My wife ordered an egg burrito off the site (and me a sandwich) for dinner. They dinged us after a while that the order was ready for pickup. I went to the store to get it. There is no one in the place, there are four (high school aged) workers behind the counter. I stood there for a good minute. Not one came over to me. I moved over and got one of their attention since they were not going to come and assist (because you know, they were busy goofing off - there was no adult there). The order was NOT ready in fact, they didn't even make the fries. So they started the fries and I stood there while they were cooked. Why did you tell us it was ready when it wasn't remotely ready? I got my order and left, got home and realized the burrito wasn't there. I went all the way back and they said "we refunded the burrito, it's only served for breakfast" First off the menu does not say this. If it's only served during a certain part of the day THEN SAY IT ON THE MENU. Second, no one thought of letting anyone know it was refunded. Just did and went on about their day of goofing off. The people at the store there couldn't give a flying yahoo when I voiced my displeasure. The last couple times we've been here the service was almost non-existent and the orders are always messed up. Love the food and have been eating here for years. However, the last *three* times I visited this location, the owner (or manager, I don't know) was yelling at and belittling the staff. As I was waiting for my meal this time, I literally opened my mouth to ask the person I was with if they remembered the owner yelling when we were there last and before I could even speak, he started doing exactly that. He does not seem to care at all that guests can see and hear everything he's saying. So I can't really imagine how he treats them when there aren't any customers. I came here with family who were visiting from out of state, and it ended up being such a great experience for all of us. We had two kids in our group, which can sometimes be tricky when dining out, but everyone absolutely loved it! We chose to sit outside, and it was beautiful on a warm day. A burger and fries for $25 hurts my soul, but I'm always happy to support local businesses. This Red Onion has been around for probably as long as I've been born. It's a staple in Pinole, and I hope it will continue to serve for many more years! I got the Bacon Cheeseburger ($15) and an individual fries ($6.79). The burger was great and hit the spot! Feels like a standard boiguh, but with plenty of flavor. Fries were good, just needed more salt in my opinion. But $7 for an order of fries for one person is absurd. I use to eat here after 7th period (PE) when I was a freshmen at Pinole Valley. A lot of students would be eating here including cutting classes. This used to be the place to get fresh, delicious burgers, but I was completely disappointed with my visit today. The restaurant was noticeably dirty and didn't look well maintained like it used to. I ordered burgers to go, and when I got home, they were a complete mess. The burger patties were undercooked, the grilled onions barely looked cooked and were just thrown on top of the cheese, and the hot meat had been placed directly on the lettuce, leaving it wilted and cooked. The bun was soaked with grease, making the burger even more unappetizing. Overall, the quality has gone downhill, and this experience was nothing like what I remember. My cousin's husband passed away suddenly and we were at a mortuary for the viewing and we needed her to eat. We went to this place after 9, when they close at 10. They welcomed us with open arms even though they were closing soon. Johnny explained the menu to us and gave us his recommendations. We ordered our food and it was all amazing!! The floors had sticky black spots from drink spills that were never hosed down, and inside is just as grimy, which is why even my friends refuse to eat there. Also, I once bought a shake to go (because I won't eat inside) and the bottom of the cup dropped out inside my car. My husband wanted a burger and he wanted a good burger so I suggested this place since I wanted to stop and shop in Pinole. Pricey but I think the surrounding area and quality ingredients encourages the $17 double bacon cheeseburger "BIG DOG" that is sold separately from the $6.50 order of seasoned fries is warranted. I think this would be easily a 4 star review but when I called the server over to inquire about the jalapeño that was supposed to be in my salad the cook spoke up over the counter to inform me that he definitely put jalapeno on the salad. She grabbed a menu to look at the ingredients and he came to the table where we were eating after my husband responded to the outburst regarding freaking peppers. For me, the jalapeno peppers as an ingredient in the fried shrimp salad ($25), was a selling point. My husband was pissed about the cross talk . Anyway, the salad came in a huge bowl with plump Roma tomatoes, red onions( of course), lush greens, and avocado. The salad was perfect except for the missing or hiding jalapeno. I also had an order of vegetable spring rolls. My husband rated the burger a 7 however I think the jalapeno debacle soured his appetite even though we hadn't eaten all day. The establishment is very divvy with the kitchen being visibly in view from each of the 6 or 7 dining tables .
