I found this place by accident, but it looked crazy cool and I was hungry so I went in. The decor is really well done. Warm, inviting and interesting with lots of art. The cocktail menu was creative and so were the mock tails. I love it when mixologists acknowledge that not everyone drinks alcohol, but they do like well made bevies with complex flavor profiles. I adore this place. My GF discovered this spot and couldn't stop talking about it. The decor has SO MUCH attention to detail. high ceilings and exposed pipes which usually in most places are dusty and painted white.. they are actually painted beautifully and very clean it gives off a very cool "steampunk" vibe. The library type book shelves are lit with awesome lighting, not to mention the cool art pieces all around. they had bunny rabbits that you can hold (YES cuz ya know..EASTER) and they are super pet friendly. The staff was so cool and nice, the owner said hi and pet our dog and even took a pic of us for the IG page! we felt so cool! The menu and food is insane. Its not just "bar eats" its high end cuisine. We got quail eggs with soju...and sake shooters. beyond delicious. I cant get over how much i like this place. The owner was so nice and you can tell how much she cares and how much she puts into the place, even the bathroom was awesome! They have a INN thats part of the bar/restaurant that has a seriously beautiful ball room and rooms to stay in. i cant wait to try one a little getaway thats close by but feels so far. Im leaving out plenty of reasons to go because there are just too many reasons to list. Its whimsical and just plain amazing. Our favorite restaurant of a three week road trip. The menu is a lot of fun: paprika flavored popcorn with candied pistachios is maybe the best munchie to have with a glass of beer or cider. The phyllo cigars filled with root vegetables was one of a kind and delicious. Their wine by the glass list was great (I'm afraid we may have tried them all). The birria was very well made. If there were six stars availability, I would still give seven stars. This is my new favourite in Eureka. And here is why- PLEASE SEE UPDATE AT THE END. The environment I could hardly do better myself and I pride myself with immaculate and out of reach expensive taste, yet Phatsy's has conquered a niche market with local and ethic accents with antique and historical undertones to bring to life a great place with a vibe, not pretentious, yet comfortable and inviting living room/speakeasy/luxurious personal heart. There is room to mingle, an outdoor area for us smokers, and a charming and comfortable bar, like that practically representative of the building's history, like that of an apothecary with tinctures to remedy anything. I would bring my grandmother there, my party friends, my nephew, and a date- and I would impress my date- unless I met him there, which would only be a check on the list for good taste. The staff is attractive and kind, personable and while they are talking with you, they are very efficient and professional making fantastic cocktails for you, AND at a reasonable price. The wine list is good, there is one cider that I enjoyed-I wish there were more ciders, but the bar is a full and then some bar, and the staff helped me find something new and different, and were knowledgeable about even the mezcal they carry, and having studied mezcal in Oaxaca, I was very impressed and thus had a lovely conversation with Brad, the manager, about that! The drinks and selection are of a great pour and a great aptitude for how a good drink is supposed to taste, the prices are very reasonable for what they provide. In that, my only complaint is not a complaint, yet a bravo- they use REAL sodas and fresh organic ingredients, not that which is provided by a distributor. When I want a Coke, I want a Coke, but they give cane sugar cola, which is amazing. Here's why- it's the best, for starters, made small-scale. It's healthier. It does not contribute any more money to corporate takeover. So I love that even though sometimes I want a Coca Cola, I am enamored by the will and drive of the owners to make a change through action, which would make me pay twice as much and support what I'm drinking even more. Downside- they close usually before midnight, but depends on the night and I'm just waking up. ALL IN ALL, this is the BEST of Eureka, and they take pride in what they're doing. And PRIDE ALSO in that I discovered a rainbow flag atop the building, so please bring most importantly a great attitude, tolerance, acceptance and love with a flare for a great time, your homosexuality, bisexual tendencies, straight and everybody is loved and welcome here. I couldn't be happier than to bring great people to a great environment, and this is where I bring them. Please go have fun, and I'll see you there as much as I can be there. AFTER HAVING POSTED THIS, I have had a horrible time twice. The Halloween Hostess was the rudest person I've encountered in a long time. Viper-tongued and self-righteous, she was rude to me and my guests who I invited there. Took forever to get a mediocre expensive drink, met the owner- she's got to get over herself- left with a bad taste in my mouth. Went again to have a drink out- don't know how many owners there are, but met another one, and she was worst than the next. Decent phone back for a reservation (2:30pm for a 6pm reservation) Truly great martini. = 1 Star Front Desk of Inn at C & 2nd closed 12pm-3pm.  Really?  FYI, there is no desk sign, they don't actually throw everyone out, lock the doors or acknowledge you if they are vacuuming (2nd floor housekeeper).  They just don't come to the desk.  You're lobby is hard enough to locate, you should at least give people the prize of your presence if they manage to find it! Waiter was also a bartender, gave us specials only when we asked and only gave them one at a time.  The real kicker: one of two women gave him the credit card to pay - he returned it to the only man in the group, then laughed that it mattered at all.  Let bartenders be bartenders and get some real wait persons! We went for Quail Egg Shooters.  They've added a significant amount of soy/salt.  Remaining dishes were terrible; burnt phyllo cigars, week old beets with duck confit could have been used as BB pellets, duck confit was ok until it cooled (which is very quick when you don't serve it IN something) and a flatbread that was good fresh veggies until doused in a horrid bbq sauce.  We wanted to enjoy and still had a good evening but Phatsy Kline's was the lowpoint of our evening. read more

The issue is that after I pointed this out, she assured me this would be refunded. The issue is she ran my card again for my actual purchase. The issue is that both of those charges posted to my account. The issue is when I went back to Phatsy's and brought this up with the manager I was given excuse after excuse and told it would take more than several minutes of "research" to get resolved. Not impressed. The place looks cool and I loved the cat theme but the people working in the evening were super rude. Such a shame, I was really excited to go to this place for my graduation but the workers were so rude that we decided to go somewhere else. This is America, not a communist country. Wake up, people. However, one of the employees in the morning was very nice and brought us water and made sure we had what we needed while we ate our breakfast in the dining area. I look forward to coming back here once everything is open, including the breakfast and tea time at the Inn at 2nd and C. Both the CDC and President Biden have announced that masks are not required as along as the person is fully vaccinated. As soon as we walked into the restaurant to get a table, one of the employees told we us we needed to wear masks indoors. We respectfully told her that we are all vaccinated and she continued to talk down to us in a disrespectful manner. My whole family and I were shocked by the tone of voice that she used and she kept saying "This is California! You have to wear a mask indoors because THIS is California!" We are all from California. We then said that people sitting at tables don't need to wear masks so we would just sit at a table so we wouldn't "spread our germs." She then proceeded to tell us that they stopped serving food at 8:45 and it was 8:47. So we're going to order some desserts and drinks to celebrate my college graduation. As we were looking at the menu, we saw and heard her talking very rudely about our family so we decided to go celebrate somewhere else. It's places like this that just really need to learn wrong from right. If she would have spoken to us in a more respectful manner, we would have either put masks on to walk 4 feet to the table or would have left.
