It is also unfortunate that be what it may, it is the doctor's responsibility to manage that staff and ensure each patient has a respectful, caring experience. Ron Yamane's staff answer the phone whenever they feel like it (they absolutely do not adhere to stated hours), and are condescending and disrespectful to patients. We've moved on (after several decades) to find a doctor who actually believes in a "patient-first" model, one to whom we can confide and trust. This is a shame: it's not often you see 3.3-star ratings for doctors, but in this case, it is deserved. No ill-will toward Dr. Yamane, I'm sure you can turn this around, but your legacy in Gardena has been severely tarnished by your management approach. Dr. Lin may be a "specialist" for his field (whatever that is), but it is out right WRONG to be obnoxious, arrogant, rude and abusive (both mental and verbal) towards any patients, not to mention towards staff members as well. Most of his patients are elderly Asians (Chinese) through referral because they don't know who else to turn to. Therefore, a lot of his patients simply swallow Dr. Lin's abuse and take his nonsense abuse. It's about time someone speak out the TRUTH about this ill-mannered doctor! Many of my parents friends visit Dr. Lin, I'm surprise that people still go to Dr. Lin and not enough patients step up to voice their opinions and speak their minds. Doctors are suppose to be helpful and caring people, not money making leeches as Dr. Lin appears to be. Shame on Dr. Lin. With that said, visit at your own discretion. At my first appointment he described himself as being a medical 'quarterback'. Not being a sports person, I'm not sure what he meant by it but I found him to be more of a middle manager. He'll take your vitals, order & review blood tests, prescribe some basic meds, but otherwise refers everything out. You don't even have to take off your clothes for any appointments - though this can be a plus if it's what you're looking for. My main issue is that he does not perform annual women's wellness exams. He will refer you to a Gyn. My prior doctor of 15 years & new doctor both regularly perform your annual women's wellness exam especially if pregnancy is not an issue unless you specifically request otherwise or have your own Gyn. For basic annual exams there's no real need for a specialist. My question is does he perform prostate exams on men & or is it just women's wellness he's not comfortable with? Because trust me, I don't like that exam very much either but it's a health necessity. If you're a women he may not be the right fit. He was very thorough in ordering lab test before your visit & taking vitals and reviewing them in great detail but he did not really leave time for addressing patient questions and concerns. By the time I got home I always felt that I didn't have a chance to discuss my concerns or he was dismissive of them. I always come in with a notepad to keep track of my doctor's comments & my questions. I did have one concern that I did a Telehealth appointment. He suggested I come in for a physical exam, which I did, but he never performed the physical exam. I was too embarrassed to ask. I came to Dr. Wallis when my primary care doctor of 15 years moved her practice too far. He came highly recommended. I was contemplating another doctor but chose Dr. Wallis on their recommendation. His concierge service was not feasible so I moved to another doctor who is a good fit.

He is really cheerful, very thorough, non-judgmental (I have 40 lb I should lose and not once did he ask me why I hadn't). Staff is also excellent there. My wait time was only about 10 minutes. Caveat: they don't take credit cards, so take cash or checkbook for your co pay. They do draw blood there for lab work, which my insurance company said wasn't done, so I did have to come back a day later, fasting, for blood draws, but that's not the practice's error, that's an error on the part of the insurance company. This is truly a wonderful, caring doctor.

I have never had to wait long in his office. His attention to detail, his level of empathy, the descriptions that he gives me when going through my annual physical, which includes a blood panel, and the his thoughtful approach to medicine has been quite impressive. Dr. Tong cares and he deserves to get patients who can appreciate his dedication to his craft. If you are somebody, who cares about your health, has a dedication to listening to those that may know more than you and wants to have a long term positive outlook on your health, please go see Dr. Tong. He has been helpful in so many ways from getting me in with specialists, as needed, for things that I did not think were a big deal like a chronic cough that has deteriorated my lungs and for which I am so glad about knowing now, and from understanding that food is medicine to helping me understand the importance of taking care of my whole health (sleep, mental, physical exercise, etc.). Nikki was completely confident with Dr. Tong from the first visit. Dr. Tongs mannerisms are inspectable, he is a very compassionate physician. Dr. Tong has a terrific way of communicating with his patients. It was at Torrance Memorial Physician Network where Dr. Tong expressed to me his concern for not being able to spend more quality time with patients. (see the review from Robyn). I believe it was hard for Dr. Tong to leave TMPN, but patient care was his first priority. Since Dr. Tong has started his concierge doctor service, he always has more than sufficient time to spend with patients. He makes sure to answer all your questions, and goes into complete detail about your concerns, in a way that you are able to understand. Not just medical jargon. Dr. Tong is not a physician that believes in prescribing pharmaceutical drugs. He has a more holistic approach for each patient as a whole person. Taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of an illness. Dr. Tong also provides (via-internet) roundtable workshops with different physicians of all type of practices to further your understanding of healthcare. I have never known any other doctor who provides this type of education to his patients. I have had two types of cancer diagnosis since begin a patient of Dr. Tong and I have the utmost gratitude for all the upfront and behind the scenes work that he has and did for me! Dr. Tong not only has sympathy, but EMPATHY for my situation. The way in which Dr. Tong provides his professional knowledge to your health concerns is truly remarkable. One cannot place a dollar $$ amount on their health and wellbeing of life. Dr. Tong has certainly been more of a doctor than I could have ever imagined.
