Males are $65.00. Females $75.00. Pregnant females are $100.00. All spay/neuters come with shots. As some low cost spay/neuter programs require, you do not need to be on any form of public assistance to be eligible. My daughter moved backed home with two intact male cats. I checked with my regular pet doctor and the cost would be roughly $220.00 per cat. Open Arms offered up on FB the above program. Appointments made. Cash or check only. My daughter took the two cats yesterday evening. She had an appointment for 6.45pm. This is an assembly line operation. The procedure takes about 15 minutes. You wait with the cat, or cats in this instance. Procedures were running about an hour late. The vet is/was Jonathan Kemp. And you, the cat owner, might be asked to assist. All of this sounds a tad strange. The bottom line is that the neutering process has been done. Effectively. One of our cats was resistant to being tranqued/anesthesized. Dr.Kemp administered additional anesthesia to make sure that Mittens was completely sedated. The odd part is that the procedures are done in the open. Sterile, but open. Cats came home somewhat confused as to the whereabouts of their family jewels. Other than that, they are fine. If anyone wants the contact info for the person from Open Arms who sets this up, PM me. Strange operation in that I have never been able to take a cat home immediately post surgery. However this worked! I'm happy, the cats are no longer attempting to establish their territory and I saved a ton of money! No GEICO commercial here. I need to reiterate that this is an after hours operation. I believe that this Veterinary office is primarily bovine. I did receive certification with respect to the neutering/vaccines. I'm happy, cats maybe not so much.

Doctor Marr is my favorite one. She knows almost all my cat's names and has sympathy for them. Thats what I am looking for a doctor that cares about my cats. Then on top of it all - they told me they were not working with me because I was rude. I was never rude and they were perfectly happy to have me coming in and paying them fees - but when I tell them I want my records so I can go somewhere else they decided I was rude and terminated the relationship with me. Will never come here again - their staff do not understand customer service and do not have a desire to make you feel welcome - when they are going to lose the business they cut you off even if that impacts the health of a pet. If you care for your pet - you want a Vet who will put your pet's health above all else and this place just does not seem to have that opinion. I work in healthcare and the joke has always been that the bad healthcare providers value the ABCs (Airway - Billing Method - Can they Pay). This is clearly the opinion of Westside Animal Hospital. We called and they took us right away. We had to make the difficult decision to let her go. The Dr. and staff were amazing with our kitty and with us. Dr. Murphy said a beautiful prayer as our girl said goodbye. They gave us the gift of time to say goodbye and made it as supportive as possible. EVERYONE at the practice was amazing and they didn't really know us. The next day we received a beautiful floral arrangement wishing us warm memories to ease our sadness. This compassion and kindness is rare today - Thank you to Dr. Murphy and Team.

The check-in lobby is extremely loud with little to no noise control, and the floors are very slippery--which is especially concerning when you have an animal that has had leg surgery and needs to be careful walking. One of the observation rooms also has poor to no air circulation and gets extremely warm. The biggest frustration, however, is the consistent wait time. A 3:00 appointment shouldn't mean sitting in an overheated room until 3:35 or 3:40 before being seen. At another appointment, we waited another 20-25 minutes past the scheduled time. At some point, you have to ask: why bother scheduling an appointment? If I'm late or miss an appointment, I can be charged a fee. Yet when paying customers consistently sit and wait 20, 30, or 40 minutes past their scheduled appointment time, there's no accountability on the other side. I understand emergencies happen, especially in veterinary care, but when significant delays become the norm rather than the exception, something needs to change. Customers' time should be respected too.
