Everyone bagel with cream cheese and chives.
    Shelly J.

The long lines here are somewhat worth it if your craving bagels. The lines move fast and they are good to satisfy your bagel cravings. Though they aren't fancy like panera or other places :( The everything bagel was decent. The cream cheese portions was sufficient. However I wish my bagel was toasted longer. Now comparing this place to NYC bagel , NYC wins. However, it's a nice bagel shop with happy employees and they also have other delicious pastries that's I had no busy eating cuz I'm suppose be eating healthy lol..

Stopped by here on a Monday morning and it was busy but the line went by fast. There were so many options to choose from but I opted for a raisin bagel. The bagel was packed with cream cheese, which made it more tasty. However, the bagel was a bit dense and not as light and chewy as I hoped for. Overall its a great place for a quick bite.

Located at Reading Terminal. Service is quick, tons of fresh pastries, bagel breakfast sandwiches. They pack each bagel sandwich with tons of ingredients, whether it's eggs, bacon, lox. Everything we ate was very delicious

I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese for $4.95. It was okay and service was quick. However, it is cheaper at Hershel's East side $3.24 if you order before 11 am.

Got the caprese panini for lunch - perfect blend of pesto, mozzarella, tomatoes, and delicious bread - a great sandwich for a great price!

Quick service. Fresh ingredients made for a very tasty lox and cream cheese bagel. Their offerings include a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwich options and breads (baguettes, raisin loafs etc) as well as coffee and I believe other drinks.

Market Bakery is one of the many food stalls in Reading Terminal Market that offers a variety of bagels, sandwiches, and other breads. The atmosphere there was kind of a grab and go type of deal, as it feels like with most of the food stalls in the market. There is no seating available, but there are a bunch of tables and chairs in the market. The service was also pretty quick and the workers were very friendly. There are also a lot of options for the types of sandwiches that they have, including all day breakfast sandwiches. I got the Early Bird, which consists of eggs, bacon, roasted peppers, cheese, and pesto. I got it with an everything bagel, which made it super yummy! I felt like everything paired well with one another and it came out hot and fresh. I feel like it is hard to mess up breakfast sandwiches, so I do not have any complaints or critiques about my order.

Went at 4pm on a Sunday in March, no line, very quick service. Good sandwich, very creamy.

The bagels and bread here are amazing. Everything bagel with cream cheese absolutely perfect in every way. Yeah it's hard to mess it up, but this is a quality bagel and cheese. Good ingredients, okay price, fast service. Was exactly what I needed, tasty, hit the spot. I'm going to keep 'em at 5 star cause theyre that good, but the scones were a little bit of a let down. Everything else I've had is wonderful though. Danish is perfect as well. Overall great spot in RTM.

Interesting local bread and pasty place located in Reading Terminal Market. I highly suggest them for a breakfast sandwich. I got the OMG BLT and it was OMG big. I picked the brioche bun which was hella fresh bread. I really like the use of pesto and mozzarella in the sandwich (added a sort of twist). The sandwich was a decent size and the service was very quick. The only problem with it being in Reading Terminal is spots to eat at fill quickly especially with multiple people.

Egg and Cheese on a brioche bun

Really enjoyed getting an egg and cheese on a brioche bun at Market Bakery. There's about half a million food options in Reading Terminal Market so it can be difficult to decide where to eat but if you're looking for a solid sandwich Market Bakery is great. What I liked was the several sandwich options and the options of breads and bagels. While Reading Terminal was super busy the service here was both friendly and quick. They gave you a generous amount of eggs and cheese and the bun was perfectly toasted and fresh. Definitely recommend!

Everything bagel with cream cheese to start my day! Very generous on the cream cheese- it was delicious!

Just a few of the many sandwiches offered.
    Shannon K.

Where to begin?? Even though they were extremely busy, the line moved very quickly. The people working there are very friendly and efficient. They have a big selection to choose from. I decided on the sandwich the firebird. The young lady said it was a new option there. It is made with pork roll, egg and cheese, chipotle mayo and hot sauce. They have many bread or bagels to decide from. You can never go wrong with the everything bagel. I got a few pastry for later on that day. The muffins and Danish are too good to decide which one is better.

Ok, onto the eats! 1. Della Casa ($18): A 12-inch soft seeded sando layered with a schmear of balsamic sundried pepper spread, fresh mozz, and hot cappicola dried with Calabrian chili oil and filled with fresh arugula and house roasted eggplant slices. This was good, however, the eggplant felt kind out of place. The slices were large and a little bit too mushy for my liking and it felt like it could have benefitted from an extra meat or contrast to the softness from the mozz, such as fried eggplant instead. All in all a 7 out of 10. Good but wouldn't order again. 2. Turkey Salumeria ($18.50): Another (delicious) 12-inch soft seeded roll saturated with a delicious house creamy balsamic dressing (could have honestly drank this) + mild prov, LTO, sliced turkey and really great cherry pepper relish. This was a pretty basic, but all the parts came together to make a solid sandwich. I wouldn't necessarily order again but the combination of ingredients and the hellish relish made it a 7.5 out of 10. All in all, the quality of the ingredients, the combinations available on the menu and the stellar staff all make LK popular for good reason. While the selections we had this go around didn't wow us (just lacking a certain je ne sais quoi) I do look forward to going back to try the kale chx caesar, some of their cutlet sandos, roast beef and pork and of course the tomato pie and CCC's!

On a recent trip to the Philadelphia area, I visited Angelo's Pizzeria. My fiance is a big fan of…read morethe pizza, and wanted to first try it after hearing Dave Portnoy's rave review from One Bite. Since his first time trying it, we make it a point to stop anytime we are passing through the area. Angelo's is a very popular pizza restaurant located in South Philly, near the corner of South 9th and Fitzwater, and also the Palumbo Playground/Rec Center. For those who are tourists, it is also not far from where Pat's and Geno's are both located. Parking here can be challenging, as it is in the middle of South Philly. Sometimes, I have had to circle around. Other times, I have gotten lucky with a street spot somewhat close by. There is a now closed Rite Aid about a block down, and I have parked in that lot before to go and order/pick up my food. If you have someone with you, it might be easier to drop someone off and circle around until they are done. It will depend on the day and time, but each time I have visited parking has been a little bit of a struggle. The signage, as well as the crowd outside, will let you know exactly where the shop is. It is clearly marked with a black awning. The Pizzeria is a quaint shop, and there is no seating. When you enter, you walk right up to the counter to either order or pick up your food. I visited here on a Saturday in September, when I was in the area for a football game. On this day, I was coming in from Chester. So, I was about 30 minutes away. I thought I would attempt to call ahead, and then hopefully my food would be ready around my arrival. Unfortunately, this did not work out. I am not sure if they just do not answer the phone, or if they will stop answering once they hit a certain threshold of orders. However, I tried calling a plethora of times on my way to the store, but no one ever answered the phone. I understand this and am not necessarily complaining, but I wanted to include this here in case someone else is trying to call in an order and cannot get through. I arrived at the store just before 4:00 PM. I went right in and placed my order with one of the employees. Once you place the order, they take your name and phone number. You will get a text message when the order is done, and they provide an estimated wait time at the counter. This is nice, as you know exactly when to head back and when your order is ready. My order only took about 20 minutes to be prepared. When the order is ready, you come back into the store and get in the line on the right side. They will ask for your name, and you pay at that time. I also visited here last month, on a Sunday evening around 6:00 PM. I had a similar experience with wait time for my pizza on this trip as well - about 20 minutes until it was ready from when we placed the order. After getting the pizza, I decided I wanted to try a Cheesesteak. So, I placed my order for the sandwich and only waited about 15 minutes for it to be ready. We have always enjoyed the food from here. The pizza is hot, fresh, and has just the right amount of crispiness. We have gotten the Pepperoni and Sausage each time, and it does not disappoint. The pizza also reheats well, as we typically eat some and then take the rest home to enjoy over the next few days. The Cheesesteak was amazing. It is definitely better than any of the other tourist-type locations in the area. The bread was toasted well, and the mixture of the meat and cheese just tastes divine. I also added onions to mine, which was a nice variety in terms of texture. I will definitely be ordering this, along with my pizza, on all of my return visits. This place is good quality, and for that reason it is a good value. Our pizza is usually in the $35 range, but as stated it is well-prepared and has a nice amount of toppings. The Cheesesteak was slightly less than $20, which is comparable to other spots in the area. However, the quality on this one is through the roof. So, though it is a little pricey here overall, it is worth it for the product. The staff here are very friendly, quick, and efficient. Though they deal with these large crowds seemingly everyday, they are always pleasant to interact with. My waits for food are always less than they say, and I appreciate their hard work! I would love to see some type of online or phone ordering system for this location, as I know it exists for their other spot about 10 minutes away. As an FYI, they used to be cash-only, but started taking cards sometime in the past few months. This is a must-try spot in South Philly, both for locals and visitors. It is so popular that they are opening another location, as of May 2026. The food is worth the wait, and the sometimes hassle, that comes with ordering here. You can even make some friends while you wait for your order. I highly recommend Angelo's to anyone thinking about giving it a try! I am already looking forward to my next trip here and trying more of their menu.

Being that I'm not from the east coast, and these are known as Philly cheesesteaks, I was super excited to try the food and even more so when I saw that the restaurant was Michelin rated. 100% I would rather have hunger pains than eat another meal here. The meat was bland and mushy. The fried onions were undercarmelized. The peppers were non existent. The sesame bread was tougher than I expected and super heavy on the sesame... which could've been ok, but because of the blandness of the protein... really dominated the taste profile of the hoagie. I feel like west coast people just have different expectations when it comes to what we expect from our food. I am a foodie and we have such a high standard as a baseline and this was not it. Sorry Philly... we got better cheesesteaks out here. You all should come visit.

I went to Middle Child a few weeks ago just after 3, only to find it closes at 3. Today I returned, around 1, and there was a good crowd there having lunch. I ordered the Surfer, and the Hash Brown Potatoes. The Surfer is Middle Child's most popular sandwich. It's made on a Ciabatta bun, and has a thick layering of tender, lean, House Turkey breast, with melty Swiss cheese, arugula, blueberry chutney, and Duke's mayo. It's hard to describe just how delicious this sandwich was. My biggest concern was the Ciabatta bun - it's not one of my favorites, as I've found them to be tough and difficult to bite through. My fears were quickly put to rest after the first bite! The bun had a slightly crispy exterior - and when I followed through with my first bite, the tender, soft interior of the Ciabatta was a pleasant surprise. In fact, it complemented the thick savory Turkey, arugula, chutney and mayo! It was one of the best Turkey sandwiches I've had. Now, if that wasn't enough, don't forget, I ordered the Hash Brown Potatoes. It said Hash Browns on the blackboard, see attached picture, but these 'weren't your Mama's hash browns'! They are described online as Latka'd Hash Browns. They are thick crispy squares that combine a potato pancake latke with a hash brown texture. The interior reminded me of my mother's potato kugel, which I still reminisce about. In one word, those fried crispy potato squares were outstanding. It's 'a must try' and goes so well with the Surfer! Last, but not least, the Limeade! It was so refreshing! Not too tart, not too sweet... just right! I'll be returning to Middle Child in the not too distant future!

The ribeye was thin cut, delicious and the portion was pretty hefty. Second visit I went with - The Nad - $15 Chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, Mike's Hot Honey that came on an unseeded Liscio's roll. The portion size was good, chicken was fresh with good breading, the hot honey was a tad on the heavy side, but the flavors all came together pretty good on this one. Sweet, salty, light bitterness from the arugula and some heat from the hot honey. I added Thin Cut Idaho fries to make it a combo for $3 extra and I have to say they were delicious. They smelled like McD's and tasted similar. They are cash only, but have an ATM on site. You can use a card if you order online. The one bathroom they have was pretty clean and organized.
