Everything bagel
Zoe H.

They have quite literally the best everything bagels I've ever had in my entire life. Every time I go i buy at least a half dozen. Completely coated on the top and bottom. SO GOOD. Thank you, Bart.

Great bagel shop! Lots of menu options and their bagels are pretty consistent. Tons of incredible spreads too. I stuck with a basic BEC on an Everything bagel. It was solid. My only wish was that they toasted it a bit more but next time I will say "extra toasted" and see if that does the trick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great staff and lovely outdoor seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I had a rosemary and salt bagel. I really enjoyed it, though it really needed more salt. There was almost no sea salt actually attached to the bagel. It was just rosemary except on about two bites. My husband also got a bagel sandwich with an everything bagel, and he liked it but thought the bagel was a bit too hard. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a bit of seating outside, but it was consistently pretty full while we were there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I mean, the cross section speaks for itself! Bart's is serving up some great Bagel, unique cream cheese flavors, and fantastic breakfast sandwiches. While it's a bit crowded inside, the staff are always nice and try to keep things moving. The patio outside is a great place to enjoy your bagel, but it would be nice to have a bit more shade out there. We've been back twice already, and I can't imagine that changing.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great quick grab&go breakfast spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had many bagel, spreads, and prepared salads. The woman taking our order was so friendly and helpful with recommendations. They even had gluten free bagels & vegan cream cheese. I appreciated the celiac protocol as well. I had an everything GF bagel with vegan cream cheese.

After about a year of sending prayers to the Big Man upstairs, he finally answered. A QUALITY BAGEL IN SOUTH PHILLY?! GOD STEPPED IN! I couldn't take anymore of The Bagel Place. One's soul can only take so many mid bagels, rude service, and bad coffee. It got to the point where my girlfriend and I started making our own bagels on Sunday mornings. When she sent me an IG of this place announcing Bart's opening in the area, my hopeless optimism took the wheel. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We entered on a Friday morning, and right when we walked in I knew the good lord had answered my prayers of quiet desperation: You can see them cooking up fresh bagels, it smells like a quintessential bagel shop in NY, employees actually smile and engage with you a bit, and the coffee is good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got our order after 5 minutes and sat outside on the patio. My GFs cheese pull on the BEC was actually legendary. One of the best cheese pulls I've seen this decade. Orgasmic. My dumbass got turkey bacon, and it's just so much less satisfying than actual bacon. There is no crunch on turkey bacon smh. But that's on me not on Bart's. I gotta take responsibility. Idk why I thought I was being healthy. No way turkey bacon is that much better for you than actual bacon... Lessons. The Everything Bagel was fantastic. A crispy toast on the outside, with a doughy interior that made me give an audible "DAMN!" Best bagel I've had in Philly, no question. Thank you for blessing us, Bart's. You are the oasis in the South Philly Bagel desert. The light in the bagel abyss. Ig @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Pilots breakfast

As a flight attendant on a private jet I was in need of good bagels, lox and whitefish. Boy did I hit the jackpot with Bart's. I called the day before and spoke to Holden who was a pleasant young lady who assured me I was contacting the right bagel shop. Passenger loved his breakfast and the pilots did too! Appreciate working with a fine business like Bart's.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Love this location and their seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Owner and staff are very chill and attentive, but also very kind! I have ordered everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, cinnamon raisin bagel, and onion bagel. These were great, though I kind of wish the cinnamon raisin bagel had a tad more raisin (I know... I'm strange). The cream cheese is different for sure and I'm not used to it... it's not bad, but i feel like it tastes a bit salty? I like the sodium in cream cheese to be little less noticeable, though maybe that's just my own preference. Either way, it's a great bagel spot with kick ass coffee. I'm rooting for this business!

Chunky whitefish salad

Halalujiah! I have finally found bagel heaven. I decided to try Bart's because they said their whitefish salad was made in house. I generally make my own whitefish salad because all the ones I've ever bought are terrible, mushy and bland. Bart's is awesome! Chunky and delicious. My only note would be a little too much mayo, so I give it a 9 not a 10. The bagels are perfection. Crusty with a grat chew. Dense and loaded with toppings. I am never going anywhere else for bagels, my search for bagel Nirvana is over.

Cute shop serving solid bagel sandwiches, especially for Philly. Coming from Jersey, I wasn't blown away by the bagels but wasn't disappointed either. Service was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They don't have any indoor seating, but they do have an outdoor patio for the warmer weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pricing for an egg and cheese is around $5.50 and sandwiches with smoked fish are $12+ depending on the toppings. My friends who got smoked fish/fish salads were very satisfied. They also have monthly specials.

My partner is a classic New Yorker bagel snob and has been on the hunt for the best bagel in Philly. At its best, Bart's Bagels is that place. We stopped by a few days after they opened and our bagels were really, really good. The texture was that perfect mix of crisp exterior and chewy, dense interior, and the bagels were uniformly shaped. We were really thrilled. The fun cream cheese flavors (long hot cream cheese!) were an added bonus. Unfortunately, the last time we went, our bagels were both a little undercooked, so they were too dense and kind of tough in the middle. I also ordered a sesame and an everything bagel, and the order ticket had the bagels listed correctly, but when we opened the bag at home, we had two sesame bagels. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The little patio seating area is cute - just note that one of the tables is underneath the exhaust vent, so if they're making bagels while you're there, the table does get toasty![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Love seeing a positive face in the morning! I orders a BEC on sea salt rosemary-- my goto. Bagels were out in ~5 minutes, and it was a delicious bit to eat with coffee later on. The shop here is pick-up only, and on some mornings when I've visited especially in the winter, it's kind of painful to wait inside because it started to get a bit cramped. More just a heads up but not a piece of feedback though since their lot is pretty small. If you're grabbing breakfast in the Rittenhouse area, this is nice option for you! Just know that you'll have to take it to-go and eat it elsewhere.

The everything bagel seasoning was very good but the bagel was mediocre. The bagel was loaded with strawberry cream cheese which had good flavor. The others had regular bagels and had better reviews of the bagels. A couple egg sandwiches were described as being "good" and a plain bagel with cream cheese was given similar review. I'm not sure it's the kind of bagel shop that I would go racing back to at any point but it was decent. A bright light was how good the staff was to work with in terms of being friendly while placing an order. Probably brought this review from a 3 to a 4 based upon the staff interaction.

When I order a bagel,…read moreI'll tell them the type of bagel, whether I want it toasted (always yes for me), the type of cream cheese (scallion vegan cream cheese), and then any additions that I want (usually tomato and onion). When ordering coffee, I'll let them know what I want (drip coffee) with whatever kind of milk (with heavy oat milk enough to change colour) and sweetener (with sugar please). Then you let them know any sides you want. I may or may not be saying it a bit quickly, because I'm half awake, and running on auto pilot, because I've lived in the Northeast for so long. The absolutely delightful lady behind the counter got it all recorded, fired, and sorted as and when it was coming out of my mouth. Confirmed everything, collected my payment, and we kept it pumping. As soon as the coffee was ready, called me over to grab it, because it was chilly and rainy while we waited. When one of the items I was ordering was taking a long time, the staff let me know that the item was taking a while longer than expected to finish cooking. My food came out perfectly done. Also, when they pass you your food, they confirm how many things you're ordering to make sure you get all your stuff. This operation is efficient, fast, and friendly. It's inexpensive for what you're getting. Coffee is excellent. Bagels have that snappy exterior, and chewy insides. Hash browns are crisp and piping hot. Coffee is rich and dark. Genuinely, you can't have any complaints when everything is done just right.

I went to Middle Child a few weeks ago just after 3, only to find it closes at 3. Today I returned, around 1, and there was a good crowd there having lunch. I ordered the Surfer, and the Hash Brown Potatoes. The Surfer is Middle Child's most popular sandwich. It's made on a Ciabatta bun, and has a thick layering of tender, lean, House Turkey breast, with melty Swiss cheese, arugula, blueberry chutney, and Duke's mayo. It's hard to describe just how delicious this sandwich was. My biggest concern was the Ciabatta bun - it's not one of my favorites, as I've found them to be tough and difficult to bite through. My fears were quickly put to rest after the first bite! The bun had a slightly crispy exterior - and when I followed through with my first bite, the tender, soft interior of the Ciabatta was a pleasant surprise. In fact, it complemented the thick savory Turkey, arugula, chutney and mayo! It was one of the best Turkey sandwiches I've had. Now, if that wasn't enough, don't forget, I ordered the Hash Brown Potatoes. It said Hash Browns on the blackboard, see attached picture, but these 'weren't your Mama's hash browns'! They are described online as Latka'd Hash Browns. They are thick crispy squares that combine a potato pancake latke with a hash brown texture. The interior reminded me of my mother's potato kugel, which I still reminisce about. In one word, those fried crispy potato squares were outstanding. It's 'a must try' and goes so well with the Surfer! Last, but not least, the Limeade! It was so refreshing! Not too tart, not too sweet... just right! I'll be returning to Middle Child in the not too distant future!

Turkey was tender, bread (ciabatta I think?) held together fine even though the sandwich was pretty loaded. Definitely a lean-over-the-plate kind of sandwich, got some chutney on my fingers, but that's kind of expected with a sandwich like this I guess. Also got one of the latke hash browns on the side and that thing didn't last long at all - crispy outside, soft in the middle, I finished it before I was even halfway through my sandwich. Might've been the better item honestly, don't tell the sandwich that.
