There are plenty of spots to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery, whether you're watching kids play, taking a break from a walk, or just soaking in the surroundings. But- parking... Brentwood Parks And Recreation needs to align with the city to help with signage for parking. The lot is not large enough (maybe 60 spaces not positive) to have two directions. Even with it being clear to many that the natural flow was counterclockwise, a few felt the need to go against the natural flow. Then the streets around the park were full causing the streets capable of only allowing for a single lane of traffic. Even with a clear flow and literally no room for cars traveling in opposite directions... some attempted to push in, causing longer stand stills. It's like trying to go to the zoo/forest park on the weekends. But the park itself is fun!!! I do wish there was more shaded areas within the park itself. Parking needs to be fixed... there is no way an emergency vehicle could have gotten in to help if help was needed. That is a big concern.

The walking trails and loop around the park make for a perfect spot to walk and get some steps in. They have a playground and a lake as well, so it adds a lot of variety. During this particular visit I went for book club. It was such a nice day outside so we decided to have it here. It was perfect to sit in the sunshine and enjoy while discussing our book. I don't know if you could walk Forest Park in a day and feel like you saw everything because it winds around and there are smaller trailers that pop in and out of nowhere. Surprisingly, I do not think the city takes care of the park, but an established group called Forest Park Forever, whose history starts back in the 60s, or 80s? They are a group of volunteers who tend to the park - every part of it, in every season, and really beautify it! There is security on patrol often enough so it's not too isolating and scary. There are parking lots closer to the main attractions. There is also street parking here, which adds to it being active but a park you can drive through, bike, and walk.

Also, it's very open and I can see all parts of the park so even thought it's not fenced, it just feels safe. The kids love that part of it is a tree that you climb inside. Bathrooms are close so great for potty training toddlers who have to go RIGHT NOW. There are 4 picnic tables in the pavilion, 2 drinking fountains and some sunshades with benches. We had our kids' birthday party there and it went extremely well. Super affordable to rent! The only downside is one parking lot is a flat trek to the playground but a longer one and the other parking lot is fairly close but you have to walk down a big hill and so then also back up. So anyone who is more limited with ambulation or someone who fatigues very quickly may not find this playground particularly accessible. Otherwise it is a super fun and simple playground!

Oak Tree Park pavilion is available to rent through the Brentwood Park system. It's pretty cheap ($60 for non-residents, $40 for residents). A beautiful driving park with nice gardens in St. Louis…read more Tower Grove Park in St. Louis, Missouri, is a wonderful large open gardens located just outside of St Louis. We were in St. Louis and decided to check it out. The park features well-maintained driving paths with 3 round-about type traffic patters and driving paths off that. These allow you to drive through the natural scenery and historic landscape without even having to leave your vehicle. Parking is convenient, with marked spaces available directly along the side of the road. This makes it very easy to pull over and admire the view whenever you spot something interesting. We were particularly struck by the Fountain pond and the area right next to it. We found a place right next to it and walked a few steps to some of the prettiest gardens I've seen in a while. We didn't have enough time to explore the entire park, including the botanical gardens section. Overal, it is well worth the drive or stop. It's a peaceful, escape right in the city. If you're looking for a relaxing way to see some nature without a long hike, this is the great spot. I highly recommend it to any fellow travelers passing through St. Louis who want a quick, lovely outdoor break. Enjoy!

It's all along a single road one-way that requires parallel parking. I only participated in the market, but I did see tennis courts and playgrounds. A Botanical Gardens is nearby that's highly regarded. On Saturdays they have music and food by the fountain. Absolutely a Saint Louis gem and can't wait to return soon.
