register had difficulty ringing up what I purchased and then after ten minutes decided she needed to ask me for identification. I went out to my car to get it, came back in, and someone else had to walk up to the cash register. It took the second person so long to come up (they don't keep any one person behind the register, not even on a weekend) that by the time she came up - there is a line, everyone appears annoyed, and I am ready to leave. I leave, and she forgot to hand me one of the items I had purchased, so I picked it up and walked out of the store....without getting my card stamped. You can understand I might have been a little distracted. I walk back in and explain that I didn't get my card stamped. A gentleman walked up to the front and immediately, VERY LOUDLY, starts saying that he is not going to hand me money and asks me who I think I am. You must collect something like 10 or 16 (it used to be 16) stamps before you can redeem $10, and I had not spent enough to redeem anything yesterday, so there would have been no exchange of cash or credit toward something else in the store. He immediately, without asking me any questions, began telling me that this is something a criminal would do. I am so appalled and embarrassed (again, there was a line of people) that I began to cry - and he continues to tell me that he is not just going to hand me money and that I can go. The hilarious part is, ....I have seven of these cards sitting at home FULL of stamps and ready to redeem; however, I never redeem them. It is NOT about the money. If you are short on funds, you cannot afford to shop here because they are so expensive. I appreciate getting the stamps because it is the ONLY incentive I have to shop here. The staff are not the most friendly, and I am starting to wonder how they stay in business. This store is not close to me, they charge twice as much as everyone else, and they refuse to order products for someone who has shopped from them for years (I order bulk products from them every month, and they refuse to order them every month - I must call in and wait a week every month). I have continued to shop here all of this time because they do sell quality products. How likely do you think I am to come back, and how likely do you think I am to recommend this store to someone else? Sure, they sell quality products, but at what price? Your dignity? The next day (today), I was called by another staff member and told I could pick up my card with the stamps. That's right. I can pick up the six dollars worth of stamps mind you that must have been worth a customer's dignity to this gentleman shaming me in his store. The most frustrating part about this whole ordeal is that this problem was passed off to yet another cashier to call me and tell me to pick up six dollars worth of stamps. It would take a free, one minute phone call to me (which they have in the store because I order bulk from them every month) from the gentleman running the store who told me I was doing something criminal to say, "Maybe I was a little bit out of line." Do not buy fish here! I have never had problems with my fish and I have purchased fish from this place on two separate occasions and their fish have developed ich BOTH times, while none of my other fish have gotten sick. I called them to let them know and the guy simply said his tanks are clean and my water was the problem. Something obviously isn't right with their tank and the guy hung up on me when I began to ask him about treating the water. What a jerk!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE- INCOMPETENT AND RUDE!!! read more
