My experience with this place started with a phone call. I have been very nervous to contact a dentist but it got to the point when I realized I needed work done to some of my teeth. I found this place near my house and decided to call them. The phone was picked up by the receptionst with a comforting and positive sounding voice. She was very informative and helpful, a great contrast to the previous several places I have called the same day. I scheduled an appointment and upon arrival I did not have to wait. The dentist and her assistant were very pleasant and also informative. I had a lot of fear to hear bad news because it's been a long time since I've seen a dentist. They did a full check and cleaning and walked me through everything that I needed to get done. The dentist explained in detail with a positive tone the best way we could handle it. I set up with an appointment for the next week without any hesitation. So far I am impressed with all of the Del Rio staff. read more

I was on the hunt for a new dentist and was recommended Del Rio. In 1st grade I chipped my front tooth and had it re filled last in 3rd grade. You can see in the photo the filling was discolored and after braces a gap was formed due to my retainer breaking during covid. Dr. Del Rio fixed my old filling as well as closing my gap. My teeth have been my biggest insecurity and now I am so happy with my new smile. All the staff here are so welcoming and helpful and great communication. AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE UPSOLD AND LEAVE WITH WORSE TEETH THAN YOU CAME IN WITH! Went for teeth cleaning, minor chipped tooth, and laser whitening. Expected to love my smile and all I feel is discomfort and have un-whitened splotches on two teeth Cleaning went well although they upcharged $100 for something AFTER they finished. Whitening went ok, but after they finished the hour and a half procedure, they didn't even show me a mirror and just said thanks bye! I grabbed the mirror off the counter while still there and asked why there were two seemingly missed spots on my teeth, of which they claim I have fillings there and that's that, BUT I know for a fact one of those teeth did not have a filling, and if they knew that it wouldn't work there, why did they not mention it after the consultation? When fixing the chipped tooth, the dentist filed down the chip just fine but then decided to do the inner side of a whole other tooth next to it, of which was never discussed before hand beyond "you should do this too eventually" during the cleaning, making it razor sharp and snagging/cutting my lip and tongue without fail. She then filed down the inner side of the chipped tooth under the guise of "the teeth colliding", and now ALL of my other teeth collide, grind, and misalign my jaw because of the new gap, all of which didn't happen before. I asked for it to be readjusted that day and got put off til the next day because the dentist was on an "hour long phone call." Today, I go in and wait an extra 40 minutes past my appointment time, get told that "it's normal, deal with it, no pain no gain" and not one ounce of sympathy or intention to resolve beyond charging me more money to fix it. She acted defensive and was more or less gaslighting me to say I'm the problem. AND they tried to charge me more money! She refused to continue, and I was already having a panic attack and mentioned the need to talk to a lawyer in which she responded "go for it, I've got lawyers and money I'm not worried" I'm sure the assistants are nice people in general, but the dentist herself is an up-seller and a total buffoon that doesn't bother to clean up her messes. I'm sure there will be a PR response from them after this... take it as BS and avoid this place.. I will be doing my due diligence to report her to the dental board for incompetence if anything read more

After a couple weeks, she got severely infected. The tooth was never in the gums, it was knocked upwards into her lip and they couldn't tell the difference. To top it off i havent been seen for a while because theyre booked for months and finally take time off work for a friday appointment, well guess what Erica didnt book the appointment, i call to confirm early that day Im not on the book so they tell me i can be seen if i make it between 330-4. After driving from Piedmont to Redwood City to Hayward just to make the appoint, im 5 minutes away at 345 if i dont make it within those 5 mins i have to reschedule, you gotta be out of your mind if i will. After I read some positive reviews when I was looking for a dentist in my insurance covered network I decided to try this one. The first appointment was done by a web app without event talking to anyone their. the staff was very friendly. Waited about 10 minutes. The first appointment took almost 3 hrs including internal oral pictures, full x-Ray,cleaning and some treatments. Dr. Del Rio was very informative and patient. She explained to me in details for my case and what treatment she suggested and what result I world expect. After the treatment my pain went away. I had a few appointments followed by that to fix some fillings that a little over filled. I think she is careful to fix the fillings a little a time so it finally smooth out. This was my dentist when I lived in CA. Long story short, the wait times were horrible, the procedures were painful, Erica messed up booking several appointments and wasted our time and the time we took off of work to get to the appointment. She also indicated that she was willing to incorrectly date insurance claims in order to "help us out." No thanks. I got three fillings at this dentist. They were painful and I was left to wait for almost an HOUR, in the chair, in between the hygienist and the actual dentist. After showing up twice to get a crown that wasn't delivered on time (but nobody told me) and the second time, to an office from which they had moved (but nobody told me), I got the crown. It felt too big, it didn't fit comfortably -- I told Dr Del Rio and she insisted it was fitting perfectly. Fast forward a year. I live in Florida now and just had my first appointment at my new dentist. Guess what? My crown doesn't fit well and doesn't have a seal all the way around, AND my insurance doesn't cover re-crowning it for another 8 years. AND my fillings that I had done by Dr Del Rio - were poorly sealed AS WELL and have had cavities growing underneath them. So, I need to spend $1500 to have crowns put on those botched fillings. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL STUDIO. read more

I recently moved to the area and figured I would try this dentist since they were close by and have excellent yelp reviews. I had missed one cleaning (so one year since my last checkup) and have had 3 cavities in my life. Dr. Del Rio told me I needed 2 crowns and had 12 new cavities. That's not a typo! 12! I have good brushing/flossing habits and I was very disappointed that I had somehow let things get so bad, but didn't feel quite right given my dental record, so decided to get a second opinion. I took my new x-rays and the list of "work" prescribed by Del Rio (nearly $5000 worth), and he said he ONLY agreed that I needed one crown. After reviewing the X-rays and doing an exam, he concluded there was no decay in any of the locations Dr. Del Rio had identified. Be careful with this place. I feel very misled and have trouble believing this is simply a difference in philosophy. It seems absolutely dishonest. I could go on about how strange my experience was beyond this, but you get the idea. read more

The worst experience at a dentist I have ever had. I had a tooth ache and she immediately did a root canal to remove the infection, then a week later she did a second root canal. Turned out she lost pieces of file in the roots of my tooth. I do not recommend this dentist and I will not return. read more

I was with Dr.Del Rio for over a year after moving to the east bay, just like all the other reviews have said things were OK initially but did go downhill pretty fast. I finally realized it was time to go after multiple things happened, for example I had requested information on Invisalign and got conflicting information from staff about my coverage. When I asked for clarification it took them over six months to finally answer my voicemail, I received an email out of nowhere with the quote. Whenever I would call the office all I would get is different staff telling me they did not know anything and that somebody would return my call, well I never would receive calls back. Prior to this occurrence my husband, without me knowing, referred two of his family members to Dr. Del Río and both of them got an infection on the tooth that was worked on! I Never had major work done there besides cleaning, thankfully, but something is wrong if you have two people getting an infection! Do not go to this place, besides the lack of accountability the office is horrible, looks dirty and old. The staff initially told me they were in the process of moving and fixing things but I never saw anything in the works. So sad I'm sure this place will not last long. read more

I went for a cleaning, and they end it up telling me I had 10 cavities, they did 5 the first time, it was horrible, so I decided to go back to my old dentist because I was surprised that I had too many cavities so I went and my old dentist told me that I didn't have any cavities, at Del Rio Dental, they just want to take your money. read more

Made an appointment for my daughter over a month ago because they didnt have any open saturdays. I received 2 texts confirming todays appointment for my daughter and just arrived and their sign on their door says closed but clearly on their sign outside their door and their voicemail states that they're supposed to be open on Saturdays. They didnt even have the decency to call me to inform me that they were going to be closed today. Very unacceptable for a medical office. I clearly left a message on their voicemail stating that I will be taking my business elsewhere for myself and my daughter. Both my wife and I are patients of Dr. Del Rio's and have been with her since she opened this office. I have never received anything but the finest service from her and her staff. My wife is a recovering bone cell cancer patient that has a very low tolerance to pain and the cancer caused many serious problems, but none that Dr. Del Rio was unable to fix and to do so with very little pain caused to my wife. My wife likes seeing Dr. Del Rio because she know that she will get the best care virtually pain free. We both highly recommend Dr. Del Rio to all of our frieands and relatives.
