Dr. Jamie Marr and her staff at Genesee Valley Veterinary Hospital have provided outstanding care to Grantley, my black lab/chow and best friend. Grantley is approaching 19 years old and has been with Genesee Valley his entire life. I firmly believe the reason Grantley is still with us is because of the complete and cutting-edge care Dr. Marr and her staff (as well as the previous vet), provided over the years. They are professional, caring, pleasant and thorough. Grantley actually enjoys going to their office. Whenever he has a health issue, they provide immediate assistance and follow up. If I could give this Vet no stars I would. Since the lady vet has taken over it has has gotten horrible.... we have barn cats that we feed and had to have one put down since he was about 18, and they had no bedside manner and then called the human society on us! We leave give our barn cats soft and hard cat food and five them water.. more then some ppl do for their own animals... this vet is very judgmental and wanted us to have all of our strays put down because this was too old... so your telling me everyone can grab outside cats and have them put down?? This place is horrible!! They have no regards for animal life nor peoples feelings when they have to end an animals suffering. They don't deserve to be taking care of anyone's animals read more

Dr. Marr and her team are amazing!! I've only had wonderful experiences at GVVH but recently they went above and beyond to save our sweet 9 year old English mastiff. We brought her in & her prognosis was not good.. she needed emergency surgery and there was a good chance she wasn't going to make it. I was absolutely devastated and Dr. Marr was so comforting & kind while also being very professional and informative. It's clear how knowledgeable and passionate she is about her work.The surgery went well and my dog is doing great I would recommend Dr. Marr 1000%. I elected to not rate this business due to the Vet (new owner?) I have had my pets doctored by Dr. Scherline, ever since he opened the business. The first 2 dogs we housed were gone before Dr. started practicing. His first patient belonging to us, was a small poodle with a very bi-polar problem. She was liable to turn on anyone nearby without notice. The only people that came in contact with her who hadn't bitten was my wife and Dr. Gene. She was a rescue dog living with us for ten years. When passed, we replaced her with another poodle who was jsut the opposite. Biaggio had some medical issues that required a daily dose of 2 pills. He was euthaised at age 19 havig gone blind. He had been deaf for several years prior. His last few months he had a companion. A blue eyed husky.Cheyenne, was a fantastic creature who greeted eeveryone that came into the house. He had some sort of kidney desease that got past the Cornrll U testing. He lived only 6 years. My personal favorite, was mut mixed. He was part spaniel and must have had some German shepard in him also. The kids all loved him as he wuld let them do pretty much anything to him. They even put a ress in him on Halloween. He lived to be 14+. At the time of his demise it was disovered that he had diabetes. His replacement is a 2 year okd American Standard Pit Bull. Another rescued animal that was found roaming the field aound Geneseo and taken to the dog warden. His temperment is the same as Chicos with the kids having the best times witth him. He loves humans and other animals. He sits and watches the chipmonks and squirrles play, often running over him a henaps on the deck. Dr. Gene and his staff provided all his medical needs as well trimming his nails. All procedures were done in my presence including checking out both ends of him. I still can not believe how he regarded Dr. Scherline's exams. Unfortuneately , the day came for Drs. retirement. His successer did her first exam of Reggie very soon after she took over. The first part of her exam took place with me in the room. The only thing that she didn't do in front of me was the rectal exam and his nail trimming. When she reentered the room with Reggie she said that I would need to medicate him before any services would be performed. This dog has been given all sorts of medical exams, needles, nails cut, and baths by total strangers. Whenever i bring him to their establishmenmts, they greet him with love and affection. My 1st experience with this Vet was bringing in my beloved 16 year old cat "Logan", there is a lot to the story but I highly recommend NOT going to this Vet's office. Here is my experience: After the Vet milked me for about $700.00 in quick fix treatments my cat was not improving. Ultimately the choice was made, tho' difficult to euthanize my baby Logan. I wrote out a check, as I had done the last &700.00's in visits for the euthanasia. The amount was about $190.00 more above the other balance. As life would have it I had some horrible personal life situations all at once. 1. My business was closed. 2. My home was vandalized by anti-gay homophobic people who destroyed the house to the tune of 100k in damage. 3. Logan was put done as just mentioned. 3 horrible life situations. I wrote a long heartfelt letter to the Dr. or Vet explaining the circumstances & asking if the check could be held, if not already cashed, for a week or so as we were in a mess? I waited a couple days only to find that the check bounced & was deposited 2 days after I emailed the letter I sent with an explanation. My 1st response was a personal reply via email from the Dr. himself. I will try to attach the letter for readers to fully understand the scope of evil & inhumane treatment from this quote "caring" Veterinarian. His threats included hunting me down personally with no where to hide with the full weight of police & law enforcement authorities to prosecute me for this small check that I had already written him about. I was amazed & of course quickly made payment but the absolute lack of compassion bears mentioning. My problems are not his,, this I know, but how we treat our fellow human beings tells us more about a person, doctor, lawyer or company than anything else & this human was & am still disgusted. There are a lot of Vets to choose from so be sure to by-pass this house of horrors. read more
