Being repeat customers, this review is disappointing to write because we have enjoyed visiting this establishment in the past. During our most recent visit, I ordered the chopped Italian sandwich. I fully understood that it was intended to be a chopped sandwich, as described on the menu. My concern was not the preparation style but the overall value. Served on approximately a 12-inch roll and priced at about $17 with a side of chips, the sandwich seemed surprisingly light on meat and fillings. It also appeared to be missing the peppers I expected and had to request them separately. Overall, it simply did not feel like a $17 sandwich. What troubled me more, however, was what I observed regarding cash handling. During a busy lunch period, what appeared to be the owner removed a substantial amount of cash from the register and counted it in full view of customers. While there is certainly nothing wrong with handling a business's receipts, it struck me as somewhat unprofessional to do so in the middle of a crowded lunch rush. More importantly, after handling the cash, I observed him return to handling glassware without any obvious hand-washing. Because this is a cash-only business, I also observed servers collecting cash, entering transactions into the register, making change, and then returning to food service. Great fun foods. My wife and I travel 20 mins for their fried chicken, which is the best we have had. Lots of tasty casual foods on the menu - wings , milkshakes, highly respectable pizza. Usually when I read the menu I stop at the fried chicken. They cook it all throughout the day, so they don't have a huge pile of cold rubbery chicken at dinner time. The servers are super nice, too. Atmosphere very casual, kind of like a drive-in with indoor seating. Can't wait to go back, but the wife is a big complainer about going back to the same place. Me? Wow...The name describes it all...It's Nutts how good the french toast was. I had the peanut butter and banana stuffed french toast. It really is layered between the french toast (makes sense) but it is so delicious. I tasted the lemon ricotta pancakes and they have a very light flavor. I've driven by here so often that I think I just ignored it as a family casual ice cream spot. Several friends had mentioned it to me but I still didn't take notice. After enjoying some beverages at a nearby brewery I decided to stop on my way back homeward. My date was in agreement having been there once before. The crust was very thin and slightly sweet, sauce was good and the ratio of sauce to cheese was spot on. Would it replace my favs? No, but it doesn't have to with the large variety of other items on the menu. My date tried the vodka rig, and had them add shrimp to it, she enjoyed it too. So after an 8 mile run along the Delaware my husband and I need a quick fuel and boy was it delicious! We sat outside and it was perfect. Our waitress was friendly and quick together us coffee and water. My husband had the 3 egg omelet with a side of bacon and I had the spinach and artichoke and feta omelet . Everything was delicious. We happened to be driving by this place on our way home from a day trip. It looked intriguing so we turned around and stopped back in. It looks like an old drive in. They have a walk up ice cream window and a nice outdoor seating area with a small dining room. It's all very relaxed. The staff was pretty friendly and helpful. We ordered to go as we needed to get home. I had the personal whit pie with garlic and my wife had the fried chicken. The pie was amazing. Thin crust. Nice and garlicky. The empanada dough was different in a good way... maybe a corn? My fried zucchini was perfect... egg rolls not so much.. very bland and barely had any filling. Was looking for a place to refuel after a hike and this was ideal. The tomato pie came highly recommended... that's what I went with and it did not disappoint. While I was dining solo, I chose the family sized pie so I could bring the rest home and the thin and crispy crust reheated very nicely. However we noticed how thin the crust was. We didn't want to discriminate just yet...We each took a slice and noticed there was no "flop" whatsoever. It was so crisp. First time visit, however had heard some fair reports about this place from others, so thought I'd give it a try. Like many of the other reviews here, service was SLOW. They must have run out of coffee mugs, as my coffee was given to me in a to-go cardboard cup (mugs appeared much later, they must have been all dirty and waiting on the dishwasher). Server was friendly enough, took our order (breakfast) and 45 minutes later she came back to give me a coffee refill (I actually drained the coffee some 20 minutes earlier), when she told us they're backed up in the kitchen. We noticed this trend was going on at other tables, we weren't in a rush so it didn't bother us that much, but others obviously had things to do and places to be, and were getting a little agitated about having to wait so long. Plates appeared about 50+ minutes - 2 omelettes that were pretty underwhelming. Home fries appeared (and tasted) like cardboard. I mean they were REALLY bad. Omelette wasn't bad, just wasn't good, and we're paying $17 for these things. Ironically, the toast was the star of the plate, it was great. So I guess I can say I paid $17 for some really good toast? This place does not accept credit cards, and when I paid in cash, I received 16 one dollar bills in change as the cashier told me they had run out of change. So there's that. Suggestion to ownership - we have all gotten accustomed to most restaurants having a lack of staff, whether it be on the service side or kitchen, we get it. As the server told me this delay of getting orders out had been going on all morning, why not say that to new customers as they're sitting down - if I have to be somewhere in 40 minutes, maybe I'll pass you by this time and come back some other time, instead of sitting there pissed off waiting for food and running late to my next appointment? Anyone who is from Trenton or especially "the 'burg" knows what tomato pie is. We are very particular about our pies too! There are only two places I will go to for tomato pie. It's Nuts was just added to my list! They have amazing tomato pie. The crust might just be the best out of all the tomato pie places! The ratio of cheese and tomato is perfect in balancing out the thinness of the crust. We ordered plain and sausage pies and the sausage was delicious too. There was not one slice left to take home! For seven of us, 3 large pies was a perfect amount. On another note, the fried chicken. OMG the fried chicken! I have given up on ordering fried chicken anywhere because I never like it. It's either too dry, too greasy, too flavorless, too rubbery. I've never found fried chicken that I like. Until I was here the other night and my brother in law ordered two pieces of fried chicken as an appetizer. I tried some and omg it was unbelievable. Perfectly crispy and flavorful. Even the white chicken meat was juicy and tasty! They definitely have a secret that I can't figure out but it's delicious. Service was also very good. Pleasant interior, small but cute! They have plenty of outdoor seating as well. The prices were reasonable, not cheap by any means but reasonable for the quality!
