COVID-19 informational review:…read more We are early in the process of getting my teen's wisdom teeth pulled so I don't have too-too much to say about the practice itself yet, aside from the receptionists and assistants being super-helpful and patient with answering my many stupid questions. This review is mainly to describe their COVID-19 safety practices. When you arrive for your consultation, you have to knock on the office door to alert those inside that you are about to enter. Once inside, you'll find that the waiting room sofas are wrapped in plastic and there's a large air purification unit running. After you check in and get your temperature taken, you'll have to wait outside near the elevators until you're called back in. There's a small bench there. During the exam/consultation, keep your mask on until they ask you to remove it. Right after they check your teeth, they will ask you to put the mask back on. Once the scope of work is determined, you will be instructed to get a COVID test that is dated 7-9 days before your procedure. It has to be within that window so they will recommend that you schedule your test first then call them to schedule the procedure. If they don't offer the information, you should ask about the days that your surgeon's schedule is typically most open so that you can work back from there. On the date of the procedure, you will be allowed to have an escort when you arrive and check in, but then the escort will have to wait downstairs in the car until you're brought down afterward. So bring reading material!

First, there's a consultation which was only ~30 minutes talking to the surgeon about the plan and examining X-rays. $150 out of pocket (with insurance). Dr Tsang was good at explaining and provided different options, but be prepared with questions otherwise you won't be able to talk to him till surgery day. Very easy to schedule procedure. Had openings available less than a week out. Does that mean slow business? Other places are booked a month out. Anyways, the staff and surgeon were pretty efficient and friendly. Was fully awake and conscious during the procedure and there were a few things that threw me off during the procedure like hearing the surgeon say, "don't use that tool it's bent and messed up. Let's throw it away". After he uses it on me... And "not sure which screw to use, we'll see after we drill the hole". procedure was only 20-30 min. And generally painless bc of the numbing + local anesthesia. However once procedure was done, quality of service goes downhill. I take an x-ray, sit back at chair and the assistant provides minimal information on getting medication and gives me extra gauze. Then escorts me to the exit quickly. It felt like they wanted me out ASAP. Also, was not given an ice pack! (Which is crucial to reduce swelling. When talking to other friends, they thought it was weird how I didn't receive one). So pack an ice pack for yourself before your procedure! They also failed to mention of how to take care of myself post procedure. Just a half page information sheet and they called that "good enough". They should've gone over it with me!! Once I go to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions, they inform me that they don't have my insurance (which the doctor usually includes). So this was an additional hassle. And the day after I have my procedure, my neck and face were completely swollen. It feels like my neck got infected and I called the office during the working hours to ask about it. The receptionist answered, but informed the surgeons were busy and would call back with an answer. Never got this call back and I called a few times after too. What if it's a serious issue? They don't seem to care.

I chose this office after reading the impressive professional profiles of the doctors. The physicians are Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons with notable achievements. Located at 901 Campus Drive in Daly City, a multi-tenant medical office building, there is plenty of free onsite parking for visitors. As you enter the office at Suite 303, you are greeted by a contemporary waiting room with comfortable seating and television, free wifi, and minimal clutter to help lower patient anxiety. The front desk staff are also amiable. On the day of V's oral surgery consultation, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, we met with Dr. Sy in a clean, professional space outfitted with digital display screens used to review scans, treatment plans, and imaging with patients. Dr. Sy provided us with a couple of informational sheets and explained to us the surgical procedure for the removal of V's complete boney impaction of his wisdom teeth. Deep sedation was recommended, which V was opting for. I was in tears, apprehensive of the deep sedation and had A LOT of questions (so many that the doctor asked if I worked in the medical field). Dr. Sy listened to my concerns and patiently answered all of my inquiries in detail, calming my fears and giving me a sense of relief. Following the consultation, we met with the friendly Office Assistant to go over the Treatment Plan Estimate. Surgery was scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, February 26, 2025. I was pleasantly surprised by how quick the procedure took to complete and was even more amazed that V was wide awake and coherent when I was brought back to the room where he was. He commented that he felt like he just woke up from a nap. Wow, are all surgical tooth extractions this easy peasy for patients?? Dental Assistant Adrian was extremely polite and wheelchaired V to the outdoor front entrance where I drove my car to pick him up. We were sent home with clear instructions and medicine times. Recovery was smooth, fast and easy, and the post-op check-up on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 3:15 PM determined that all was good. If it were just about her, I would be a patient for life. That's why it's with a heavy heart that I have to leave her practice. Unfortunately, her staff has consistently been unhelpful and disorganized. There always seems to be confusion, and I feel like what I communicate to them doesn't get relayed properly to the doctor. Since Dr. Leung doesn't take calls directly, there's a constant breakdown in communication. Her staff, sadly, will be her downfall. The final straw was today: I called at 3:00pm yesterday to reschedule my 2:45pm appointment, and they're now trying to charge me a $100 fee for not giving 24 hours' notice. While I understand the concept of cancellation fees, I had already arranged a payment plan with them because of my financial situation. To charge $100 over 15 minutes feels unreasonable--especially when I've always been flexible with the doctor's schedule during my visits. Instead of working with me, the staff only repeated scripted responses. I asked that they bring it up with the doctor, but they refused. In the end, I told them to just take the $100 out of the $200 deposit I had already paid. It's incredibly disappointing to have to leave a dentist I trust and admire over such a small matter. But at this point, I need to find a practice that values both the patient and their circumstances.

The head dentist told me to consider getting a crown since there seems to be a cracking on the tooth. They offered to cover the costs however I thought it was a bit extreme to get a crown from a routine filling. Over the next couple months, I would go back multiple times since the pain didn't go away. This included shaving part of the filling, redoing the filling, and trying to figure out my bite. And the final time I went there for a checkup, I was just told it could just be a neurological thing and almost made it sound like it was my fault and they can't do anything about it. The only reason why I kept going back was to give them the opportunity to fix what they had messed up. I ended up looking for another dentist and I told them my issue. They were able to figure what was wrong, and redid my filling. Now I have no pain.
