We were at Reading Terminal Market and happened upon Metropolitan Bakery. Nice selection of Breads and Cookies. I enjoyed the Oat Honey bread the next morning- delicious, the pleasant slight sweetness of the honey came through. The honey flavors enhanced the black coffee I had with the bread. We had the Chocolate Chip Cookies with Walnuts and a Chocolate Chip Cookie with Cherries. We bought it home an enjoyed it 2 days later. Both cookies held their own after the transport. I liked the slight bitterness of the Walnuts and the slight tartness of the Cherries contrasted well with the richness and sweetness of the Chocolate. Service at the Reading Terminal Market was fast, friendly and efficient.

Really good brioche and other breads. The creme fraiche and chocolate cakes are delicious as well. Some of the other smaller items I have tried at Metropolitan (like miniture pies and cookies) suffer from the "look bettter than they taste" affliction. But the bread is solid and the cakes are good. As an aside, Metropilitan also has a whole line of doggy treats for sale. These do not look all that appetizing, however, and I have no clue how they taste.

Just spent $1.10 for a rosemary and olive oil roll that was the size of a Hostess DingDong! Cut it open to make sandwich and the inside was not baked all the way through. Also, it was very, very hard and dry. Ended up giving it to the dog! I would think that for a business with an excellent reputation, they would be more careful with their products. In the past, I have only purchased sweet goods here and they have always been wonderful.

    Almond pastry. All almonds.

We lucked into the first day of the seasonal chocolate chip pumpkin pound cake which our daughters loved. Took one home for ourselves.

I got the egg tart on recommendation as well as a cheese pastry, pandan cake and red bean moon cake and everything was delicious! The cheese pastry had the softest exterior with a warm cheese filling that was savory but light at the same time. The moon cake was very rich and perfect for sharing! The pandan cake and egg tart were perfectly not-too-sweet, which is why I personally tend to gravitate towards Asian baked goods. It's a smaller but very cozy and homey interior with two tables for sitting down to enjoy your coffee and pastries. It's also cash only or Venmo, so keep that in mind if you never carry cash! I look forward to visiting again and trying more items!

But, since we were staying close to Philly's Chinatown, I figured I could stop in and get some goodies. I came very late in the day, so a lot of the breads I would've wanted were sold out. The cake- it was a few hours before we actually ate it but when I put the first forkful in my mouth, I could hear angels singing. It was so moist, literally melting in my mouth. The strawberries were sweet and the whipped topping was simply the best. Needless to say, I could have eaten my slice and my husband's. I am now on the hunt to find a location near where I live.

Dubai chocolate is super popular right now so I grabbed a Dubai chocolate mochi donut and a pistachio mochi donut for later. In my opinion, the Dubai chocolate donut was way better. It tasted just like the chocolate bar. Pistachio could've used a little more flavor. I tasted this one when I got home and it held up in 95 degree heat. Both were very soft and chewy. The employees at Paris Baguette are super helpful and nice, while also being efficient. Three people at the registers helped the line move quickly. While I love Paris Baguette, it isn't a coffee shop/bakery I would visit everyday because the prices are a little higher than average. For that once in a while craving, though, it's the perfect place to drop in and try a variety of items.

The tea itself was hot and tasty. Tried the tropical oolong. A nice pot to share, and you are given a small sugar bowl as well if needed. Good flavor and stayed hot with the burner stand. Cup, saucer, and spoon all showing signs of heavy wear. The food and service was not as nice and far more average than expected. Was deciding between salmon or turkey sandwich, ended up ordering the salmon. However, the Turkey club sandwich was what I got and unfortunately nobody came back to check on us either way. It was still okay not a huge issue, though the sandwich itself was a bit of a letdown. Average quality bread and lunch meat, and the salad was browning. Felt like it's a bit downhill than expected.

They did a good job of bringing all the teas in a timely fashion. We tried the Rose Lover tea, Matcha Green Tea, and the Prince Passion Fruit Tea. I started by really liking the rose lover tea. It was a milky tea that had a rosy taste to it. After a while; however, I felt like it was too sweet. For our main apps we had twister fries which were pretty basic. We also had the fried shrimp lollipops which were very tasty. The place offered us a collection of tea sandwiches and scones and macarons. Overall, my guests didn't leave hungry. We also ordered a mango Mille crepe cake. It was cutely decorated. They put pieces of mango on top of it. The cake was a bit too sweet for my liking, however.
