    Thick Milkshakes

I haven't eaten here in years. Was really excited to go back there when I was in the area. First thing I noticed was that they're serving you at a plexiglass window now. The cheesesteak sandwiches are still on point. Don't remember it being so small but nevertheless it's still delicious. The milkshakes 10/10. I will have to get fries or two cheesesteak sandwiches next time because one isn't filling enough.

Amazing casual burger shop that cannot be missed! The service is so kind and helpful. And the menu is simple but don't let that fool you. What they do they do well! I ordered the phila burger which has pastrami on it in addition to the regular cheeseburger fixings... I was blown away by EVERY bite. How? What? Why?!!! I don't understand why there's never a line out the window! So good, savory, just the right amount of delicious pastrami blended in, the cheese is something else... I didn't even need any fries. I was in heaven. Do not disturb. Go here. Now. Best kept secret in the Bay y'all...

Staff was super friendly. I told him I have been on a cheesesteak kick and asked him to make the sammich HE would order. It didn't disappoint at all. I felt it was priced fairly for the portion and quality. I'm in the area often and this is going to be a place I go often.

It's been awhile since I've been. Came during lunch and it was packed. Picked up a cheese steak hoagie with no tomato, extra mayonnaise and omg was it moist!!! Bread was soft and the meat was tender. Would come back 10/10!!

Solid in flavor, small in size. It's a ToGo spot, so if you hungry you'll be eating in the car. Homie at the window was accommodating tho, for sure. Phila Steak had like a slice of pastrami in there, it was aight. Woulda bumped up, but the sandwich was gone in two bites aha.

Finally tried this spot and it did not disappoint!!!! Service was great and quick! Ordered two cheese burgers, fries and a cheese steak hoagie and it was only $30, which to me is a great price point. The size of the burgers was worth the price point a well. Thick patty soft bun and red onion. I absolutely loved it. Star of the show was the cheese steak hoagie. The bun, meat and cheese were literally married to each other I enjoyed it I will definitely be back. Side note it's an order up and take to go window. No dining inside.

Can't believe this place is down the street and I had never heard of it. Chocolate milkshake - REAL ice cream. Nice size. Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself Philaburger - My partner said it was delicious. I didn't have any but it was a very nice size and looked yummy Hoagie - delicious. Perfect size. Juicy. Great flavor. Chili cheese fries - we only needed 1 order for the 2 of us. It's classic chili cheese fries. Nothing special but it's exactly what you'd expect. The staff was great - very friendly. Will be returning.

Got the regular cheesesteak. Really good but pretty small for the money. Might need to order double sandwiches when you come.

Feb 26, 2025 3pm 3.8 stars…read more We stopped by for a Hot Pastrami and Swiss sandwich (we ended up with "The Point Richmond") and a coke. $19 and change. There is a learning curve. The sandwiches on the menu all have cute names like "The Point Richmond" and "The New York". That if nice except that- for example... if you want a Hot Pastrami with Swiss, you need to read every ingredient of every sandwich until you find "The Point Richmond". The menu lists it having hot pastrami though it doesn't have Swiss. We ordered that. The Point Richmond pastrami was warm. I was thinking it was just warm rather than hot because of, how you say...oh yeah.. Physics. The relitively smallish amount of meat ratio to cool moist vegetables and room temperature Dutch Crunch (Roll) bread couldn't possibly hold heat for more than the minute it took us to get to the outdoor seating. When I looked at the on-line ordering menu at home later. I read that if I want Pastrami and Swiss, I should have ordered The New York, as it has Pastrami (though not heated) and Swiss. I also found out you can order Extra Meat for $3.49 or Double Meat for $5.49. A first timer here would have no clue that they should order extra meat if they want a hot sandwich. The sandwich was fresh and enjoyable. The cashier and the deli person were friendly. It was nice to visit Pt. Richmond after these few years. I might go back and choose the Build Your Own option. "I'll have a Pastrami and Swiss please. Double meat, double Swiss cheese, with horseradish and sharp mustard on the side if you got em. On a Dutch Crunch roll. Heat that bad boy to the hilt please?"

New Life Cafe is located downstairs in Market Square Mall. The service was the absolute BEST! The restaurant was also clean and the environment was friendly! I had the pleasure of ordering their fried mushroom tacos and a Kay Luv's Passion & Plankton (passion fruit, mango pulp & marine phytoplankton) juice. The tacos were so flavorful! The taco contained fried mushrooms, lettuce, cilantro, green onion, tomato, a spicy sauce on top all inside of a special-made signature taco shell! The taco shell held together nicely and did not get soggy despite the taco being full of delicious vegetables! I really enjoyed my meal, so much so I cleared the plate. I was given a sample of the Mac no Cheese to try and it was creamy and flavorful. It is great that we have a healthy black-owned businesses in Richmond that not only care about feeding the bodies in the community but nourishing our souls! I also noticed they've received recent reviews, so I thought I'd give them another try. Unfortunately, I had another disappointing experience. I placed a pickup order during their posted business hours (8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) and received a notification saying I'd be updated once the restaurant accepted my order. After waiting about 10 minutes, there was still no update. I checked again a little later, and the app said the restaurant had never confirmed my order and instructed me to contact customer support. The customer support representative tried calling the restaurant to see if there was an issue, but no one answered. In the end, my order had to be canceled, and I was refunded. My suggestion is to make sure your hours and days of operation are accurate across all platforms. Customers shouldn't be able to place orders if the business isn't able to fulfill them. If there are limited or inconsistent operating hours, that should be communicated clearly. It's really disappointing because there aren't many coffee shops in this area, and I think a lot of people would love to support a reliable local café. I genuinely wanted to give this place another chance, but unfortunately, my experience was the same.

The name of this nondescript takeout operation is actually its address on Macdonald Avenue. Ironically, the most popular place to eat in this neighborhood is McDonald's. I barely found it because it looks like a vacant storefront with a For Lease sign. A red OPEN sign was the only giveaway. I happened to read that this place offers some excellent Korean-style dishes. I think the menu can be more accurately described as global. It's apparently a mother-and-son business with the kitchen run by a Korean-American chef named Daniel who doesn't share his last name. His mother works the front of the house, and people order beforehand and come in for pick up. There's a community table presumably set up for dining, but the space felt more like a dental waiting area. Through the order window, I could see Daniel way in the back beyond a passthrough. I used their QR code to review the menu and order on the spot. All the entrees appeared enticing including Grilled Short Rib and Fried Pitman Farms Chicken. I chose the $24.50 Market Grain Salad. It was beautifully presented even in a takeout box (Photo 9). There was a mix of arugula, iceberg, romaine, and Treviso radicchio at the base topped with visual jewels: Fuji apple, Sonia Rojas cara cara orange, blood orange, mandarin orange, muscat grapes, and avocado. Further toppings included spring onion., tarragon, sunflower seeds, English cucumber, heirloom carrots, and French breakfast radish. Farro, red quinoa, and French feta cheese added more layers of flavor and texture. Harissa grilled Pitman Farms chicken provided a succulent serving of protein, and a unique sesame soy lemon chili dressing finished off a masterful creation. It was an impeccable salad. The $11 Skin On Gaufrette Fries were cross-cut and impossibly tender with a tasty dipping sauce (Photo 6). A genuine winner!
