Philthy Philly's was one of them. This eatery is in Clarkson, just south of the GO station. Clarkson is growing on me as a neighbourhood. It is roughly twenty minutes away from my workplace, so it's quite a distance from my home. I drove over here after work on evening. I pulled into this plaza, which has a bunch of stores that I want to check out when I'm back. I parked and walked in. There is plenty of parking. There was one person placing an order. It was enough time for me to review the menu and figure out what I wanted to get. Philthy Philly's has recently introduced Broad Street burgers to its menu. I love a good burger, but I was craving a cheesesteak more. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Grow-Op burger, which is a veggie burger. The person helping me with my Groupon was helpful and cool. The redemption was straightforward. I ordered a regular cheesesteak. I got steak, with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, swiss cheese, and apple butter mesquite sauce. I also got a Phil-sized bacon poutine and a Diet Coke. I got my Diet Coke and waited for my order at a table. It gave me time to observe the artwork around me. My order was ready. I picked it up and thanked the guy. I was ready to chow down. I was hungry! The bacon poutine is the best at this Philthy Phil's. The bacon was crisp. The gravy was perfect, melting all the cheese curds into the perfect cheese pull with every fork helping. One word: fantastic! My cheesesteak was so good. It was my first time trying the apple butter mesquite sauce. It has so many complex layers of flavour. I loved that it was almost different with each bite. Yum! This place has a single women's washroom, which was spacious and clean. I saw two guys go into the men's, so I can't comment on that and don't want to speculate! I thanked the staff here when I left. It's my favourite Philthy Phil's so far in my cheesesteak journey within and around the GTA. (304)

I did a quick search to see if John Catucci had been to the area with either of his shows, and it turned out Philadelphia Kitchen was featured on You Gotta Eat Here. Decision made! We decided to try a couple of their cheesesteaks, one with wiz and one with mozzarella. After a wait of about 15 minutes, both sandwiches were brought to our table. My first impression was that hey, this doesn't look like a traditional cheesesteak. The wiz one especially only seemed to contain a small line of cheese whiz, which, if you've ever had an authentic cheesesteak, you know is absolutely incorrect. Anyway, even though I wouldn't call either of these sandwiches cheesesteaks in the traditional sense, they turned out to be tasty meat sandwiches regardless. The meat is cooked very well, and the fresh bread provides a nice crunch. Do I wish I'd been served an actual cheesesteak? Yes, definitely. But I did enjoy this for what it was, which is a well-made steak sandwich.

The bread was crusty & the sandwich had some kick. The BBQ sauce was good. There was a lot of meat though it was cut so finely that it approached ground beef in texture. It was hard to pick out the bacon & the cheese was uneven along the bread. Cherry peppers are the spiciest of their 3 types of hot peppers.

This is the Burlington location of the Philthy Philly's chain. We were visiting Burlington and…read morearrived at our hotel late after our flight, so there wasn't much open in the area at midnight for food. We found this place because it was one of the few restaurants that popped up in our late night Uber Eats search. The restaurant was less than 10 minutes from our hotel and still open for another hour or so. I've never been to a Philthy Philly's before this one, and this Burlington location wasn't on Yelp yet. I also didn't have time to research the place online since I was driving, so I was going in blind. I don't do this very often because it has almost always resulted in a negative outcome in the past whenever I picked a place to eat at random without research. But we were desperate and famished after the flight, so their menu full of Philly cheesesteak varieties and chicken wings sounded downright delicious. I didn't care at that point how authentic their cheesesteaks were; I just wanted to eat. The name of this chain did seem a bit sketchy to me, though (because srsly, who really wants to ingest food from a place associated with the word "filthy"--no matter how it's spelled like). So yeah, I wasn't expecting much at all. At first, we ended up ordering two small cheesesteak varieties and a few small orders of chicken wings as a reconnaissance meal of sorts to test out the food. I was pleasantly surprised with the results. All of the cheesesteaks had a lot of flavour and the meat wasn't dry, unlike some other versions I've tried in the past. The wings were fried really well. Everything was just damn tasty. After passing this initial test, we went full-bore carnivore mode and placed another order for more cheesesteaks and wings. It was a meat-feast for the ages, all at a place found completely by accident. I appreciate how they offer different sizes of cheesesteaks since this allowed me to try multiple flavours in one sitting. I also like the fact they are open late (even later on Friday / Saturday) since finding tasty late-night food in this area seems a bit difficult. Staff that night was friendly, too. I was craving their cheesesteaks and wings the next morning so that was a good sign. I'm glad we gave this place a shot and would definitely stop by again if in the area.

Judging this for what it is. A delicious messy steak sub. There are other things on the menu but,…read morethe steak sub is why you come here. The actual place has no real dining area. Just some benches and garbage receptacles. Don't let the inside appearance deter you from eating here though!! This sub was worth it to me. They have their own unique sauce that has a little sweetness to it. I ordered mine with onions, mushrooms and, mild peppers. Next time I will try it with hot peppers instead. I think that will cut the sweetness of their special sauce to perfectly balanced level. I ordered an 8" with fries and it was under $15. I think that is a good deal by today's standards. This sub is FULL of chopped steak. From end to end of the bun and filled to the point of almost overflowing. When you take a bite make sure you have the double foil it's wrapped in under you for the steak and juice that will definitely fall out to catch it. It's so messy that I kept the inner foil wrapped around sub because it was already messy and I used the outer foil as a way to hold it without getting hands all messy. Fries were nothing special. They come unsalted. Without asking the bag had napkins, ketchup packs and salt packs. That's it. Cash only. No frills. Great steak sub.

When spending almost $600 for a meal for two, all factors must check off. This establishment is located in a nondescript building near the airport. The interior is modern and clean but lacks charm and pizzazz. After having a bit of water before food arrived, we were brought an additional $9 bottle of water without being asked if we wanted one. We normally don't drink water with our meals especially when we order a $120 to $140 bottle of wine. This is my only complaint. Waiters should not assume! The tuna was probably the best of all items we ordered. It was divine! The steaks were very tender, moist, and piping hot - must be the 500F plate they serve it on. The potatoes gratin and mushrooms were way above average. Excellently prepared. There is limited parking and if you park at The Holiday Inn it can be a long walk to the front doors. All in all, it was an enjoyable evening with the most delicious food!
