My disappointment came when I purchased "The Crowd Pleaser" yesterday. I chose the item after looking at the website. It was to bring to a small office as an afternoon treat and small token of appreciation. My gripe comes from the difference in how the item is presented online vs what I picked up. Instead of being arranged in a "Pretzel Factory" box they were simply put in a brown paper bag. I was a little embarrassed when I dropped them off. There's no doubt they were enjoyed, it just took some of my enjoyment as the presenter of the goodies.

First off, there were two people behind the counter, a young man and an older woman. I have never seen either one of them before. Usually, the staff wears green smock-style aprons with "The Larder" printed across the chest. These two people were not wearing aprons. When I got up to the register, I asked about a specific product's availability and was looked at like I was from another planet. I asked again and was given a quick, non direct, somewhat of an answer. Then after I paid, I said "thank you", to which both employees stood silent and turned away. No "you're welcome", no "have a nice day". That is definitely not the normal there. Also, I was not given a bag- I had to struggle carrying my purchases to the car. I hope the original owner is alright and was just off for the day. If today was any indication of how the store will be from now on, I think I will shop elsewhere. I hate to say what an unpleasent experience I had, as I have always enjoyed shopping here.

Unfortunately, the main event didn't redeem things. My chicken sandwich was underwhelming, small, and it could've used a good pounding to actually fit the bun. The beef had decent flavor but was begging for an au jus to take it to the next level. Both sandwiches came with chips, want fries instead? That's not just an up charge - it's a full side order, and you lose the chips in the process. All in, lunch set us back nearly $60 with tip, and we left feeling underfed in both flavor and value.
