My experience here was very easy and straight forward. I placed an order using the app at 1:30pm on a Sunday. I ordered a large mint mojito and a medium Raspberry Mint Iced Tea. The subtotal for this order turned out to be $13.95. The drinks were promised to be ready by 1:35pm. I arrived at 1:40pm and the drinks were sitting on the counter waiting for me to pick up. Both drinks already had the lid on it which I appreciated it because I remember years ago (before one opened in Valencia) they didn't put the lids on for you and they were a little tricky to get on. This made it a quick grab and go for me. When I got into the car, my mint mojito tasted as sweet, creamy, and dreamy as I remember them always being. There was also a good amount of ice where it didn't dilute the flavors, but it also kept my drink cool throughout my consumption of the drink. My partner also really enjoyed his Raspberry Mint Iced Tea. He said it was exactly what he wanted, and I think next time I'll try a sip of his. The service was great here! They answered my million and one questions about their menu because I was very indecisive about what I wanted. This was my first time here, so I wasn't sure what to get. I ended up getting the Oatmeal Cookie Cold Brew. It was ok, not the best tasting. I would definitely come back to try something different though. I want to give it another shot! My coworker and I went for coffee and she got a dessert. She got sugar as snack. She originally got a cinnamon walnut morning bun that was stuffed with sugar. This coffee shop doesn't have any espresso drinks. They specialize in cold brew and drip. So no lattes etc. I always love their mint mojito . It is so refreshing with fresh mint scent. I love Philz in Valencia... lots of parking available in the huge lot & the drinks always come out tasting amazing. I'm sad to report that my all time favorite drink (the cashew cocoa) is a limited time offering and left the menu today. However, Philz is classic and I love stopping by for a coffee. I always come here and it's one of my go-to coffee spots in the SCV. Parking is always easy since there's a big lot, which makes mobile ordering and quick pick-ups really convenient. The pricing is good for how much you get and the quality of the flavors. I'm always excited to see what seasonal drinks they come out with. This time I got the Iced Caramel Coconut and it was so good. It was pretty sweet in my opinion, even at medium sweetness, but it was still creamy and smooth and the flavors were really there. The best way I can describe it is that it tastes similar to Girl Scout Samoas cookies and very coconut forward. I love coconut, so this drink was perfect for me. I usually mobile order and the drinks are always ready on time, and the staff is always nice. From the regular menu, I always get the Philtered Soul Cold Brew or the Oatmeal Cookie Cold Brew. I also like how you can adjust everything like sweetness and milk options to customize your drink. There are also some seats inside. The breakfast burritos are not worth it . Don't even be tempted to try it. I was in a desperate situation where this was the only food I could consume. I thought it would be promising with a $7 price tag. Like maybe I had found a lil deal. Unfortunately $7 should have been my first red flag. I wanted to try a new spot, so I came in to grab a hot chai with almond milk. The barista was super friendly and helped me customize my drink to how I wanted it. She offered to have them make it creamy so it wasn't just straight milk poured in, so I went with what she suggested. I did say without sweetener as I'm not a big fan of my chai being sweet. When my order to go was ready, the barista who made it asked me if it was to my liking, I tried it and it didn't taste very good so I asked her to put some sweetener in it, she added brown sugar. It honestly didn't do much to the flavor, the tea tasted like they threw a black tea bag in it, couldn't taste this "creamy latte" they were aiming for and it looked as if they added a splash of milk in it as the color was off. I came here with my wife last Summer while we were on a day date waiting for Mendicino Farms to open up a few doors down. I was not familiar with Philz, and I'm still not, since I've only returned a couple times since then. They have a very different type of coffee product. Its not like Starbucks, which I kinda liked. I'm not well versed on their coffee making process but what I do know is they have a multitude of unique, interesting flavors in both iced and hot coffees to find something that suits your palate. I had no earthly idea about Philz' existence until some friends suggested we head there for an afternoon pick-me-up. Surprisingly, it was in the spot where I had lamented the departure of a trusted coffee place where I could order half asleep and get something predictable. There was little predictable about Philz, my first time there (sure to go back now that I get the vibe and the plan). I had a moment that is rare for me: frozen in indecision, trying to decipher the unfamiliar system on the menu -- wondering if this was a senior minute thing or the novelty of a unicorn in Valencia? Luckily, my friends came to the rescue: pick your strength (medium) and the flavors you like in coffee (rarely any, maybe butterscotch), and the size (better be small in case I hated it). So, when I saw words like brown sugar, maple, caramel, I knew I was on firmer ground at last. Got the small size of Filtered Soul; would have loved the Silken Splendor but could not wrap my Boomer brain around citrus in it! Anathema! So, the coffee was excellent. The flavors natural and subtle, thank the gods. I take it with milk, no sugar and this was almost whipped, latte-esque and super smooth. Not burning hot, just right. Really, brewed and poured to perfection. So, why not a 5? I think the place is too bright. Food places should signal clean and bright, of course (and this Philz is both), but coffee is warm, golden, glowing -- cream walls with more brown, orange, and even greenish accents (like the cup color scheme) would make it a better spot to hang in, for me. Also, it is a bit pricey since I think my brand at home is superb and cheaper because I do it myself. Nonetheless, it is a 4.8, very close to a 5 star joint. Had to meet a friend here so I ordered the rose iced coffee ? It took nearly 15 minutes for my drink to be ready . This drink had absolutely no flavor and I am quite astonished with the crowds that kept flocking in. Maybe I'm missing something here but twice I've been and it's disgusting coming from a coffee lover. I knocked off 4 stars , actually would be 5 stars if possible . The reason being is that as I was waiting for my drink I witnessed the barista making the drinks with her bare hands without using tongs or gloves to garnish the drink with mint !!! Disgusting!!!!! I've coffee rose has been my favorite drink since it was introduced however many years ago but here, it's almost straight coffee. Even at max sweet and max cream, it's just watery and no sweetener at all. Maybe a pinch of brown sugar. I've never heard of Philz Coffee until it was suggested by my son for our afternoon meet up. There was one person ordering at the counter and what appeared to be two people waiting in line. We got behind them and waited. After taking the order, the staff member at the register left. We didn't mind since we were still trying to figure out the menu. After a few minutes a family came up and went straight to the register but then saw us along with the other people, so they asked if we were in line. We said yes, but the people next to us said no -- eh? Apparently, they had already ordered and decided to stand in the ordering line to wait? Anyway....after figuring that out we made our way to the register, the two people realized the confusion they caused so they moved, and the family reset the line back to normal. My issue with that situation was that there were several staff members behind the counter, and no one noticed or cared about the confusion in the line. After finally getting our order in -- two medium cups of the Philtered Soul (house way), coffee cake and almond croissant (both toasted) -- we sat at a table and waited. It didn't seem too long when our order was ready, but I didn't understand why orders were being called to be picked at the high, narrow counter along the walkway to the register. The large, table height counter space at the end is for mobile orders only. Also, the cups of hot coffee were given without lids. You have to ask for it and place it yourself at that higher level. Then we realized that we had to go back to ask for napkins since they don't have them out or give/offer any with your order. It all just seemed chaotic and disorganized. My wife and I love coffee. Since Philz recently opened in Valencia, we had to try it. Unfortunately, we went on a holiday weekend and it was packed. The wait was quite long for the coffee, but it was worth it. The special pour over blends are great and there lots to choose from. They do have seating inside and outside, but on a cold day the inside seating goes fast. I like the fact, they have plenty of baristas brewing the various coffees which cuts down the wait time.
