I asked if they offered gluten-free hoagies. Unfortunately they don't but to save me an additional stop to accommodate one of my families, Eric went out and bought gluten-free rolls and made my specialty hoagies. I am working in Philly this week and after an exhausting day and a scary drive through storm Derecho, I decided to eat in. I wanted a Cheesesteak so I searched Yelp for a location closest to my hotel. I found Lees at 2.4 miles away. From the time I ordered to delivery, it was about 35-40 minutes. They must have been busy and I was glad that rhey came up to my 2nd floor door. :) I made sure to tip. I have delivered food before and delivering to multi floor doors that do not tip are annoying! So I ordered the cheesesteak 9" with their "special sauce" not knowing what it was, since there wasn't a description on the Yelp page. The sub arrived hot and fresh and was more like a footlong! The sauce seemed to be a sort of marinara sauce...on a cheesesteak? Lol. It still tasted good and I was only able to eat 1/2 so I now have two meals in one. I also ordered a bottles drink, a mega bag of kettle chips and the jalapeno cheese poppers. The bag of chips was decent size and remained unopened because I filled up on the poppers which were still hot enough to burn my tongue which was excellent since the food was delivered. The poppers were a little overfried but I still ate them. I just wish they had come with ranch instead of marinara sauce...although the marinara seemed homemade which I loved. It was flavorful and chunky. Overall, I gained two meals in one and am happy with the result, just wished the sandwich had more meat for the price. read more

The tuna fish salad slaps! I have been a big fan of their tuna fish salad for a very long time. I usually get a half tuna fish salad hoagie with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, raw onion, crushed hot peppers, and occasionally I'll add bacon. And don't forget a big bag of plain Herrs chips!! I also like the chicken finger platter with honey mustard :) The honey mustard is the good kind the creamy delicious kind not the stone ground stuff. This is the second time in a row I've come in and not received what I ordered. The first time I ordered a cheesesteak with extra cheese and barely got any cheese. I paid for it but didn't get it. The second time though is really baffling - I ordered a cheesesteak with extra cheese and got chicken instead and again barely any cheese. Pressed for time, I ate the sandwich, but the more I thought about it the more it bothered me. I decided to quickly mention it to the manager before I left and he half-heartedly apologized, but didn't do anything about it! Nothing. If it were my place, I would refund the customer's money and make the right sandwich to go. If they were pressed for time, I would offer a free sandwich on their next visit. read more

I've always like the taste of the food here; It's not too bland or too salty. Can't really say it's too different from any other hoagie places. They have a variety of selections with both cold and hot menus. The place is pretty cozy; nothing too flashy but it's kept very clean. The one thing is that it is freezing in the place. If you're planning to dine in, I would suggest bringing in a sweater or something that will keep you warm. They do have a food challenge here which I was always tempted to try but, my big eating days are behind me.. but if you're into that kind of thing and don't want to go too far to pocket an achievement, I would just go to this Lee hoagies and try it out. The reason for my 3 stars is because of the price. Like I mentioned before, the food is good but it's average. Lees is an absolutely amazing place to go for a good hoagie. Their selection is limitless and I would dare anyone to go in here and not find something they like. They have a wide variety of both hot and cold sandwiches. Perfect place for lunch or even dinner. Also I recommend buying the macaroni salad from the soda cooler. It is a great addition to any hoagie. This location even just added a beer cooler with a huge variety of single beers, six pack and even 40's to go. Lee's has been around for a while and there is a good reason for it. They have continued to make great food and offer it at a reasonable price. This location has been rebuilt twice due to fires and I'm glad its still around. They make one of the best Italian Hoagies around. I'm in love with their oil / vinegar and hot pepper relish. This location was always fun to visit because you could watch the planes take off and land across the street at the Navy base. Unfortunately the base has closed down. read more

I really don't know why this place have only a three star rating on yelp. I ordered south philly Italian hoagie and chicken tenders platter were delicious! The freshness of the bread, (I mean it was super fresh) - perfect amount of meats it was soooo good! The the presentation box was really good too, they use cardboard box for the chicken tenders so it won't melt through styrofoam containers like the ones from other restaurants. Normally don't leave reviews but saw a lot of negativity towards this place. Ate here recently ordered off of door dash. Food came fast, my sister and I ordered mozzarella sticks and onion rings, I got a meatball sub and she got a Buffalo Chicken wrap. She really enjoyed her wrap and onion rings. Mozzarella sticks were solid and the meatball sub was very good the roll took it to another level. I'd tell you if you had a bad experience to give it another chance. Stopped in with a Living Social coupon the other day and had a nice lunch here with my wife. I got the Italian Imperial, a leviathan of a hoagie, and my wife got the chicken ranch wrap, which she enjoyed. I've long been a fan of Lee's, and this is definitely one of the nicer locations. Here's my professional take on the Lee's hoagie: - bread: good texture and bland in a good way--the taste of the bread should not get in the way in a good hoagie (I hear they have seeded rolls now too, but have yet to try them). - meats: good quality, but perhaps a little much. I think that a hoagie is an exercise in balance, so it's important not to let any one ingredient outshine the others - hot peppers: the star of the show at Lee's. Seriously, get them. On everything. Their hot peppers (which are not all that hot, if at all) are a vinegar-y relish that pairs with the mayo on the sandwich to create the ambrosia of the gods. I come here for the peppers. So other points of note: - if you opt to go with water over buying a soda, their water is good (I know, weird thing to say). They have glass vessel with a spigot, filled with water, ice, and lemons. So the water is cold and subtly lemony. - the place looks very clean all around - good takeout beer selection Once again: get the hot peppers. Even if you just stop in to pick up beer. read more

They have a good value, good presentation; friendly customer service, and a nice atmosphere; but their cheesesteak is just above average. My visit to Lee's was easy enough. I went in on a Wednesday, which is when they have their Family Night promotion. This deal lets you get 2 of their twenty-four inch cheesesteaks, a bag of fries, and a two-liter for $25. I consider that a pretty good value. The bread is decent, but doesn't crisp and crackle in your mouth like the best ones do. The steak is a decent quality but a hair too far on the "sterile" side for my taste, by which I mean there's no grease! Nobody likes a gooshing, drowning steak, but this was a dry taste. The cheese was fine. On that note, they accidently put provolone on one of my sandwiches instead of the American requested. It wasn't a big deal to me, the person I ordered if for likes American better, but they absolutely made it right by giving me a coupon for a free half steak (a twelve incher here). I absolutely love this particular location. I was in town visiting from Atlanta and I always try to make a point and stop by and get a hoagie. The price for a half hoagie is perfect and well worth it! I couldn't even finish it all and the staff was more than happy to wrap it up to go for me. I got on the road to head back to Atlanta later in the day... got caught up in the snow storm in VA... pulled over and finished putting the beat down on my hoagie.
