    Goodness in a bag :)

Pretzels are top notch. Rather than swimming in grease and salt, these are baked to perfection and need no extra embellishment to stand out. (But if you can't help but dip, go for the cinnamon sugar dip--amazing.) Catering orders available for the big game or that office party you forgot about, specialty shape pretzels for all kinds of holidays, occasions, and sports. Custom names and letters available if you order ahead (usually one day is enough notice--hand-twisting is done in the mornings, so the twisters need notice to "do their thang.") Oh, and the owners are great people. Yay Pretzel Factory of Ewing!

Smashburger looked and smelled great but didn't deliver. It was kinda bad dry. The toasted roll it came on was deliciously crispy. Service was friendly. Stuck in the back of the shopping center with Marrazzo's and Sal DeForte's, right next door to a ramen noodle shop, these friendly folks are hospitable and enjoy conversing with their customers. After a few questions I ordered their "The Dragon," burger combo. They do smash burgers here, and the finished sandwich looked like a half pounder in an oversized bun, with plenty of heat from cherry peppers, jalapeños, onions, topped with spicy mayo and creole cole slaw with a hint of mango to offset the flames. It needed no ketchup nor additional contributions, and was delicious from bite one. All the parts played very well together. A little drippy to be sure, but easily managed. It came with a pile of crisp waffle fries that did require a squirt of ketchup, but were able second mates to the main beefy attraction. This was a very enjoyable meal, that would only be complemented by the house being better suited for eating in, right when everything is at its apex of perfection. Shitzz n Glizzies has the potential to compete with the big burger guys in the area. Will have to let you know about their franks and steaks at another time, but there is reason for optimism.

During our most recent visit, I ordered the chopped Italian sandwich. I fully understood that it was intended to be a chopped sandwich, as described on the menu. My concern was not the preparation style but the overall value. Served on approximately a 12-inch roll and priced at about $17 with a side of chips, the sandwich seemed surprisingly light on meat and fillings. It also appeared to be missing the peppers I expected and had to request them separately. Overall, it simply did not feel like a $17 sandwich. What troubled me more, however, was what I observed regarding cash handling. During a busy lunch period, what appeared to be the owner removed a substantial amount of cash from the register and counted it in full view of customers. While there is certainly nothing wrong with handling a business's receipts, it struck me as somewhat unprofessional to do so in the middle of a crowded lunch rush. More importantly, after handling the cash, I observed him return to handling glassware without any obvious hand-washing. Because this is a cash-only business, I also observed servers collecting cash, entering transactions into the register, making change, and then returning to food service. I did not observe any hand-washing between those activities.

It had been more than a year since my last visit to Marty's Place. Time flies!…read more I was driving by this morning after court, having skipped breakfast at home in order to get a jump on traffic going into the city. I saw a new sign out front on a Bud Light white board that breakfast was now being served 7 days a week! Hot diggity! I parked out back and walked in to a mostly empty bar (2 customers who looked like they were regulars). The bartender approached and we engaged about their breakfast menu. It was pretty wide open if my desires had anything to do with eggs. They did. I opted for a sausage, egg and cheese on Kaiser roll, and mug of java. While it was being created in the kitchen I watched a show about exotic car auctions. A Borgati opening at a cool million bucks was an eye opener. Another black transport used by John Lennon around London was also put up and sold. Pretty cool entertainment. The sandwich was great! Double patty, fried egg, American cheese and a fresh, quality roll, made for a tasty and fun meal. The side of homefries was likewise excellent - hot, crisp and spicy with sautéed onions in the mix. Coffee, strong and kicking. The only shortcomings were the lack of a joe refill offering, and lack of utensils. Luckily, I had a spoon from the coffee, which was fine as a shovel. Afterall, Marty's is still a wonderful corner dive. It was made for comfort, not for speed, nor etiquette.

The omelette was delicious I just Didn't care for the tiny cubed potatoes bcz they were too well done like deep fried! Afterwards he bought us tiny little samples of homemade poundcake like pineapple upside down cake, caramel, and even a strawberry cheesecake flavor! Bill Really impressed me with his sharing of how he makes his stuffed cabbage since I'm Hungarian and told him how I make mine! I've been in the restaurant business for 40 years ( Retired on my bday 3/13/20 at the start of Covid ) but I have NEVER tipped a cook until today!
