I've been to Geno's and Pat's in Philly. This isn't them - but it's darn close and I didn't have to fly 6 hours to get it. The food came out fast, the atmosphere was nice, and the place was clean. We met up with my extended family for a uncles birthday here. We were a large group, so I wasn't expecting quick service. However, these people were terrible. They managed to make 20 some odd cheesesteak sandwiches, 20 some odd sides, an order of hot wings and a salad before finishing 2 kids meals. First of all, they saw the children were young - all under 3, so there's not much 'waiting' when they're hungry. Yet still, they were very last to be fed. Second, the popcorn chicken was the cheap, SAMs club type, and by the time it came out, everyone was done eating and it was too hot to eat, so we ended up taking it home in a Togo box. If they had acted apologetic or even sorry, I and several others wouldn't have minded, or left a review like this. But not a single sorry was uttered from a single employee. We kept being told '5 minutes' and 'they're almost done'. Add in that the food was okay at best and definitely overpriced due to 'novelty', I don't think well be going back anytime soon. I don't get here as often as I like because the location is on the others side of Tulsa from where I live. I've been here twice. The first time I had a large steak philly. It was awesome, but I at the whole thing. Nobody should eat the whole thing. As a matter of fact, that commercial that was popular in the '70s that said, "I can't believe I at the whole thing", is how I felt. That philly is freekin' huge. The last time I came in I got the same thing but only half as big. I told them to hold the cheese wiz and use provolone cheese. I think the lady at the register thought I was nuts, but they accommodated and that sandwich was awesome too. I like it because you can taste the meat and not the just the overpowering cheese wiz. So of course, my standards are high! So today, imagine my disappointment to have ordered a sad, soggy and flavourless sandwich with some disgusting cheese like concoction on top. If you use cheese whiz the secret is to cook it into the meat, onions and peppers not squeeze on top, a flavourless blob.The bread resembled a hot dog bun, I asked for peppers and onions and there were none to be found. I'm sorry Tulsa if this is what you think a cheesesteak tastes like , it's not! No wonder so many reviews reference being drunk in order to eat here .This was just so disappointing though the people who work at this place were really nice ! Sometimes its hard to compare a food so synonymous with a city that's nowhere near where you're eating, but I've had the occasion to eat "real deal" Phillys on numerous occasions and I thought Phats stacked up quite nicely. I definitely over-ordered because I wanted to try the wings too. As good as I thought the Philly was, it was the wings that I finished instead, as I started getting full. Highly recommend this place. Can't say enough good about the sandwich. The tots, however, were over seasoned, almost to the point of not being able to eat them. Very salty, someone went overboard with their seasoning salt. The sauces they provide...ranch, and another one with ranch, horseradish, and maybe ketchup? was very good. Would have been 5 stars if not for the salty tots. My husband ordered his cheesesteak, but I wanted something different. i ordered the chicken salad. Now look, I have had LOTS of grilled chicken salads. This was different and completely delicious. Crisp romaine lettuce, red onions, pops of sweet tomatoes, honest-to-goodness bacon, shredded cheddar and the best grilled chicken, chopped Philly-style, in a bowl big enough to swim in. I ate here just this week with 2 co-workers. I always get the small Philly (no onion or peppers), chicken, mushrooms, cheese, and...bacon! The small is a LOT of food. Always get those crispy, delicious tots too. Next time I go need to try some of the sauces...Get there a little early (11:15 or so) to minimize your wait time. Awesome philly cheese steaks and service was friendly. The only kicker was that the whole location didn't have a single other patron inside when we went. However, the whole inside was very, very dirty. Food under all of the tables, most of the tables weren't even wiped down and the wooden booths were full of crumbs and paper balls.
