Recently had the chance to try this place and I can see why they're so highly rated on yelp. I didn't expet their menu to be small, but that was better for a person like me who gets overwhelmed by too many options. Wow, these cheesesteak sandwiches are the best I've had. It's all you can ever ask for, simple but great flavor and packed with meat. I get the steak west coast cheese steak with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers and provolone. The meat is tender and juicy with savory goodness. The large is a perfect size to eat half and save the other half for later. The bread they use is amazing, it's both soft but has a good bite to it. It was quite expensive to order one sandwich and cheese tots and a drink. The total for my meal was almost $28. $10 of that was the cheesy tots, which is ridiculous. But I ordered them. Service was OK. When I walked in there was one guy standing near the counter. He looked at me and turned around and walked away, didn't say anything. And then a young lady came up and asked if I was ready to order. I told her it was my first time here and I was excited to try it, and there was really no emotion from her. Huge red flag with this place. While I was ordering I noticed that the cook had place ground chicken on the flat top. As I watched him I noticed that he was using the same spatulas for the raw chicken as he was for the steak. I made a comment to the heavy set woman at the register about cross contamination and I was met with a blank stare. I realized that it was not registering with her the potential risk for salmonella. I told the cook about it and his comment was that he did clean the spatulas when switching meats by demonstrating scraping the 2 spatulas together. I proceeded to tell him that was not cleaning them and that there was a risk of contamination. After a bit of back and forth he finally agreed to use different spatulas together cook my steak sandwich. What I find most troubling is the fact that the woman and the cook were angry at me and the look of complete disdain on their faces when a customer commented on their failure to abide by health codes. The woman's comment to me was that they have been doing this for 5 years and they know what they are doing. Still did not register with her that their practices could actually kill someone. When I saw Yelp's top 100 places to eat 2025 I had to try this place! I've had cheese steaks all over the country, including Geno's and Pat's in Philadelphia so I have some cheesesteak bona fides!! The Angus beef had great flavor and I liked that they mix the cheese in with the beef. Some places put in slices, which makes no sense to me. The roll was correct for this type of sandwich. Very good overall and great for Southern California. The onion rings were good, like most they needed salt, but the onions were fully cooked so they were sweet not raw at all. This is how I like them. Crinkle cut fries were good too. As far as the ambience, think Domino's Pizza if they had tables inside, about the same size. Service was good. Value is so so. WIth not a whole lot of options in the area, i ended up stopping by after a meeting to grab a sandwich. I ended up just getting the signature westcoast cheesesteak which basically has some additonal toppings like onions, peppers, and mushrooms mixed into the meat and cheese. I got there during the lunch rush and since it was my first time there I wasn't really sure how to order things. The worker there was nice enough to walk me through the different types of cheese that they have available because that was the biggest question that I had. He mentioned that the Chipotle had more of a smoky kick to it and was a little bit spicy, the poblano cheese is not your typical melted cheese. The veggies and the protein are pretty straightforward. I got mine without bell peppers and that was perfect. I waited outside for a little bit while my food was getting prepared I would definitely be back the next time I'm in town maybe try one of the different cheeses. This most recent trip I got the chipotle and it was really good. And I really like that kick that it had. The bread had a great consistency where there was a lot of chew but yet and also was able to absorb the juices from the meat, cheese, and veggies and it was a great way to tie everything together. I still can't get used to paying $30 for a sandwich and a side (no drink!). Unfortunately, the sandwich was very disappointing. In those posts, recommendations are typically located in LA proper, but there are always a few comments nominating West Coast Cheesesteaks. It doesn't hurt that the restaurant was named #18 on Yelp's Top 100 US Restaurants for 2025 [1]. West Coast Cheesesteaks has been on my to-try list for a while since I've never had a cheesesteak before and wanted to experience the popular Philly sandwich. Plus, the location is super close to me, so I finally decided to visit for a late lunch. Located in the Lone Hill Shopping Center, the restaurant has a small dining area inside, around 5 tables that seat two. There is also a decent amount of outdoor seating. When I visited, nobody was eating in, so I could sit wherever I wanted; it seems most people order to-go. The ambiance was casual with '70s or '80s music playing overhead. Refreshment options include a soda dispenser, Orange Bang and other flavors, and even an Icee machine behind the counter. 【Food】 Menu: https://westcoastcheesesteaks.com/menu/ West Coast Cheesesteaks offers various vegetable add-on options and multiple cheese selections. During the cheesesteak's conception in the early 1930s, the sandwich was originally made with chopped beef and grilled onions but no cheese; nowadays, American cheese, provolone, and Cheez Whiz are popular choices [2]. Wanting my order to be close to the tried-and-true original, I got: * "The Classic", large ($15.50) "The Classic" is available in either steak or chicken along with one cheese topping and grilled onions. The menu explicitly says no substitutions allowed. There are two sizes available: small (6-7 inches) and large (11-12 inches). I was feeling super hungry, so I opted for a large with steak, cheddar cheese sauce, and grilled onions. The made-to-order sandwich was fresh and warm. The chewy bread was great, contrasting with the tender steak and ooey-gooey cheese that was slathered on top. Eating was super messy, so I'm glad they had a large standing napkin dispenser near the front along with a smaller dispenser at the counter. I enjoyed my first time eating a cheesesteak, but I did think it was a bit heavy. Of course, I don't have any other experiences for comparison, but maybe I should've started off with the small size first. 【Service】 West Coast Cheesesteaks really emphasize their slogan of "Quality + Service = Excellence", which shows up on their website, their menu, and the back of staff's shirts, and it's evident. The service is superb here. The employees are super friendly and attentive. A staff member asked if I wanted a water cup after I only ordered the cheesesteak. The service was speedy, and it took ~6 minutes to receive my food after ordering. And at the end of my meal, a worker asked me how everything was. 【Parking】 The restaurant has a few parking spots right in front. Some are for pick-up only while others have a 30-minute time limit. I was really enjoying my Philly cheesesteak...where's my pic?! lol. I was so excited that I bypassed the photo of my cheesesteak altogether! I don't think I've had a Philly cheesesteak in California or in Philly or anywhere I don't think. Meat and cheese, what's there not to like? I ordered the classic just meet and cheese. Is that the best way to have it? I may have wanted the cheese as slices instead of mixed in to get the taste of the meat separately. American cheese all the way although I'll need to give the provolone a try. The choices of cheese was American and provolone. I did t get a chance to try any sides but tots are my favorite so have to give those a try here. Service is quick and friendly. Dining area is small and clean. There are a few seats outdoors. My first visit: I just wanted to see if they could freak it. I ordered a regular cheesesteak with onions and Chipotle cheese sauce. Everything well done. I thought the order would be SOME kinda 'slam dunk'. In a word ... ehhhhhh. The cashier was super nice and courteous, tho'. read more

Good cheesesteak! Highly recommend. The size small is a big portion for me. I was able to eat half for lunch and half for dinner.

Passed by this place on a whim while my SO was at a doctor's appointment. I love cheesesteaks, but a lot of the places inCA don't make them right. This is the best one I've had in the LA area in recent memory. I ate at the restaurant, so I'm not sure how well the sandwiches would survive the drive home (or if the 20 min drive would make them not taste as good) but it's gonna be my lunch spot when we have doctor's appointments in the area. donut Man isn't too far away if you feel really indulgent and have the room. read more

Called in my order - small classic with onions and cheddar cheese - and when I arrived 10 minutes later, the order was waiting for me and I was out the door quite quickly. The cheesesteak was good - not great. I felt the cheese overpowered everything so I didn't really taste the meat and onions. Next time I'll be trying the California version to compare.
