Utterly amazing farm/market/restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. We had dinner reservations but we got there early so we could look around. This is a very, very beautiful place with a wonderful market that we highly recommend. We walked around and saw the gardens, the flowers, and so much more. It is immaculate!!! Every dish from the tomato appetizer to the flan was expertly prepared and delicious. The view of the farm is spectacular and the market is yummy. We went for lunch and it was amazing. Super casual (order at the counter and get a # to bring to your table) but superb quality-- food and ambiance. The place is very beautiful-- rustic dining room with art, antique pottery and fresh floral arrangements. Pine cone wreaths. Wax dipped daffodil chains hanging from a beam. Great view out onto the pergola'd terrace and the pasture beyond. You have to get your cutlery from a tray but it's heavy flatware and there are cloth napkins as well as heavy paper ones. Food arrived on beautiful pottery plates and looked instagram-worthy, but the tastes! Simple preparations but sooo delicious. The red cabbage salad was studded with toasted hazelnuts and fresh tarragon, and was dressed with a subtly sweet and spicy vinaigrette. Great combination. Sorrel leaves added punch to a spinach salad with pepitas and buttermilk dressing. The goat cheese toast was creamy and decadent, topped with preserved cherry tomatoes and a very fresh salsa verde. We loved everything so much we browsed the market store and left with a bag of local goodies to elevate our meals at home. Loved the whole experience. read more

We had such an exquisite experience at Philo Ridge Farm. This place is absolutely amazing!! Not only do they have breathtaking views while you dine outside, but the service was outstanding and the food was fantastic. We started with the dinner rolls, and these are a MUST! The bread was so warm, buttery, and flaky with just the right amount of sea salt sprinkled on top. For mains, I ordered the sausage and my partner had the roasted chicken breast. My dish was super tasty, and his chicken was SO juicy and bursting with flavour! You can really taste the freshness and high quality of every ingredient. For drinks my partner got a cider, which he really enjoyed, and my cocktail was bubbly, fruity, and beautiful! (I cannot remember the name atm, apologies.) All of the waitstaff was absolutely wonderful and super friendly and helpful. They made us feel warm and welcomed. As an added bonus, we got to the farm a bit early and were able to walk around freely. We got to see the beautiful rolling hills, gardens, and adorable animals. They also have great items and merchandise in their market by the entrance. I'm so glad we got to eat here during our July visit to VT from NYC. I know their restaurant is currently on pause, but I really hope they open again come spring/summer- we will definitely be coming back!! read more

I had the most amazing dinner!! From the food to the service everything was perfection. I started with the cucumber ricotta, then head the chicken and the ice cream. I could literally come to the market here every day. The pastries (handpies!, carrot cake!, molasses cake!), the to go chicken salad, omg the ham hock SOUP. The granola!! The eggs. The meat. I've had dinner at the restaurant & the food was very good. But honestly I like the market goods better! They have a whole frozen take & bake chicken pot pie that IS the holy grail of all pot pies. I've had many a pot pie, but this one taught me what a pot pie really should be. The double crust is PUFF PASTRY - which WILL ruin you for any other pot pie crust. The filling is so packed with chicken pieces (and not in cafeteria-style uniform cubes) that the delicious gravy doesn't rush out when you remove the first slice. There are some veg pieces, but the filling is mostly gravy & chicken. This is a full sized, $30 pot pie that you will never complain about paying for once you taste it. If you get here at the right time in the morning, the pastry case will have fresh handpies. Whatever the flavor - get one! They are all fantastic. The carrot cake slices are beauties, & they are delicious - the cream cheese frosting is lightly sweet. The granola! You'll wonder if it's cereal or a healthy dessert. It's full of dried blueberries! I love it with the Maple yogurt they sell. Together, it's an amazing breakfast OR dessert. They have high quality raw chicken, bacon, chicken livers or hearts, beef heart, sausages, bone broth, and eggs, as well as an assortment of nice produce and condiments, plus some beautiful gift items. This farm to table restaurant is absolutely phenomenal! We had the tasting menu which included salad, soup, roasted chicken entree and dessert. We also had the beef carpaccio which was out of this world and rolls which were like eating delicious clouds, so light. The service was excellent, our waitress, Winnie, was very attentive and friendly. And then there was the view! We had an outside table but under a roof. Took a tour of the farm as part of farm week. It was excellent. Tad was very knowledgeable about the farm, vegetables, and animals. It was pretty short, but very informative. They seem to be an environmentally friendly farm, and pretty much passed my wife's "vegan" test. We didn't see any of the cows, but we saw pigs and chickens. They have a market where they sell all their own products. Great food choices, and some "general store" products (dry goods). Big room for eating and of course outside tables overlooking the farm. read more

We even went back today for the exact same thing (and also tried the zucchini bread) - and we normally prefer to explore and try different places when vacationing. Beautiful and delicious spot for lunch or a coffee. We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon and were in awe of the quaint market and perfect little spot for a fun lunch. All lunch options are prepackaged but you can grab one and eat in the renovated barn dining room or outside in the covered patio overlooking the fields. The chicken salad "sandwich" and roasted chicken "salad" (slightly different variations!) were scrumptious and we topped it off with some local beers. We are trying to get back there for dinner! We had lunch there today and there were positives and negatives. Sitting outside is very relaxing, beautiful scenery! But the insects, both flies and hornets were plentiful and annoying. Yes this is partly due to being outside but the table we sat at and the area where the dirty dishes are located (and there were three piles of them) was filthy, and this attracted part of the insects. Our food (heirloom tomato panini and tomato salad) were very good but the fries were overly salted. No one came to ask us how the food was and when I volunteered my comment on the fries to a staff member, she just blankly looked at us. It is also fun to walk around the grounds with kids: there are not only plenty of flowers and foods growing, but cows, sheep with a guard llama, some elusive pigs, and a pretty regular and lovable farm cat. read more

We went for an evening meal recently and were surprised by how it had changed. They did not have all the items on the menu and had "Vermont shrimp" in a dish that were no bigger than a fingernail. We were a party of 6 for dinner at 7.15pm on Thursday October 14th. We ordered the pre fixe dinner menu of $59 per head. We also ordered a bottle of wine, beer, 2 other non alcoholic drinks and an additional glass of wine. Only five of us had dessert. Yet we were overcharged for an additional glass of wine and and an additional dessert ( total overcharge of about $21, our total bill was over $600). We didn't catch this till we came back to our place. Very disappointed since this happened to us twice in one day ( lunch in Woodstock and dinner at Philo Ridge Farm). read more
