I scheduled to have a Tesla Wall Connector installed at my house. It was quick and easy for me to provide the pre-work necessary to receive a quote. They were able to schedule me in a week out and the install went perfect. Since this was a permitted installation the inspector came to check the work and everything was just fine. I noticed I had a 50A circuit breaker that was installed for my connecter so I asked Phil/Susan if I was supposed to get a 60A so I can utilize the maximum 48A onboard charger, they originally explained because a 60A circuit required a cutoff next to the wall Connector the price of the install is a bit higher. I was okay with 50A and not paying that extra cost for 8 additional amps. A month later I received a call from Susan so said Phil had been in communication with Tesla and the city inspectors to get clarity on the cutoff for 60 amps and they determined that upto 60A would be okay and anything after 60A would need a cutoff. Because Phil was able to gain some clarity on that they came out to swap out the circuit breaker free of charge. They did this almost a month and a half after the install, now that's customer service!! read more

During the process of my Tesla purchase I was given the name of this business for installation of a 240 volt outlet. I saw the three reviews and thought they must be good and initiated contact to start the outlet installation process. However, after making over 7 phone calls & leaving voicemails over the last few weeks, I am STILL waiting to hear back from them. I would totally understand if they are very busy and do not have time for the job, but a quick response to tell me so would be highly appreciated. It's just common courtesy. I don't imagine these guys returning phone calls in case I really needed them after using their service. Maybe it's for the best that we did not do business together. We just got a Tesla and got a recommendation from a friend to go with this company. So we contacted them, and after a couple of emails back and forth, a quote came back very reasonable! We went ahead and scheduled it. They came to the house and this charger installation seemed like a piece of cake to them. They were very professional and did all of the work. They connected the circuit in the breaker box, went across the garage, and down the wall to install the charger itself. The whole job took less than two hours, and the whole time, they were great to work with. I chatted with them a little bit, told them about my Tesla, and they were very professional and friendly the whole time. Ultimately, I got what I needed, and everything went to plan. They even told me that they heard a little humming noise in the circuit box, showed me where it came from, and that they would go ahead and fix it. Again, very professional. They vacuumed up after themselves, and told me they were going to take away the shipping box for me. Above and beyond. I plugged in my car, they validated that it was working, and we were done after doing a little paper work. If you are in the Roseville/Rocklin area, this is a no brainer. I recently hired Haupt Electric to install the Tesla charger for my new car and couldn't be more pleased with his services. Phil Haupt did a site visit, meticulously inspected and calculated my homes electrical capacity to insure the 60 amp circuit would work. Another electrician came over, spend 30 looking at my panel and said "no problem". The installing electricians were polite, on time and very meticulous in their work. After waiting on our Tesla delivery we were looking for an electrician to install our in home charger. After asking around and no info, we found an add for Phil Haupt Electric for EV installations where my son plays basketball at Hardwood Palace. We called immediately and received a reasonable and prompt quote from Tina as well as clear instructions on what to provide and what to expect. Once the appointment was booked our electricians Jesse and James showed up on time and they were very professional. They even helped moved a few heavy items I was unable to clear from their path. They moved the items and put everything back in it's place. They were great! They went over the details, gave me an accurate estimate of how long it would take and then answered a few questions. They provided me accurate paperwork and let me know the next step in getting the city of Roseville to inspect the charger. Again, they were very professional and helpful and the charger looks and works great as they stuck around to ensure everything was working properly. Justin did an excellent job with the installation, but I wanted to praise Tina Perry who walked me through the process and made sure I had all of the necessary invoices and permits making this installation painless and easy; she even scheduled the County inspection for me. Everyone we dealt with at Haupt Electric was fantastic. We had a Tesla wall connecter installed and also had some swimming pool conduit rerouted. Tina took care of everything quickly and professionally over the phone. Phil came out prior to the installation to confirm the quote was good because of something in my photos that he thought may be a concern. I contacted Phil Haupt Electric (PHE) after finding them on a list of EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment) installers on a manufacturer's website. I needed to have a 240v outlet installed for a Level 2 EVSE unit. Susan got back to me very quickly and asked me for some information regarding my setup and needs. Although they are located outside my local area, they were more than happy to help with my project. Susan was able to provide a free estimate and helped answer my questions about the project. When I was ready to go forward with the project Susan got everything scheduled and PHE did all the work needed for permitting, etc. Susan kept me informed at every step of the process and worked with me to make sure the project went smoothly. On the day of the install the electrician (Estevez) called before arriving, when he arrived I showed him the install location I wanted and he said it would be no problem. Estevez asked if I had any other questions, gave me an estimate of the time it would take to complete the job and then got started on the install. Estevez was very professional, courteous and competent. I had planned to ask if he could run the conduit along a certain path to minimize interference with other items on my walls, but I completely forgot. I remembered a bit later and went out to talk to Estevez about it, to my surprise he had already planned out a better route and started installing accordingly. Kudos for considering what was best for the client and not what might have been easier for him! Another pleasant surprise was that the owner (Phil Haupt) dropped by as well. He introduced himself, asked how things were going so far and even discussed EVs (electric vehicles) with me for a bit. The willingness to go the extra mile and to treat me like a valued client was much appreciated. Estevez completed the install of the outlet and then did a great job mounting my EVSE unit. We tested the unit on my EV to make sure everything was working. Estevez picked up after himself and left the work area clean. All in all the project turned out much better than I had imagined. Estevez took the time to make sure everything was properly installed and the entire install looks clean and professional. Susan then coordinated with me to set up the visit from the city inspector and provided me with all the information I would need regarding the inspection, etc. On the day of the inspection, the city inspector commented "your electrician is very thorough". Phil Haupt Electric did a wonderful installation of a 14-50 outlet for my Tesla. They did great work and were reasonable priced. They actually saved me hardware and installation costs by discouraging me from using the higher output Tesla HPWC. That decision is not regretted at all. read more

All went well with the installation of a Nema 14-50 plug in garage in Jan, 2018 until inspection time. Office staff submitted incorrect plan to building dept. listing installation of a 60 amp breaker vs the actual 50 amp breaker that was installed. Inspector failed the inspection as plan shows 60 amp breaker vs 50. Called Phil and explained the issue and was told a new plan would be submitted. Updated plan was submitted however the required $86.00 plan check fee has never been paid in 4 months since failed inspection despite numerous attempts to get Office staff and Phil to pay the fee which they agreed to do based on their admitted mistake. Can't get a reinspection accomplished until permit fee gets paid. Being held hostage by City building dept as well as PHE. Contractors Board complaint now filed to hopefully get resolution. Buyer beware if you contract with Phil Haupt Electric. Update: June 1, 2018: office staff delivered permit to me after paying $86 to bldg dept. Update: June 14, 2018: Owner did call me personally and apologized for the issues related to the inspection permit fee problems and wanted to make things right. I appreciate his gesture and follow up albeit a bit down the road. Have changed my review to 3 stars to reflect owners efforts to resolve the problem. read more

Phil started out well on my project (electric vehicle charging station at my condo) - promptly came out for site visit and clearly had the expertise to figure out what could be done given our tricky existing electrical infrastructure. Then he provided me a quote subject to technical approval by our local utility, SMUD. But after that, it was weeks of "we're waiting for a reply from SMUD" and I couldn't get any clear info from Phil or his office on what was going on. Finally I got another contractor out for a quote; that one was able to get not just info but also a site visit from SMUD within a few days. (I've since learned from SMUD that they have contractors say "I'm waiting on SMUD" all the time when that's not the case at all.) Ultimately I ended up going with another contractor and I'm glad I did. The delay waiting on Phil almost cost me the opportunity to get an electric vehicle, as the federal tax credits are likely ending in a few weeks and there's been a run on the more affordable EVs. I wasn't about to purchase one without knowing we could get a charger installed, as I explained to Phil more than once. read more
