Do not let Rodica touch your beard. Even with a literal photo of how I looked after my last trim,…read moreshe completely changed my beard shape after pummeling my face painfully and spreading some kind of product not only on my beard but over my lips. Ugh. Maybe she's good at hair cuts or the other guys are good with beards, but she barely speaks English and made my crane my head backwards the entire time, which literally no other barber in my life has done....what in the actual? Complete disaster. Luckily it'll grow back but that's $60 down the drain. (Yes I did tip because even people who suck at their job need to eat)

He had dinner reservations. He told me he could do a clean up, once he did the cleanup and it was not clean at all I had him make two more alterations. All in all it looks fine, the 1 star is because he charged me for a Premier cut which is supposed to take 45 minutes and include a wash; he took about 25 minutes. And I had to drag him to get what I needed; paid $77 for a very unpleasant experience. Go somewhere else for your haircut in midtown.

I decided to try an upscale salon to see if there was truly a difference in the care and attention…read more From start to finish it was a great experience. Oka took an extraordinary amount of time talking to me and making sure to cut my hair as I expected. He was terrific. And so was Lake the individual who washed my hair. Never had so much attention paid to a wash. I will definitely be using this salon and in particular Oka from now on.

Made an account just for this. Reviews made me excited to try this place after failing to find…read morestylists in my area for men's wavy long hair (Shoulder to mid back long.) But most of those glowing reviews are pre-covid. I don't know if a lot of their stylists left but there's a notable lack of reviews post-covid. They're kind and the space feels lux and quiet. Problem is communication, went multiple times feeling very whelmed and changed stylist every time. After my third time I think I'm done, I've shown pictures and discussed with them what I wanted but they can never seem to get it right. Instead they default to a generic taper short off the sides and medium top cut, but then why tell me you can do the cut or even have experience with it? Is it my head shape? Face? Am I too ugly? Communicate that to me before you decide to just ignore the conversation we had and just free style. It's frustrating because I am growing out my hair for this cut and they do what they want. I don't want to be rude and stop you mid cut but then why am I paying so much just to be left unsatisfied? Most of the men leaving the place have the same exact cut. Anything longer than a short to medium cut is a no go, those cuts look clean and nice. Kept going in with shoulder length wavy hair just to get butchered every time.

Very old school barber shop. I got a shave and a haircut from Jerry and it was very well done…read more Nothing fancy here, but everything Jerry did was thorough and expertly done. I did call in advance to make sure he had time, he asked if I could stop by in 30 minutes, which was no problem. I was able to walk right in and get my shave and haircut.

I just saw a Times article about all the hipster barbershops opening up in Manhattan and was…read moreappalled by what I read. One jackass who charges $100 for a haircut talked about how a real barber (such as himself of course) only does 4 haircuts an hour. Really 4 haircuts an hour? That's 15 minutes each, which after getting in and out of the chair and prepping and combing equals about 10 minutes. You might as well go to supercuts to get that sort of crap haircut. Which brings me to Jerry's! If you are in the city and want to spend 1/3 of what some hipster doofus barber will charge you then check out Jerry's! I used to go to Jerry's consistently when I first started working in midtown but started going to a place in jersey near where I lived at the time, though I still pop over once in a while. If you are in midtown and want a good haircut, this is the place (great if you work in midtown and the boss is giving you crap about your shaggy hair). Mostly older barbers who can do a variety of styles (though I doubt they do shaggy hipster/bieber cuts). They give a very thorough, careful haircut. Usually lasts at least 25 minutes, since they actually take their time and go over it more than once to make sure it is perfect. It is pricey around $30ish I believe, but hey, its in midtown. And of course they use a straight razor, and less importantly but still really cool, they have an ancient hand cranked hot towel machine! P.S. Its very difficult to find (buried in the basement) so ask for directions at one of the rock center info desks located at each entrance.
