First time coming here after checking out Island Pacific. We LOVE Island Pacific & Philhouse in Vegas so we figured we should give this location a try. Big mistake. We came 1.5 hrs before closing & the place was empty. We walked in and they only have a few selections left. Pork and chicken barbecue were COLD. They gave the thinnest pork liempo & complained to each other why there's no chopping board around to which someone replied that they washed it already bc they're about to close. The ladies and the guy cashier were loud and obnoxious, also a bit rude that we chose to dine in. I don't mind the loud singing but their loud chanting to each other made in unpleasant for us to stick around. Menudo was good but fatty, beef kaldereta was so hard like eating beef jerky, pork and chicken skewers were good but served cold, & rice was warm but hard. I saw one review that mentioned they were charged for something they didn't order...the same thing happened to us when we went to Island Pacific next door, so be cautious and check your receipts! read more

Visit to Vallejo and my dad took me here for Halo-halo (102° F called for it!) The halo halo was ready in 2 seconds and all they did was add the milk and some ice. Not really upset with that but growing up, I remember it being made to order and every layer of goodness could be customized to more or less. Sadly, no ice-cream, no leche flan (its best part!) and nata de coco (love that texture and chew). There was very little kaong (palm fruit) and only a few tiny pieces of langka. Yes, it was missing a few main ingredients (OK so it was a lot!), yet flavor was OK. I would have liked a lot more ice as it melted the minute we walked outside. When we got home, We added macapuno ice-cream and that made it much better. Not sure if I'll go back to order the halo halo but willing to try the filipino food next time. read more

Stopped by PhilHouse for lunch with my mom a few weeks ago. Seems like a staple place in the area for Filipino food. They had plenty of customers coming in and out for both food pick up and dine in. They also had a ton of selections on the hot plate and their overall menu to choose from; all of the popular Filipino dishes. Definitely a solid, local spot to satisfy your craving for Filipino food. PhilHouse is located on Springs Road in Vallejo adjacent to the Island Pacific Market and in the Bank of America shopping center. There is plenty of free parking shared by all of the businesses in the shopping center in front of the establishment and close by. As I mentioned above, a strong point for PhilHouse is their variety and offerings that target many Filipino favorites. The food is usually good and the few times I've stopped by, the staff seem to replenish dishes frequently to keep the offerings fresh. Service is efficient, sometimes a little rushed even with no customers. Depending on who is helping you, the ordering experience can either feel a little cold and too fast for comfort or friendly (usually the former). Pricing is competitive to other places locally, but can also be hit or miss depending on the quality of the food (and service) for the day. Though we usually take our food to go, there are plenty of seats for patrons to dine in once they order their food. The staff seem to keep the main dining area clean and well-maintained. When we go to PhilHouse it's usually an afterthought. We have become accustomed to attaching it to Island Pacific, the oriental grocery store. Lately, though, because other Filipino restaurants were closed the day we wanted Filipino food, we've been going here more often. The plus is that PhilHouse has veggie dishes other Filipino restaurants do not offer. The restaurant also offers authentic dishes such as the fried dried fish like tuyo. They sold me rotten sinigang na baboy yesterday on 11/04/24. It was past noon time or past lunch time. The tray on display was full and steamy. I ordered a large. I drove home for 20 minutes and ate it right away. They say adobo or paksiw tastes better the older it gets, this has a almost rotten taste. I had a fever so I was wanting something quick and easy for my meal. I was not cheap for a large entre. It was terrible and I was really disappointed. Since, I speak and understand the language... it sounds unprofessional and not very inviting. The place has ample seating. But, do not be surprised if there are rice crumbs on your seat, dirty tabletops, small spills of darker colored liquid, which I hope is soup?? They do separate recycling cans and bottles, which is nice. Grab your food, pay, sit down and leave. That is the flow here. Not very welcoming. That's fine when I just wanna get down to business and eat. No small talk or pleasantries. My parents prefer their food compared to some of the similar shops in Seafood City. You can get bbq, dishes, pancits, porks, sinigangs etc. I just like the soup/broth "Sabaw" from sinigang or Nilaga. They also have open dining to eat your food there. Some items we usually get are there kare kare, pinakbet, mungo, bbq, and sinigang. You can get combo plates or a la carte dishes. On the weekends if there's a line it does take a little bit of time waiting to get your orders and paying. They also have door dash so you just have to be patient at times. This place is a hit or miss. Their pork adobo is sweet. The chicken adobo is the usual salty and sour that I'm use to. The kare kare is definitely a hit or miss. You have to get when it's fresh out of the kitchen otherwise all you'll get is tripe and veggies. It's not the traditional ox tail version obviously because ox tail is so expensive now.. The lechon kawali is pretty much just fat. They also no longer offer sigsig as a part of the combo plate. Weird they would do such a thing as I just had it with my combo a few weeks ago. Don't be fooled with the display of different sizes of containers above their counter. You think you are paying for what the size says but NOT! They need to remove those signs, they should inform the customer that some items are sold by weight and not what the size of the container. It's very deceiving! I went there this last Sunday and chose "Medium" size container that says $10.99 or something for meat, the lady behind the counter went to weight it and I thought that was odd:( Anyways, it was already in the container so I went ahead to the register and $21.23. I know what you gonna say, that I could just say I don't want them anymore. My point is they should inform the customer before stuffing the container and ask if they agree that's all. I haven't had much Filipino food but this place is GOOOOD!! The only thing I didn't like so much was adobe which I've had better at home. I wanted to try something new and the lady behind the counter was very helpful in providing a suggestion. They have trays of food including fried fish, roasted pork, pancit, and stew like dishes. My favorite is the sisig, when it's fresh the skin of the pork is super crispy, even as a left over it's still good. They also have halo halo (which I didn't try) and this warm dessert with coconut and tapioca pearls I ordered 3 dishes in medium sizes and a large pancit, I was able to get 5 servings for roughly $35-40. It was more than I thought I was coming home with. I like restaurants like this where you can order and take your time to eat and not feel rushed. read more

The food is good but I walked in this morning at 7:10am. The sign was flipped to "Open" and the doors were unlocked. I waited for a few minutes. 5 employees passed me by and spoke to each other in Tagalog saying "we don't open until 7:30am." However no employees addressed me to tell me this. I waited to see if anyone would tell me, another employee walks in and says, "doors should be open at 7:30am," but not to me. To her coworkers.
