It's a Hawaiian take on coffee here in Santa Clarita...Now if you did not already know this, Hawaii does have some good coffee...Their Kona is da bomb. Julianna greeted us and explained how they make the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Cold Brew with a cloud on top...she had me at "cloud!" It was smooth, not too sweet and the espresso was not masked. I also ordered the individual coffee cake which was freshly baked. It was moist inside with a crunchy cinnamon topping. There were plenty of tables outside but some lacked shade from the sun. Kevin and I always enjoy coming to Makenna Koffee Company this location has such a fun, high energy vibe that makes it a lively spot to grab coffee! That said, weekends and mornings can get ridiculously busy. The line can extend into the lobby, and sometimes we've had to wait 10-15 minutes just to place an order, then another 15-30 minutes for our drinks. We completely understand though! It's a very popular, fast paced location. If you're short on time or just want a quick coffee, this location might not be ideal. But honestly, the drinks make the wait worth it. Everything we've tried has been absolutely delicious, a little on the sweeter side, and packed with flavor. My personal favorite is the Maui Matcha Chiller it's smooth, refreshing, and just hits perfectly. Kevin loves experimenting with their other drinks too, and we've yet to find one we didn't enjoy. The inside of the café is beautiful, and the outside seating area is just as aesthetically pleasing. It's definitely a younger crowd spot we've noticed lots of coffee dates and friends meeting up but that energy makes it a fun place to hang out! I've been a frequent visitor to Makenna Koffee in Valencia for years. Over the past couple of months, they've been changing their menu, and not for the better. I recently ordered two breakfast sandwiches, and for whatever reason they no longer included cheese. I wish they had told me before I spent $15. If cheese is no longer available, they could at least let customers know that cream cheese options are available. The breakfast sandwiches used to be the bomb back in the day, but these days they're almost inedible. Also, is it really that hard for baristas to remember their customers' names and usual orders? I've been here twice in the last few weeks during the weekends. Each time it is complete chaos. The store is too small to accommodate the number of customers, there are only a few tables so it would be difficult to find seating if you planned to sit down to drink your coffee and eat. The line is usually super long and there's no designated area to wait for your order. The staff haphazardly calls out your name as the drinks are ready, and many people crowd the area near the register as this is where orders that are ready are placed. I had to sift through many people to get to the front to get my drink, and we had to do this multiple times because our drinks were called as they were ready. This place really needs some organization with their ordering system, and they need a space for picking up orders. I really think their store is too small. I didn't try any of the food here, but they do offer breakfast sandwiches and some baked goods. Their drink menu is huge and actually a bit overwhelming. I had one of their specials, it was good but definitely very sweet and sugary. I wouldn't put this shop very high in my list for coffee shops in the SCV. read more

My bf and I have been to the Simi Valley location which we really enjoyed! I forgot this location existed so after my mom's physical therapy appointment, we decided to stop by for a little treat. Parking lot is a bit small but otherwise big if you don't mind walking. It's connected to a church I believe and some other shops nearby. Walked in, there was a line and busy. It was loud and everyone there seemed to be on their laptop. I ordered The Nutty Irishman which I've had before and it was phenomenal as always, and my mom ordered a mixed berry smoothie that she really enjoyed. Also, the screens with the menus inside are really hard to read, which made it even harder to make a choice. I've given this coffee shop chance after chance because they have such an extensive menu, and I especially love their seasonal and holiday drink offerings. Unfortunately, the service and wait times continue to be a major issue. My most recent visit was about a week ago, and nothing had changed. I stopped in during the middle of the day when there wasn't even a line, yet it still took over 20 minutes to get my drink. To make matters worse, it was missing the Kona cloud that I paid extra for. This isn't a one-time occurrence either, I've lost count of how many times I've ordered a drink that either came with cold foam or I had cold foam added, only for it to be missing. The staff is usually willing to remake the drink, but after repeatedly experiencing the same mistakes, it becomes frustrating. Between the long waits and frequent order inaccuracies, it feels like attention to detail is lacking. On multiple visits, employees seemed more focused on chatting with each other than keeping orders moving efficiently. I've also tried ordering ahead through the app, hoping that would help, but I've still run into issues with drinks being made incorrectly or not being ready when the app indicated they would be. It's disappointing because the drinks themselves are good and the menu is one of the best around. But when every visit seems to involve either a long wait, a mistake with my order, or both, it's hard to justify coming back regularly. I really like their Maui Latte and honestly didn't really try anything else but I think they hit the nail on the head with this hawaiian theme latte. Very delicious and well balanced drink! Stopped at two McKenna coffee locations this weekend. My boyfriend and I were traveling up north. We found this place because it was halfway en route to our first stop. I had the North Shore twice this weekend just because it was so delicious white chocolate, chocolate, and macadamia! My boyfriend had the lucky charms and really loved it since he is a cereal guy! I have had outstanding customer service with incredibly friendly attitudes and total efficiency as well as times with not-so-cheery attitudes, delays, as well as being given inaccurate or incorrect change. The shop vibe is upbeat and lively. The indoor seating is plentiful and the outdoor covered shaded areas are amazing as well. Plenty of parking in the area out front. Solo Bathroom is gender neutral and, like the service, hot or miss on the cleanliness and stocking of paper products.
