Fifteen years ago their bread was thicker like a real Philly Cheesesteak. Now, it is half the size. The bread is skinny (emaciated). The roll needs to fat and thick! I don't know what happened to this place, but it is not the same anymore. They need to step up their game because Wawa from Philadelphia is now in town and building more location and they serve theirs with real hoagie roll and cheese wiz. I use to go here once a week. I ordered takeout at the Pace location. The pizza cheesesteak was awesome! I would probably say one of the best I've ever had. I ordered during the lunchtime rush, so the (small), place was really busy. I ordered a combo, but I did not realize until I got home, they did not give me a cup to get a drink. It was my first time there so I was unfamiliar with their process. At the counter they just said it will be ready in a few. When it was done they said my name, handed me a bag and that was it. While the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is what they tout, have you tried Birch Beer? I stumbled upon it as an option in their soda machine. It is like an herb-y Root Beer and is super refreshing! Specifically, they dispense the Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer. This restaurant is located near U.S. 90/ State Road 10, exit off 5th Street with the entrance at Wilkes Street. Once you turn into the lot, head to the right. It's at the corner. Three of us came here and got food to take home to eat. We got Cheesesteak Sandwiches, Onion Rings, Fries, and Mozzarella Sticks. I got the Plain Steak with Hot Peppers, Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, & Onions. It survived the trip home and was scrumptious! Next time I'd get the same thing but dressed with some Tomato & Lettuce. Other than that Birch Beer, the Cheesesteak was definitely the star! They offer various hot sandwich options like Steak, Sausage/Pork, Meatball, and Chicken. They also have cold sandwiches on their menu along with burgers. If none of those options float your boat, you can get a Veggie Hoagie. I live about 45 minutes away and was killing time at my daughter's soccer practice when I decided to find something to eat. Opened up Yelp and found Philly's. I had a cheesesteak, fries, and their Pennsylvania Dutch Root Beer. Everything was great - best cheesesteak I've had since I visited Delaware. Fries were fluffy and crispy on the outside. Just passing through the area and my brother recommend this place, saying that they have really good cheesesteaks. The menu has a number of items and they all sounded pretty good but I stuck with the cheesesteak sandwich since that is what he recommended. The cheesesteak itself was really good. So far my family had the Italian, Meatball and Pizza Steak subs and they are awesome! The Pizza Steak sub has to be my favorite (thus far) and wow just sitting here reviewing it...I WANT ONE NOW! Good subs are made with quality meats...Philly's uses Boars Head which is an outstanding base for an amazing sub! My husband and I have eaten here twice and on both occasions the cheesesteaks were delicious. The cheese was melted to perfection. The meat was piping hot. The onions and peppers were sautéed just right and if you like a little kick get the hot peppers. Finally let's talk about the bread...soft with just enough crust to keep all the juices from making the bread turn into a doughy mess that can happen if the bread isn't just right. Disappointed based on the hype. Based on Yelp and some local plugs on the place, I gave it a try. Got a couple different kinds, also based on recommendations. Philly Cheesesteak: This was not disappointing and if this was the only thing that I got, this would be 4-5 star review. Well seasoned/well cooked, and tasted like high quality meat and cheese. Meatball Parm: Really bad. I watched them nuke the meatballs before putting them on the roll, which was a giant red flag and I expected something mushy. When biting in, it was just the opposite- very firm, almost no flavor, like meatballs that have been in the fridge for a week, all dried out. Sauce was OK; cheese didn't completely melt. Really bad sandwich- Dont get it. Bread: I was told these guys fly their bread in from a bakery up north. Im not sure if that's accurate, but if so, I think its an unnecessary move. It was pretty good bread, but not worth importing good. That's immaterial to most of you, but if you've heard the bread story and are expecting 11 out of 10 bread, it's actually probably like 7 out of 10 bread. This is a tough one. We probably caught everyone on a bad day, cuz I cannot imagine a place staying open long with what we witnessed. Two of the employees were in a full-on cussing argument for more than 20 minutes. Whenever you thought it was over, someone would make a snide comment and boom, back at it. Multiple customers left before even trying to place an order, at least two customers were told, 'I'm not sure when you'd even get your food." and their order wasn't taken. It was a mess that the owner (wearing a politically charged t-shirt...bold choice) had to come in with an additional worker just to get things back on track. VERY AWKWARD, uncomfortable, and unfortunate. On a positive note, the Philly cheese steak was delicious, the fries were good and the turkey hoagie was really good.
