I read this DDS reviews and specialties, bedside manner etc and I decided he was going to be my new Endodontist. AND the fact that he makes same day appts. FALSE ADVERTISING ! The first time I called and explained my situation, the lady (don't know her name but it is the same one each time I call) who answers the phone told me that I needed to 'confirm' that there was an issue with the tooth that needed Endodontic treatment. I did that and called back, I was told there were no appts for 2 weeks. At that time I was in excruciating pain. Still was told no appts for 2 weeks !!! So I allowed my Oral Surgeon to perform the treatment. He opened (accessed) the tooth and found issues, so he administered medication into the tooth prior to beginning Root Canal treatment. He also had to eliminate the top portion of the tooth. So I have half of a tooth. It will ultimately have a temporary then a permanent crown, but for now I have half of a tooth. Upon my return visit he determined that I needed to see an Endodontist to ascertain whether there was a crack as the tooth is still sensitive to percussion. So I gave him Dr. Jason Phans name and tried to get an appt. A "Same Day Appt" as advertised on their website. I think this qualifies. But, Hold on, I had my Oral Surgeon's office call and they were told I could come Mid-August !! So I called myself and explained that we had spoken previously and my surgeon's office called also and requested to be seen this week as my tooth may have a fracture. After pleading the same lady I refer to says she will see what she can do and call me back. She did and offered August 3rd!! Today is July 8th !! She says 'you should be ok with antibiotics and pain killers' !! For an entire MONTH. Without knowing if I took antibiotics and pain killers already for this issue... How utterly unprofessional, irresponsible, uncaring and rude! At one point she told me there are many Endodontists that I can see in the area. I wonder if Dr. Phan knows that this is how his potential clients are being treated !!! They are not given same day appts for urgent matters, they are told to take meds and wait or see another practitioner. I will take the latter ! read more

Dr. Phan and his employees are so friendly and kind. I've come here twice to have him look at an area that I was concerned with. They took x-rays and did some simple tests before advising me I didn't need any work done. If I did, Dr. Phan is the endodontist I would trust and recommended others. Dr. Phan was really helpful. My tooth had been sensitive to cold liquids, and my dentist referred him to he checked it out and tested my sensitivity to cold temperatures. He took a head x-ray and after the evaluation said that he wanted to be conservative about treating it. It potentially could lead to a root canal, and he did not want to immediately jump to that conclusion, which I very much appreciate. I have been treated by my orthodontist with Invisalign. He thought that it could be the result of my teeth being moved, so we set up another appointment to see if that was the cause. Such a relief to find an honest dentist. Brought my Dad to see Dr. Phan 4 months ago for an abscessed tooth. Since Dad is in his late 90's, we wanted to try the least invasive treatment first. Dr. Phan injected an antibiotic into the infected area with the hope that it would work, and the warning that it might not. We returned today hoping that it would be OK. Unfortunately, the tooth had deteriorated even more. The antibiotic did not reduce the abscess. Dr. Phan could have charged us for another "let's see" shot and sent us away for 4 months. Instead he gave us the truth - the bad news that the tooth needed to be extracted. Although this was not what we wanted to hear, the integrity of not stringing us along, was greatly appreciated. I needed a complicated epiactomy ( surgery on the gums) in the area where root canal was repeated in the same tooth and had substantial bone loss in the gums with substantial infection showing on the x-ray. Dr. Phan saved the teeth and the precarious old crown and cleaned up the area brilliantly. Surgery was done exceptionally well with the help of efficient, well trained staff. Referred to Dr Pham by my primary dentist for evaluation of a suspicious spot on gum. Dr Pham found an infection inside a previously treated root. After initial treatment, infection unfortunately returned. He proposed removing the tooth to treat the socket and discovered the culprit, a cyst. Following area treatment and replanting of the tooth, & approximately 2 mo of healing, the tooth is doing wonderful. Dr Phan is a superb endodonist. I received two endodontic referrals from my Primary DDS. Dr Kuwahara was one of them. He really is a good doctor, with a good bed side manner. He takes time to make each visit personal and thoroughly communicates about the procedure, including the odds of success and failure. After the procedure, he does follow up visits to monitor the healing process. I also found Dr Kuwahara's staff to be extremely helpful. I was prepared to pay for my procedure in full up front, but they only took half on the day of the procedure and the rest was 2 even payments 30 days apart. He was also better priced than the first Dr I visited, who suggested an extraction without conducting a full evaluation. read more

This was the first time that I saw Dr. Phan, but I'm sure glad that I did. I went in with a tooth that needed a lot of attention and I was expecting to have a full blown root canal done. However, based on his assessment, there was a slim chance that he could save the tooth. After his treatment, the tooth got better and better with a pocket in the gum that went from 12mm to 3mm. Broke my two front teeth and was referred over by my primary dentist. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to be seen on such short notice. As soon as I walked into the suite I was greeted very warmly by the receptionist who was also very helpful in filling out the appropriate forms. Before my procedure I was tended to by Dr. Kuwahara's assistant. She prepped me for the procedure and went over everything thoroughly which makes you feel very much at ease. By the time Dr Kuwahara came in I was all prepped and ready to go, but before he began he went over everything very thoroughly one more time and told me exactly what he was gonna do and how I should be feeling after. The procedure itself was pretty much flawless! I felt very comfortable the entire time and every now and then they would ask and make sure I was comfortable. The experience was overall great and even better due to the fact I came in on such short notice. Dr Phan, Dr Kuwahara, and their staff are great! About 2 months ago, I had to have 2 root canals that had accompanying, significant bone infection that was resistant to the first antibiotic. During this unexpected and rather annoying event, Dr Phan has seen me several times (and will see me for one more follow-up appointment) and has treated me with skill, compassion, and humor. Prior to these, I had 2 separate root canals with Dr Kuwahara. The first one was tricky because the roots curved at the end. All 4 root canals have been very successful. My general dentist recommended both Dr Phan and Dr Kuwahara and told me they are the best. Both Drs Phan and Kuwahara have a gentle touch and are very skillful. I went to Dr. Phan this morning for a possible root canal if he could save a cracked tooth that either needed a root canal or an extraction. He was completely honest, explained everything, and in the end was able to save the tooth, at least for several years. I have had 4 root canals and multiple crowns and other dental work. This was the most painless procedure I have had, it was faster than I expected and I was overall quite impressed with Dr. Phan and his office staff.
