Philadelphia sports memorabilia and paraphernalia galore! Good thing my boyfriend is an Eagles fan. Anyhow, I've been here a couple of times and I am definitely a fan of their sandwiches. They are, however, heart stopping. It's one of those sandwiches where as you eat it you can imagine your arteries clogging with all of that ooegy gooey cheese that's just so good. I've had the chicken pizza, philly's best, chicken and mushroom, and one that I forgot the name of but it involved beef and pepperoni. All of the sandwiches have been fantastic! I've yet to try one that I didn't like. The flavors, the cheese, the peppers and mushrooms and grease...they all go together so well. I love the sandwiches here and whenever I'm looking for a soft ooey gooey sandwich, this is my place to go to. Their fries are good. I wasn't a fan of the onion rings. I think they may be beer battered and they actually kind of have a beer taste to them, which I'm not keen on. I also tried the pizza fries, wasn't too impressed with those either. Props for creativity on that one though. A combo will usually cost you roughly a little over 10 dollars but if you go on the 5s of the month (5th, 15th, 25th), a sandwich would only cost you 5 dollars. This place actually really surprised me. The boyfriend were out on a "hunger game" and couldn't figure out what to eat. I was getting ansy and Philly's best had enough stars for me to say yes without reading any of the reviews. I'm glad I did. The staff is very pleasant, which is really refreshing from the usual monotone, don't-give-a-damn type attitude from the usual "fast food" joints. I got the Cheese Steak Hoagie and the boyfriend got the Mushroom Steak with Cheese. This sandwich REALLY hit the spot that I was craving for. Meat was moist and bread wasn't too dry. Ingredients tasted fresh. Thinking about the sandwich again, I'm beginning to crave it. It's hard to describe the flavor but let's just saw it was awesome. And not too mention, the sandwich is BIG. I was expecting a 6-inch sandwich and ended up with a footlong. I definitely got my bang for my buck. They have TVs so we watched part of the game while enjoying our sandwiches. They also offer beer. Our family came to eat here after a busy Sunday and spent 40.00 when we didn't have too. They advertised a special in the window they didn't make us aware of and took our money. Frankie was really nice. After realizing that we didn't get the special, I asked for a cup as a courtesy for not getting the special. Jenna was very rude and told me that she doesn't tell the customers about the special. I advised her of the money spent and she shut me down and was basically "oh well" your loss. The BEST Philly cheesesteaks I've ever had! A hidden gem! Get this; they were so good I went there twice in one day. I went out to San Dimas for a meeting-was recommended this place by a colleague-went there for lunch and went there to grab dinner on the way home. Crazy good. The meat seasoning, cheesy goodness with the combination of peppers and onions with the meat caramelization, it's just the perfect bite. You won't be disappointed. Customer service was great! My large order came out exactly as I had ordered it, the cashier was very pleasant, and the Cooks behind the counter were friendly as well! I ordered a burger and fries & was pleased with the burger, very large & average in taste, however, the fries were just awful. They tasted kind of stale and lacked any flavor; no amount of salt could have fixed that. They were like cold McDonald's fries but warm (if that makes sense). Should I start with the good news or the bad news? Okay, bad news first: Both times I have been to this Philly's Best, I have arrived at what would be peak dinner time, around 7pm, and both times, even though they close at 9pm, they had already put almost all the chairs upside down on top of the tables, like they were getting ready to close. So we didn't get to choose where to sit, because there was only one option available to us. Then, while we were eating our meal at 7:15pm, the girl working was straight up mopping the floors around us. Nothing sends the message, "We don't want you here" like the whole place closing down around you two hours before actual closing time. It is such a turn off. We ate as fast as possible to get out of her hair so she could close up like she's clearly eager to do. Nevermind people who want to eat there, I guess. The good news? This place makes a dang good Philly Cheese steak. If there was a place with better service nearby, I'd go there instead, but there kind of isn't. When I'm in the mood for a good sandwich loaded up with steak and cheese whiz, their stuff hits the spot. Maybe next time I'll just take it to go, so I can have my steak and eat it, too. read more

Okay, so I was hungry, but didn't want to eat anything too heavy because I was going to be eating an early dinner before heading off to a show in the city. I was running errands and decided to stop here at Philly's Best for a sandwich before heading off to Target. I walk in and immediately get the feeling that this place is more than just a sandwich shop. It's more than just a place to get yourself a philly cheesesteak. This is a place to come on Sundays to watch NFL football. That's right football fans. You can watch up to three different games at one time. Not sure what other sporting events they air, but it's a good chance a game will be playing when you walk in. I opted for a ham hoagie ($5.69). It came loaded with ham, cheese, lettuce, onions, mustard, mayo, hot pepper spread, oil, and other yummy condiments. It was so big that I asked the guy behind the counter if I could get half of it wrapped to take home because I would be so stuffed if I ate the whole thing. This was one good sub. I was really excited to try this place out for a while and j finally got my hand on a sandwich and some fries. The sandwich looked beautiful but when I ate it all I could really taste was cheese no chicken and not mushrooms. It felt like I was eating a expensive grilled cheese sandwich. Plus the mushrooms that were in the sandwich were canned which explains the lack of flavor. There fries I was very disappointed when I got my order of 3.25 fries (they where pizza fries) the amount I got for 3.25 was sad I could get more for a $1 at any other place. I have been coming to Philly's Best consistently for over 6 years now, and I have never had a bad experience. The food is always absolutely delicious, the store in clean, and the servers are nice. They also have a lot of fun deals ($5 on 5, kids eat free, etc). The other day, I donated blood at a Red Cross truck outside and was given a free cheesesteak for showing my bandage! They really are a generous store, and the tastiest, most indulgent food around. I got the mushroom cheesesteak with onions and it was delicious! The steak is really tender and freshly prepared. The sandwich itself was delicious. They use the perfect amount of cheese, load it up with mushrooms, and the onions are grilled to perfection. The only thing I didn't like was my bread was kind of cold. I could eat one every day, but that probably wouldn't be smart- but it is a wonderful lunch or even dinner. Anyone who thinks a "steak sandwich" is a slab of steak on a couple of pieces of bread is sorely mistaken: think thin sliced tender sandwich steak, on a roll with melted cheese (I also add mushrooms, and many people get grilled onions) and now you are talking a good sandwich. There was 2-3 other tables with people. Food: I was super hungry so anything at this point would have tasted delicious. I like the non sweeten ice tea from soda machine. I had like 5 cups. I liked the pickled jalapenos. I like the classic cheese wiz w/ onions better than the provolone w/ mushrooms+onions. Pretty standard. No frills. Bread + beef + cheese. Service: Good and fast. Not much interaction. We walked up to order, they made our sandwiches, and we picked them up. Overall: I like this place.
