My wife and I had just finished doing the 14 mile loop trail around New Hope and were quoted starved for some food afterwards. Fortunately Patriots Crossing was a short walk away from the Washington Crossing lot and has a bike rack available to park at when we finished our ride. The food here hits the spot and overlooks the scenic Delaware River. I had the Chicken Hummus sandwich and it was just what I needed. Right amount proteins and sauce, and I'm always a sucker for a place that offers me sweet potato fries. The Apple Long Island Iced Tea was an interesting twist on the usual drink. The outdoor deck is right next to the D&R Canal with a view of the Delaware River bridge. We got a mushroom burger and a veggie burger and were pleased with the food and reasonable prices. There is a decent beer list with enough to choose from on tap - not just IPAs. Our server couldn't have been more pleasant. Pros- convenient stop while riding through the area on the bike. Patio has ample space and tables. Cons- the parking lot is quite small. It tastes like they haven't cleaned the beer lines in quite a while. They are short-staffed as there was only one woman tending to all the tables on the patio, and after 25 minutes we left because she never got over to us. read more

This restaurant is on the Jersey side of Washington crossing park. The food was pretty good. I would give everything an 8/10 overall. We sat on the back deck which offered a nice view. They had some good specials and an extensive menu. This place good use some renovations in my opinion. That's the reason for the 4 stars. read more

Came here on a Friday for lunch. Very cool antique place and location near Washington crossing with the back of the place having a view of the metal bridge and canal/canal trail. Decided to go here after hiking nearby, it was a nice night, the patio was very pretty and it didn't look too busy. The service was pretty good, but the food was just alright. I got the turkey club and I had no complaints, it tasted like any other turkey club I've had. The tater tots were very crispy and soft on the inside! My friend got the chicken fettuccini and she wasn't super impressed. She said that the chicken was a weird consistency, and the sauce wasn't very flavorful and just tasted like chicken broth. She also ordered the chocolate cake, which she said was decent, but you could tell it had been frozen. The drinks were tasty, and the prices were decent. Such a nice find just across the river. We've passed by a few times and finally made a go of it on Father's Day. No reservations, first come seating on the deck overlooking the bridge and walking paths. Too much shade to see the river. We were seated within 5 minutes. 2 adults and 1 dog. They were very crowded and tables were close together but that allowed for good conversation with our neighbors. Beer list was long, cocktails were creative, and wine was plentiful. There was a list of specials along with the regular menu of apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees. Happy to see vegetarian options. We had the mussels appetizer (be sure to specify marinara or white wine). Mussels were a good size for this not being an "-er" month. Note: marinara version had cheese sprinkled. Husband went for ribs and fries; I had fried fish sandwich and onion rings. Ribs were good - meat didn't fall off the bone, but had a good flavor. Fish was flaky, onion rings were excellent. Although it wasn't the first time we'd stopped at Patriot's Crossing when in the area on a Sunday, our most recent visit found the food disappointing. Hummus isn't an item I order out unless it is homemade. I was in the mood for something light, not meat, without cheese, and not fried, so hummus and salads were they apparent options. The hummus was touted as homemade, with homemade naan, and accompanied by some raw vegetables. Perfect option for the occasion. Unfortunately, there's more to hummus than tossing a can of chick peas in a blender with salt, dumping them in a soup bowl, pouring a little oil on the top, and stabbing the edges of the concoction with stiff, crisp, wedges of tandoori bread. (Yes, you did read stiff and crisp. Slightly stale should probably be added to that description.) The plate arrived, sans the vegetables, which the server apparently forgot to serve with them. This was remedied, but the vegetables - spongy sliced cucumber, woody carrot sticks (some inedible), and celery - were unappetizing and tasteless. Husband's cheese steak didn't impress me either, but he said he enjoyed it. The servers were friendly, but service seemed a little lackadaisical. The location is nice, particularly the outdoor patio. Warrior Watch members on motorcycles were passing through the area via the bridge, so it wasn't quite the relaxing repast we envisioned. LOL. While the food we had was great, the service was unfortunately not. As someone who used to waitress, I do sympathize with waitresses and understand things always aren't their fault however our waitress was incredibly absentminded the entire time we were there. Nearly every time she brought something out, it was wrong even tho she was writing stuff down. 1) my husband order a Jack and Diet Pepsi, and the waitress brought out just a Diet Pepsi at first. 2) we ordered the Cheesesteak rolls and were brought standard spring rolls. 3) my husband ordered a second drink towards the end of our meal, and the waitress was seemingly oblivious to the fact that she'd taken the order. She came over 3 times after if we were all set and needed our bill - no drink in hand. 4) we finally just asked for the bill and when we got it, had been charged for two Jack and diet's even tho we'd only ever gotten one. Like I said, I've been a waitress and know it can be difficult at times. Our waitress was the only one on however when we arrived, all the other tables expect one had gotten their food/was wrapping up their meal, and it was not crowded. While we weren't charged for the wrong items and things we never got, it would have been appreciated if our bill could have been discounted somewhat given the constant mistakes throughout the meal. And while our waitress kept saying sorry, I don't think she really cared that she kept messing things up and was ruining the night a bit for us. It's not a great feeling to have to keep telling your waitress they brought you the wrong thing or never brought you something. I would give this place another go because the food was good and it was nice to sit on the water, but I'd be nervous about the service. read more

This restaurant was a perfect venue to stop at following our visit to Washington's Crossing parks. The deck was really busy, so we had to sit inside, but the inside was sufficiently nice as well. I must give 2 separate ratings for the bar vs food aspect of Patriots Crossing. 5 stars for the bar/nightlife area 2 stars for food I've come here on several occasions at night and had the pleasure of a lively crowd and cheap drinks. They usually have a live band too, which has yet to disappoint. The crowd is pretty mixed, mostly locals, but everyone is very friendly. So I finally came in to get some food one day, ordered the $5 spring rolls on the happy hour special which were very cute, but clearly bought at shop right and just dipped in grease. I didn't have very high hopes for a happy hour menu, but I did for the pulled pork sandwich. SADLY, a sandwich that looked amazing at another table turned out to be barely worth eating. The pulled pork was dry, it was the first time ever that I had pulled pork that wasn't moist. There was a HUGE heaping amount of meat, but for nothing. It had fried onion on top that made it even drier. Thankfully the onion rings were great! My beau had the Arizona chicken sandwich and that was a little better. But essentially it was a chicken club sandwich. I am willing to give their food another try. It looks as if the wings were great and the fish and chips....so maybe I should've read more reviews before ordering. Hopefully mine will help you avoid some stuff! read more

Last Christmas Eve when General Washington crossed the Delaware River and marched on Trenton overnight to surprise the Hessian mercenaries in their barracks, he stopped in Patriot's Crossing for a cold one with his officers after the successful encounter. A very cold night, he chose to stay inside at the bar after the long ride on horseback. While there he was greeted by fellow rebels and militiamen celebrating their victory. Service was exceptional at the bar, with ample choices on tap or bottles. He particularly liked the Victory Summer Ale brewed down in Philadelphia, although the Dogfish Head dark was the favorite of most of his officers. Hungry, he ordered a southwest cheeseburger, loaded with onion, jalapeno chips and spicy aioli mayo smeared on the textured bun. His charge de camp ordered the mushroom swiss burger. Both came with fries or onion rings. The General always demanded "Liberty Fries," as the French had not yet done enough as allies to warrant naming rights to those potatoes. Their burgers were quite good. The beef recently slaughtered and ground by a local farmer, with no opportunity for freezing unless left out in the cold. Although camped along the Pennsylvania side of the river, this Jersey tavern had been off limits to all but the long boatmen who traversed the treacherous currents to trade in farm goods and military rumors. George Washington knew this, and counted on intelligence from these patriots to keep him informed about what they heard about enemy movement. This watering hole was an excellent place to carefully exchange information because although there were few Red Coats brave enough to be out of their encampments at night, there were still loyalists like Abraham Doan around and about, who would happily steal your horse and sell it to the British or trade in military secrets. In other words, it was a den of thieves and spies who bargained in hidden code and dastardly deeds for the right price. Perfect for the surreptitious exchange of information when the fate of the war remained unknown. The crowd has not changed much since the day the General stopped in to have a round with his men. The easy success in Trenton gave him the idea and the courage to attack again near Princeton the next day, to keep the Reds off balance and in retreat. Little did anyone know that they were witnessing an important turning point of the Revolution, when the dream of freedom became the possibility of true independence. Legend has it that General George stops in every Christmas Eve to carry on the tradition. The tavern owner keeps his barstool empty awaiting his arrival. A pewter pint of brown ale sits on the bar near that spot waiting for the anniversary party to begin. read more

I've been to this establishment numerous times, and always have had an awesome experience. There is great food, an original cocktail menu (updated each season), friendly and personable staff, and when all is normal, tons of entertainment and live music. However, I felt the need to write a review now giving my own point of view on what I witnessed transpire on Saturday July 18th. A previous 1 Star review has been written by a man recently (3 days ago) that is absolutely absurd. This group had come to eat on the patio while I was dining outside as well. It was a very hot 100° afternoon, but given the circumstances of restrictions due to COVID-19, we have to accept that things aren't quite the same, and it is impossible for restaurant staff to accommodate everyone's request as they normally would, if it was business as usual. The group began to complain that they were seated in the sun and uncomfortably hot. I watched the server offer to move the group to a table closer to the fan as well as offer to move the umbrella to attempt to offer them more shade. They requested a table across that patio that they were not able to sit at because it was too small and would have violated the rules in place that groups must maintain a 6ft distance while dining out. They then began to get agitated and asked to see a manager. When the manager came out, he politely apologized for the heat and explained that there was not much else he could do aside from move the fan more in their direction. The man at the table then proceeded to tell the manager that he was feeling lightheaded and faint, so the manager offered iced water and offered to call him an ambulance to come check him out. The man refused medical attention, but then asked to pack up all of the food (meaning that the food had to have been worth taking home) and demanded a 20% discount off of his bill. When the manager said that he was not able to do so because it had nothing to do with the food or service, the man became more irate and agitated and demanded to pay. On top of all of this these people took all of the credit card slips and did not leave a tip for the poor server who was running around on her feet for 11 hours that day in the same exact heat, in order to try and accommodate everyone else. I can also assume that since the shut-down she has not been working in the last 4 months and is relying on the tips she makes to play catch up on her life. Moral of the story is, the staff at Patriots crossing is amazing and handled the situation with respect and grace and they are trying their best to accommodate all of their guests. Kudos to them! And if you are reading this, if you don't want to sit in 100° heat to enjoy a cocktail and a meal with a beautiful view, then you should probably make everyone's lives a lot easier and just stay home. Restaurant workers can't control the weather right now and it is a guarantee that they are way more uncomfortable than you are, but they are still doing it with smiles under those masks.
