However I do this because I enjoy the speed of service and the sandwich combinations. They also let you customize as needed. Good experience at Market Bakery located in the Reading Market. I got a turkey sausage, egg & cheese on whole grain bagel. The service was extremely friendly at the register. Everything is take out, but there are tables located throughout the building. My sandwich was huge! Taste was pretty good and was more than I could even eat. Market offers a lot of variety in their menu, especially breads. I think there is something for everyone to find from the menu. The staff keeps extremely busy and are hard working. When I jumped in line it was long and they worked quick. Total line time was 10 minutes tops. I would recommend. read more

The long lines here are somewhat worth it if your craving bagels. The lines move fast and they are good to satisfy your bagel cravings. Though they aren't fancy like panera or other places :( The everything bagel was decent. The cream cheese portions was sufficient. However I wish my bagel was toasted longer. Now comparing this place to NYC bagel , NYC wins. Stopped by here on a Monday morning and it was busy but the line went by fast. There were so many options to choose from but I opted for a raisin bagel. The bagel was packed with cream cheese, which made it more tasty. However, the bagel was a bit dense and not as light and chewy as I hoped for. Overall its a great place for a quick bite. read more

Market Bakery is one of the many food stalls in Reading Terminal Market that offers a variety of bagels, sandwiches, and other breads. The atmosphere there was kind of a grab and go type of deal, as it feels like with most of the food stalls in the market. There is no seating available, but there are a bunch of tables and chairs in the market. The service was also pretty quick and the workers were very friendly. There are also a lot of options for the types of sandwiches that they have, including all day breakfast sandwiches. I got the Early Bird, which consists of eggs, bacon, roasted peppers, cheese, and pesto. I got it with an everything bagel, which made it super yummy! I felt like everything paired well with one another and it came out hot and fresh. The bagels and bread here are amazing. Everything bagel with cream cheese absolutely perfect in every way. Yeah it's hard to mess it up, but this is a quality bagel and cheese. Good ingredients, okay price, fast service. Was exactly what I needed, tasty, hit the spot. I'm going to keep 'em at 5 star cause theyre that good, but the scones were a little bit of a let down. Interesting local bread and pasty place located in Reading Terminal Market. I highly suggest them for a breakfast sandwich. I got the OMG BLT and it was OMG big. I picked the brioche bun which was hella fresh bread. I really like the use of pesto and mozzarella in the sandwich (added a sort of twist). The sandwich was a decent size and the service was very quick. The only problem with it being in Reading Terminal is spots to eat at fill quickly especially with multiple people. read more

Really enjoyed getting an egg and cheese on a brioche bun at Market Bakery. There's about half a million food options in Reading Terminal Market so it can be difficult to decide where to eat but if you're looking for a solid sandwich Market Bakery is great. What I liked was the several sandwich options and the options of breads and bagels. While Reading Terminal was super busy the service here was both friendly and quick. They gave you a generous amount of eggs and cheese and the bun was perfectly toasted and fresh. Definitely recommend! read more

Where to begin?? Even though they were extremely busy, the line moved very quickly. The people working there are very friendly and efficient. They have a big selection to choose from. I decided on the sandwich the firebird. The young lady said it was a new option there. It is made with pork roll, egg and cheese, chipotle mayo and hot sauce. They have many bread or bagels to decide from. You can never go wrong with the everything bagel. I got a few pastry for later on that day. I recently went to Market Bakery and ordered the #1 a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. This sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. I was impressed by the amount of choice offered while selecting my sandwich. It was my choice of bread or bagel. I could even select the cheese I had with it! And to top it off, they had REAL display sandwiches made that day to show the sandwiches offered. --- I made the right choice by getting a bacon, egg and cheese. It was a 10/10! There's a lot of food offered at Reading Terminal Market but Market Bakery is now my go to spot for my bacon, egg and cheese. Not great, barely passable. Honestly not any better than food on Amtrak or a plane. The toasted bagel is soft like it came out of the microwave, not crunchy like it came from a toaster. The egg and cheese sandwich is greasy and barely passable after the premixed egg mixture is cooked on a flat top grill plate with grease and you can have your eggs and cheese any way you want as long as it is flat cooked eggs like an omelet minus anything in the omelet and with any cheese as long as it's the cheddar. Egg mixture (likely from a container like most fast food places and restaurants use) is nothing special. The coffee is just warm, straight from the carafe, not hot, but good otherwise. No decaf option. I also tried the bagel and cream cheese. Same blah result. The toasted bagel was limp like it never saw a toaster in its life. It was rubbery and very disappointing. The choices of cream cheese for bagels is very limited. No onion, salmon spread, just a plain, fat free plain, veggie,garlic and herb and one or two others not appealing to me. To have a salmon spread like, you need to shell out $9 for lox and plain cream cheese, that's nuts. I am not plain in anything I do, so tried the garlic herb "cream cheese." It was actually a thin spread,not a real cream cheese thickness. I finished just half, as the bagel was so rubbery and disappointing as was the "cream cheese." A friend had the lox and "cream cheese" bagel and was also very disappointed. Being from NYC, I know pizza and bagels well. These bagels and "cream cheese," is not even Dunkin Donuts quality, but close to the crummy quality of not real bakery places. This is just another kiosk/stand in the Reading Market ready to take your tourist money in exchange for a fair, but sub par quality product. read more

The roll was toasted and burnt (see pic) and the eggs were microwaved (ew). It was so horrible that I only could stand taking 2 bites before tossing. I got hubby an apple danish which he enjoyed. He said it was fresh and the apples were tasty. Customer service was lacking. After I ordered I was told "wait for it over there". I will not be back. read more

For my egg and cheese on a bagel, they folded the cheese into the scrambled egg while it was cooking so it was nice and melted but not too messy when I got it. The bagel was okay. The sandwich had egg, roasted tomatos, cheese, and bacon. Make sure you check in 1st because on Yelp you will receive a free small coffee; I forgot to - don't be like me. AAAAAMAZING. I had the best breakfast sandwich here. It was very close to Reading Terminal. The food in the convention center was AWFUL so I was very happy this market and bakery was so close to get some goods eats to keep me from falling asleep. Those pumpkin rolls were definitely my favorite and have me wanting to come back for an entire pumpkin seed loaf! Perfectly crisp on the exterior and soft inside. Hearty and a tad sweet. Oh. So. I got a sausage egg and cheese bagel (everything) from Market Bakery for breakfast. Overall the best part of the meal was the bagel as it was soft and the perfect amount of chewy. They are conveniently located in the reading terminal market and definitely have a line in the mornings. Only complaint was that I could not pick what kind of cheese for my sandwich. They do not have many varieties and I wanted pepper jack, but that's ok! The sandwich was still very good. I also got a small coffee which was part of their promo going on with Yelp.com. This place was quite good! They had a nice selection of pastries and bagels, which is a good breakfast option for when you're at the Reading Terminal Market. I went with the everything bagel with the herb and garlic cream cheese. The bagel was actually from Le Bus Bakery and was quite good! It was chewy and tasted very fresh! As I sit here at home going though my bookmarks on Yelp and writing reviews, I'll admit, I'll be damned if I remember what kind of bagel I got here (it was a month and a half ago, ok) but the cheddar horseradish cream cheese that was on it was absolutely friggin DIVINE, and that is what I remember ;) Definitely recommended if you're wandering around Reading Terminal Market in the morning before non-breakfast time foods are acceptable. read more

Yes, I could tell you that. But I want to speak to something deeper. I want to speak to belonging and community; and to fairness. As a biracial person with a brown sister, I feel the pull to support black and brown businesses. It's not a secret. And sometimes you do it, and sometimes you privately think "Damn. I wanna be supportive but this place is a mess." Then there's Sweet Life. NOT that. FILLED with good product at a great price, delivered by owners and staff who actually give a damn about being loving and supportive to all different types of people. And did I mention the sweets are POPPIN'? And to that statement of fairness. Today I came in to place an order, and when the price came up, for a moment I thought "Damn. That is a lot higher than I remembered, but I am not about to question them. They set the price and that price is what they deserve." So I paid. But then I noticed there was more in my bag that I'd asked for, and that there had been a miscommunication. When I tell you that this miscommunication was corrected with swiftness *AND* a smile. No shade. No drama. Just an "Ooops, oh well, here's your refund on the balance." I know this seems very basic but we all know it isn't. We have all been in that awkward situation where as a customer we have to point out an error, and the vendor turns it into a Shakespearan tragedy. Not Sweet Life. "Oops. Sorry! Fixed. Love you." So, to recap: Stunningly delicious sweets. Prices fair as hell. Communicative, inclusive staff doing the right thing. You need to take those money dollers and haul your ass over here TODAY. It was my favorite delight. I got my wife the pineapple upside down cake. She loved it! Sweet, slightly gooey and perfectly portioned. The people there are great. That make you feel like you're picking a wedding ring. Giving personal recommendations and the extra sophistication you wouldn't expect at a cupcake place on south street. They have it all and i will go back for more and i highly recommend them, especially the no-nana pudding (not pictured).

Krispy Kreme remains as always the GOAT of all donut shops, but I do like trying new spots. Certainly worth stopping by if you're craving a donut.

The pandan cake and egg tart were perfectly not-too-sweet, which is why I personally tend to gravitate towards Asian baked goods. It's a smaller but very cozy and homey interior with two tables for sitting down to enjoy your coffee and pastries. It's also cash only or Venmo, so keep that in mind if you never carry cash! I look forward to visiting again and trying more items!

It has a buttery coating, and I love it warmed up with a cup of tea or straight out of the packaging. I also love their cream buns (like a huge bun, sliced down the middle and filled to the brim with light fluffy cream). They also serve moon cakes and other things, but I'm a creature of habit and usually get the same braided bread situation I just gushed about. My sons usually get a slice of cake. The service is quick and friendly. There are usually two women who bag your order and take your cash or card.

A three layered pastry fluffy with silky cream between each layer with a beautiful fondant icing which they called Mille - feuille. No it is not an Italian version it is French through and through. While as a French bakery you can make those cutesy heart pastry puffs please do not insult the french baker by calling it a napoleon. I unfortunately made the very foolish mistake of ordering this heart puff napoleon over the phone- thinking I would be getting , yes, you guessed it a napoleon.

We got the Dankaroo soft serve (vanilla and cinnamon swirl dunked in cookies and cream coating). The coating was very sweet, but the soft serve itself was not too sweet and a very nice texture. The texture was a bit more icy than traditional soft serve (which I prefer). The shop is very casual and does not offer any seating that I saw. Maybe they offer seating at an earlier hour, but not when we went.

There's tons of seating, BUT it tends to all get taken up quite quickly. Sometimes there's some unhoused around the building, including in the bathrooms despite needing a code to get in, but it's not too much of a detraction of it being a good working and gathering space.
