Double meat cheesesteak!
Mike G.

A trip to lees is like a trip to my childhood and where I developed my love for Italian hoagies and cheesesteaks! The Italian cheltenham has been my go to for as long as I can remember! This location always offers quick , friendly service and the location is also very clean. The roll was fresh , the fries were great and the hoagie was what I remember... you can't beat the lees up and vinegar with crushed red hot pepper spread. I heed to visit here more frequently!

Phenomenal. As a West coast gal, hoagies are foreign to me. Lee's was the perfect introduction to this artistry. Quick, affordable, high quality ingredients - I got a true taste of what the sandwich culture in Philly is all about. Lee's is a humble establishment with plenty of seating and fast casual counter service. 5/5 stars.

Decent size kettle bag, not the small bag but the middle size one.

I am working in Philly this week and after an exhausting day and a scary drive through storm Derecho, I decided to eat in. I wanted a Cheesesteak so I searched Yelp for a location closest to my hotel. I found Lees at 2.4 miles away. From the time I ordered to delivery, it was about 35-40 minutes. They must have been busy and I was glad that rhey came up to my 2nd floor door. :) I made sure to tip. I have delivered food before and delivering to multi floor doors that do not tip are annoying! So I ordered the cheesesteak 9" with their "special sauce" not knowing what it was, since there wasn't a description on the Yelp page. The sub arrived hot and fresh and was more like a footlong! The sauce seemed to be a sort of marinara sauce...on a cheesesteak? Lol. It still tasted good and I was only able to eat 1/2 so I now have two meals in one. I also ordered a bottles drink, a mega bag of kettle chips and the jalapeno cheese poppers. The bag of chips was decent size and remained unopened because I filled up on the poppers which were still hot enough to burn my tongue which was excellent since the food was delivered. The poppers were a little overfried but I still ate them. I just wish they had come with ranch instead of marinara sauce...although the marinara seemed homemade which I loved. It was flavorful and chunky. Overall, I gained two meals in one and am happy with the result, just wished the sandwich had more meat for the price.

Food here is just downright bad. There are plenty of good sandwich places to eat around here instead of Lee's. Look elsewhere.

My wife heard about Steel Penny Cafe from a colleague at work who lives in Hatboro, so we decided…read moreto check it out on Thursday, February 12, 2026. We are glad we did. From the street it has a really cool look and the inside leans into an industrial style with a great aesthetic. It's a comfortable space with a nice vibe. We ordered a couple of cocktails: a lemon drop and a Manhattan. Strategically we decided to split a Detroit-style pizza called the Iron Pig. Good call because one square was the perfect amount for dinner. And now we have a few meals to heat up for the next few days. The drinks were excellent and the pizza was outstanding. Great flavor. Our server Ally was welcoming and friendly and top notch on service. It is the middle of winter so we weren't considering outside dining, but they have a great outdoor space near the street. Looks like a fun place to hang out. It's definitely a place we'd consider visiting again.

They don't have server tunnel vision, they work as a team and it shows! The vibes are so cool here. I mean, if you're gonna open a cafe next to a scrap yard, you have to lean in to the theming. I love the vibes, I love the appearance. The food is amazing top to bottom. First, their coffee drinks are always spot hitting, partly due to the fact that they roast their own coffee beans on site. The cocktail menu is always enticing an even though I'm not a huge drinker, I'll be working my way around this. The breakfast options are plenty and if you don't get their bacon you are missing out! The lunch sandwiches are served on a house made ciabatta style bread. Packed with fresh meats, cheeses and veggies. Every ingredient is perfectly seasoned and added delicately, not just items slapped on a roll. The Detroit pizza is what initially drew me in. While they have some options with more toppings, I'd say go for some of the more simple Detroit pies to really allow the famous crust to really shine through. My personal favorite so far is the white pie they do with roasted portobello mushrooms. I have only been for breakfast and lunch but with all the craft beer options I need to go back for dinner to sit and relax with some friends and family!

Everyone in Philly swears by their cheesesteaks and with so many spots claiming to serve the best,…read moreexpectations were high walking into High Steaks on Butler Ave in Fort Washington. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the reputation. We ordered Philly cheesesteaks, and while I was ready to taste something iconic, what I got was a black pepper overload. The seasoning completely overpowered the meat, which was disappointing. Even worse, the bread-to-meat ratio was way off. My roll was soggy, and no amount of mayonnaise or ketchup could save it. We also ordered onion rings and chicken tenders for our toddler. The onion rings were fried to the point of being rock hard. Not crispy, just tough. The chicken tenders were dry and flavorless. Our toddler ate some and said they were "good," but even she didn't want the leftovers the next day and neither did we. Hubby said to be fair, the staff was sweet and very accommodating, which we appreciated. However great service can't cover up subpar food. Sadly, High Steaks missed the mark for us, and in a city known for doing cheesesteaks right, that's a big letdown.

The woman who took my order told me all about them and asked if I wanted to add one to my order. I told her no, but I would definitely be ordering one to go. With that said, here is our experience. My pastrami sandwich was very good. The rye bread was good, but the crust was very hard and I could not bite throught it. My mom did not care for her corned beef sandwich and said the meat had a decent flavor, but was cut too thick. She also could not bite the bread's crust. Our latkes were tasty and you can't go wrong with Dr. Brown's cherry soda! Now, the disappointing part. I ordered take-out, one small chicken matzah ball soup and one potato knish. I ordered with the same woman who raved about their kinish and guess what, she forgot to include the kinish in my bag. She brought the take-out bag to our table and assured me everything was there. I asked if the kinish was there, to which she said, "yes, as is the soup". Drove home over 30 minutes and no kinish. When I called them, the woman who took my order and packed the bag said, "Oh". Yes, she credited my card, but still....I was so looking forward to that kinish. If you're used to NYC deli, this is not it, but it is decent.

I wasn't going to post this but if you actually sort reviews and don't just look at the top good…read moreones you'll see a lot of the same. Customer service. Old food. Lack in quality. I've mentioned in previous reviews that this location is not my favorite, I still prefer the Warminster location and that was true until I had gone recently and they moved their bakery. We had spoke to others as well who live closer to doylestown but still go to Warminster because it's just better. Maybe I'll go to Warminster when I'm in a pickle but overall I think I am done with the altomontes store. It's sad to say but this once great small business is falling and I know it will still continue to pull all the doylestown locals with $ to burn. So if you're happy serving lesser quality at exuberant costs to keep this inflated mecca Italian wonderland - so be it. But the heart of this business and the quality that Mike started is no longer. You guys really need to start paying attention to your business and stop trying to keep grow grow growing and doing all of the stuff on social media if you're not going to invest in the business and quality of what you already have. Got overcharged for pasta that literally had prices posted over all the aisles by $1 a box which sure isn't a lot but it adds up. Especially when people are budgeting and buying things by a cost. And if you're doing that to me then how many other people? Just go change your signs if you're increasing costs! They also don't have the same desserts here that they do at their alto cafe which was sad to see. I also don't appreciate how the ordering has changed. As others have mentioned too the deli counter isn't nice and they don't want to cut you fresh items. I also was directed to the pre cut deli case when I just wanted fresh cut meat. I'm just tired of spending my good hard $ at a "small business" that isn't so small any more. And forget about the quality too - I know I've posted before but the quality is not what it used to be. It's obvious they care about the bottom line then making a good product. The specials are aborrhent as others have mentioned - which as I've posted in reviews is especially sad because you see a photo of the product online and get something that doesn't even resemble the item you ordered. Its a shame that all these changes are taking away the quality and what many people loved. Sometimes it's not always best to expand and shift the business to be trendy and social media centric. Sometimes it's better to stay small and true to the original quality rather than being out of touch from the people that have quite literally helped you build your business.
