Honestly hard to judge the bagel with lox and creamcheese on it but showed up around 10am on a Monday and I was the only one. The place was "friend"ly and service was prompt. Everyone seemed really nice. Bagel sandwich was good and stuffed. By the time I left the place had about 5-6 mommies with lids waiting for their bagels. Good standard bagel place that was clean and within walking distance of independence mall where my hotel was located! Very clean and definitely seemed to have a strong following in the neighborhood. I got the classic lox bagel on an everything. This was my first time the worker recommended it to be un toasted because he said they were fresh- that's my kinda bagel!! Delicious flavor and you can taste that they boil them in beer, so interesting! Heavy on the cream cheese, good crunchy toppings and fresh fish. A solid solid choice for bagel. read more

This place blew us away. We were here for a wedding and wanted a gooooood Philly bagel. And boy did this place deliver! We got everything bagel with bacon egg and cheese and they did not skimp on ANYTHING. egg to bacon ratio was unreal. Bagel was crispy but squishy. I also ordered a cinnamon raisin with regular cream cheese and that junk was flame too. Guy who took our order was super chill. And nice. Ambiance was kick ass! They had a little puzzle on the wall we had to solve while waiting for our bagel. We don't plan on coming back to this shit hole city but if we do, we will def come to this bagel place. 10/10!!! read more

This place is poppin on the weekends! I live close enough to walk here but parking isn't great with the time you wait on weekends, so I suggest finding parking before or after this area on the street or a side street! Staff are friendly and store has a very clean modern look. I wish they had more flavors of bagels just because I'm a Bagel-connoisseur but they all are great and cream cheese is PERFECTION if you like the REAL stuff (I'm obsessed and have been on the hunt for good cream cheese) if you prefer the corporate harder cream cheese then just buy the bagels and DIY. The egg is fluffy and perfectly moist, while the spicy mayo compliments all parts well. I would've given 5 stars were it not for a $5 refill on an iced coffee :( Seems rather petty for a customer who just dropped a $5 tip on top of a breakfast sandwich. Have stopped at this bagel shop a few times over the past two years and sometimes thought the bagels felt old and hard to chew. Today, we gave it another try and it was the best bagel I've had so far in Philadelphia! Not sure if they changed something about the cooking process or what, but the bagel was just the right amount of toasted while still soft to chew. They have multiple options for bagels and cream cheese. I got the egg bagel with plain cream cheese which was delicious and my husband got the cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese. They definitely aren't shy with the cream cheese and each bagel was loaded with it. The shop is always crowded, but I feel like they always get the bagels/sandwiches out pretty quickly! Just before I moved to Old City, Philly Style Bagels opened a location near my new digs. The gods must be smiling upon me. I don't have to trek up to Fishtown for my bagel fix. The bagels are just my style: chewy, dense, and delicious. I don't bother with a sandwich anymore--these bagels were meant to be enjoyed simply. Butter or jam is all I need to enjoy them. And really, I don't even need that. They are good on their own. Online ordering makes it a breeze. I order as I walk out my door, and by the time I arrive at the shop, my order is ready. What more is there to say? Philly Style Bagels, and their new Old City location, make me very happy read more

First time in Philly and I just picked a random spot for a light breakfast. Let me say first that the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable about bagels. Ask them what they recommend and you won't be disappointed. The prices were fair and the coffee was great as well. They have a litany of different cream cheeses and bagel styles for everyone and anything. There's a few small tables outside for 2-4 people and the view of old style apartments and shops is lovely. Oh wow, not that many reviews here so far. These are outstanding bagels, but the ambience of the space is lacking, and everything whole wheat bagels (which are great) are only available 2-3 days a week. I so wish these were the standard, but perhaps their *exclusivity* will be alluring to some. If this is the old city location for the wonderful Fishtown bagel shop I visited a few years back, the environment leaves a lot to be desired. While that location is cozy and cute, this one is industrial without much old school charm. Can feel a bit like a school cafeteria. I appreciate that sort of environment...but they should pair it with some casual succulents, perhaps wood accents and blue/white tile. I'm not going to redesign their space on a Google review but they definitely need to look more inviting and put together. Right now, it sorta looks temporary. Lastly, the sandwiches are a miss. I also don't recall them offering avocado on the bagels at this location...and if they do, it was so expensive I didn't even register considering it. For the sandwiches, the bagel is either too small or the sandwich fillings are too minimal for the price - I haven't decided which issue is more important. In any case, the bagel sandwiches are unsatisfying. Get yourself a batch of their bagels to take home instead. They're very good. read more

Ignore the bad reviews. Philly Style Bagels ARE the best bagels in Philadelphia. Great sandwiches. Quality ingredients. Orange juice is hand squeezed but not necessarily on site but that is fine you won't taste the difference. Bonus: great iced coffee. read more

We are visiting from California and saw this place. Smelled great from outside so we decided to try it. I got an everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It tasted pretty good but within an hour I was so sick. I still stuck it out to drive to the Rocky steps and then barely survived the 35 minute drive back to New Jersey before throwing it all up. Definitely not worth the food poisoning. :( read more

Proximity being a factor, I wound up going back to Philly Style twice this week for a half dozen and then a dozen bagels. Both orders were correct and complete, and while they were out of scallion cream cheese the second visit, the plain was quite sufficient. The bagels freeze well and are pretty tasty. So I'm bumping them back up to four stars. Hopefully the less than stellar experiences were growing pains/Covid-related blips. read more

I won't be coming back. They obviously want to pretend they take safety and health serious but doubt it. I respect any business still wanting to have masks in their business even after Philadelphia and the state has lifted the mandate for vaccinated people. However, what I don't respect is any business who looks like a little kid took a piece of paper and scribbled a note in horrible handwriting asking you to put on a mask. Especially the week or so before they had a professional sign up. It tells me that they don't really care but someone wanted to put a random policy in place. Have some pride in what you put up. Of course it doesn't help that they are charging an arm and leg for a bagel. But obviously they are not putting the money in their signage. read more

We've been twice in the past month. First time, we got bagels with cream cheese and coffee. Not knock-my-socks off, but solid. Went back a second time and got breakfast sandwiches and coffee. For a family of four, we spent over $50 for a very unimpressive breakfast. The everything bagel had so much seasoning that I couldn't taste much of the bagel. I honestly couldn't taste one thing from anything else. It was all just heavy on the spice and salt. The egg was a square cut from a pan of precooked eggs. The cheese was white American (or so it tasted like to me). The bacon was very thin and added nothing to the sandwich. Everything was so salty that I tasted salt for the rest of the day. It also had a strange temperature thing happening. It didn't feel hot and fresh. Maybe because the bagel wasn't toasted and the eggs weren't made to order. The French pastry place down the block had a constant line down the sidewalk whereas this place was aways walk-up-and-order. Next time, we will try the patisserie. read more
