DAMN. Really great phillies. The gal taking our order was super friendly. We ate at one of the few tables, and it was pretty phenomenal to have a fresh hot sandwich- the bread alone! We had one large combo and one small for $16. The place looks clean, but the shopping strip it is in, looks a bit suspect, needs a good scrubbing! It's obvious the owner has done the best with what they had. The place was really busy at 3pm on a Friday, which to me says a lot. Glad to know the place is here. Stumbled upon this place via Yelp. I've had friends who are from Philly, they would describe how great a real cheese steak was. All those found in other restaurants didn't seem to match the description. Well, I think I've found the real deal. Thin slices of meat, peppers, onions, and for .30 cents more mushrooms and hot peppers. Grilled up and then the cheese placed on top before it's all scooped into the roll. The bread is imported from Philly, and it's a very important part of these sandwiches. Man this thing is a delight, hot, gooey, full of flavor. Here's a fun thing, all the sandwiches are the same price, $8.89 for a 12" and $5.49 for a 6". After this first trip, I went back and had the Old World Italian hoagie, filled with three or four kinds of meat, and cheese, veggies of your choice. Forget Subway, this is a real sandwich. I called this in, and for a little Lagniappe they threw in some onion rings. I couldn't stay away, so had the Italian Pork, which is basically a cheese steak with pork and Italian spices. Peppers and onions of course. Another fun thing is that the soda machine has some drinks that I have never heard of, including Cherry soda, Orange cream, and Birch Beer. read more

A New Favorite Burger Hoagie. One of my favorite childhood burgers is from a downtown spot called Slips. "Dressing" a cold sub bun with oil and vinegar really made the sandwich. They don't do them the same anymore, but I've found the burger hoagie at Philly's to be similar, superior, and most of all extremely crave-able. It takes a while to cook, and the meat isn't some fancy cheffy blend, but subbing some provolone makes it a favorite. The oil, vinegar, extra-thinly sliced herb covered onions are a great touch. read more

Absolutely amazing. Driving through Pensacola, this was about 5 minutes off I-10. 100% amazing. We had cheesesteaks with various levels of add ons and those of us silly enough to order a 6 inch went back for a second half. Bread is incredible, soft, and super fresh. I'm only giving it two stars because I used to go there on a regular basis for five years. I went in a few months ago and had the worst customer service experience of my life. I ordered ahead and when I arrived they said they lost my order. After telling them my name four times they said they finally found my order but it would be another 15 minutes. I waited in the car for them to bring it to me. Now mind you I had to confirm exactly what I ordered every time they asked for my name. I had a dog in the car so I couldn't exactly check it. When I got home my regular Philly cheese steak was covered in lettuce, tomato, onion, and oil and vinegar. Yes I understand this is a hoagie. I did not order a damn hoagie. I called the establishment and they did not give a crap. I don't care if I went there for 5 years and had the best meal of my life every single time. Large cheesesteak, extra meat ($$$), sharp Prov ($$$), fries and drink.... $15 out the door. The amount of meat was dry, and not what I paid the extra money for, I couldnt tell a difference from their usual slimpy steak. The sharp Prov, which I also paid extra for was non-existant. I couldnt really smell or taste it and thats damn near impossible. The cheese was laid on the roll then the over cooked-under sized EXTRA meat was laid on top. This is NOT how one makes a Cheesesteak. At least not anyone who knows what the heck they are doing. I dont get these very often, so I was excited to have a taste of home, well a Pensacola version of it. What a complete waste of money, I was so dissapointed, I may never go back. The Creighton store was great at one point, it sucks now. However, I am available to stop in and show them how to make and cook a $15 cheesesteak. read more

Oh my gosh. YUM! I got the cheesesteak with onions. This was one of the BEST cheesesteaks I've had outside of Philly. The guys working in the open kitchen just look like they know what they're doing. I'm a Jersey girl from right outside of Philly. I have had many of hoagies, pizza, and cheesesteaks. I'd have to say their's fell short on what a REAL phillysteak should be. The cheesesteaks were so chintzy I was embarrassed because I brought a co worker along to try them out. I will more than likely not go back again. I would sadly say one could probably go to Lenny's or even Jersey Mikes and get just as good a cheesesteak. I'll stick to making my own or having one whenever I go back home to visit.
