I get both pho and banh mi here all the time with my friends and love Pho919. It's one of the best Asian run places in the Triangle! I came a few weeks ago and tried their Viet coffee with condensed milk. I really enjoyed the drink as the coffee flavor profile was strong but not too intense! Next time I order this drink, I will get less ice. had to get some whole milk added (and ice removed) to this drink to help dilute the strong sweet and coldness. The decor reminds me of Hong Kong. Everywhere was super clean. Food came out a little slow but no problem. It's long for people in a rush during lunch even if itsnot busy. I got the tomyum with noodles. It was decent but not my favorite. Chicken came out boiled and no flavor. My friend got brisket pho and all was good except it was way too salty. The brisket itself was plentiful and good. Would we come back? Possibly for pad Thai or something besides soup noodles. They had a cute robot deliver to the tables and it talks. The menu has changed a bunch since the first time I've been to this spot. There's a great variety of Thai and Viet items to select from. I've tried the boat noodles, tom yum, drunken noodles and pho. Everything has been great. The Thai tea is solid too. The interior is very big and has ample seating. There is also a little robot that brings out your food. My only complaint is the staff are a bit inattentive. When it comes time to pay, I usually just walk up to the counter since I've had to wait 15 min + for someone to come to my table. read more

My Pho 919 experience is always a bit of a roller coaster of emotions, but one thing is for sure is that I will always enjoy the food. This place is a local Vietnamese spot that also serves Thai food, and there truly is something for everyone. As I mentioned previously, there are always a bunch of emotions that I go through and I have a feeling that others do as well. Phase 1 is the excitement. I always walk in to see that the restaurant has a decent sized crowd. The decor is lively and there is a little robot serving tables giant bowls of pho. This is so cool! You open the menu and the prices are a bit steep, but there are so many options. They have the Vietnamese classic dishes like pho, vermicelli bowls, and rice dishes. They also have traditional Thai noodles, and hot pots. There is so much to choose from! Phase 2 brings a bit of deflation and is a buzz kill to the experience. Pho 919 consistently seems to be slow when it comes to service and the delivery of food. On an average day, I might wait about 30 minutes. If it's busy, my family and I have waited over an hour before. If this place was quicker, it would definitely be my #1 Vietnamese food option, but sometimes, I simply do not want to wait this long. In Phase 3, I am content. The food arrives, and although I feel that the portions may not match the price, I do not leave hungry. The food itself is great. Their vermicelli bowls are done quite well, the pho has a lot of complex flavors to it, their Thai drunken noodles are packed with some heat, but delicious as well, and their beef tendon hot pot with rice melts in your mouth. I don't think I have had a bad dish from here, although I would say their Tom Yum sour hot pot is a bit of an acquired taste. Too much of that dish has your tongue feeling a certain kind of sting. In the end, I cannot always say that the food is worth the wait based on some of the prices I pay. However, the diversity and quality of the food is a drawing factor, and is certainly worth a visit. I've only tried the pho at Pho 919, and while it's not my personal favorite, I still find myself coming back. The people I usually go with really enjoy it and I must say, the service is consistently great, which adds to the experience. I think it may just come down to personal preference. I tend to like a cleaner, lighter broth, and this one leans a bit heavier for me. That said, I'm open to trying other dishes next time because everything else about the restaurant is solid. It's been a while since we've visited. They've updated their decor so that it's more of a tropical vibe. They also added Thai food to the menu. It was very busy for a Wednesday night & they were clearly very short handed. Despite that, we were taken care of in a timely manner. Our appetizers were very good. Fried Vietnamese egg rolls were very well made & fried perfectly to a light crunch. Fish cakes were very well flavored. As for entrees, the Thai boat noodle with beef was very food. Having been a loyal customer of Pho 919 for years, I've regretfully noticed a significant shift in the quality of the Pho. While I understand that changes in management might occur, the broth recipe is now fundamentally different. It's lost its clarity and traditional flavor, becoming a much darker and heavily spiced broth. Additionally, the brisket is no longer sliced thinly, which affects the overall texture of the dish. I sincerely hope the original recipe returns. read more

I'm not sure what happened after the new management, but the place took a pretty hard downturn in my opinion. The interior has been completely redesigned, and I think it looks a lot nicer. The decorations make the place feel a bit more comfortable compared to the previous all-white diner vibe. The menu has expanded by quite a bit, and they have added a lot of drinks and a whole new Thai selection. The prices have also gone up by quite a bit, and I know inflation has its own part in this, but the jump in price really shocked me. The pho itself was solid, pretty much the same as before. The pad thai was not great. The chicken felt like it was compressed. Just imagine a piece of chicken that has been pounded and compacted so many times that when you go in to bite it, it is just a really hard chunk. I was honestly really disappointed with it, given how much of the dish was chicken. Had to just give up on the chicken and eat everything else around it. Don't think I would recommend coming back until some changes are made. read more

Let me first start by saying, at the time of this review I was in Vietnam & Thailand for two weeks, one week prior to writing this review. I spoke to the owner Michael, he is from Bangkok. I told him I was interested to see what Pho in Raleigh tasted like compared to my recent trip to Vietnam. He ensured me that I would like it. Cautiously optimistic, I was excited to try it. I ordered fresh spring rolls, they were some of the best I've had. The pho was a southern Viet style broth, meaning very beefy and not herby like the north. This Pho compared to the extensive volume of pho I've consumed over the past 14 days in Vietnam is almost identical. Despite not sitting on a sidewalk eating it, it replicates what you would get on the other side of the world! Great place. Nice owner. I made one request to split a bowl of pho in 2 for my kids and they refused to honor it and asked me to do it at the table which was super messy. Pho 919's pho is best described as passable; It's my go-to for a fix when I can't be bothered to make a farther drive. That being said, there's a lot of room for improvement. The pho itself leaves room for improvement - the quality of the meat, the flavor of the broth, and the quality of the noodles are all good enough, but fall short of great. Serving robots that move slower than walking pace kill the vibes a bit too. I'm very excited for this review to change, though, as there will soon be Hainanese/Thai chicken dishes coming to the menu - something that I hope to try soon and award a better rating to! read more

Ever since the owners of Mekong in RTP retired and sold the business I have been longing for a pho that compares -- and now I have found it -- at Pho 919. Generously loaded with noodles and beef in a perfectly spiced broth, this is real-deal pho. What a wonderful restaurant this is! It's roomy, with pleasant atmosphere, a wide and varied menu, and pho brought to your table by a robot (so it arrives piping hot and the server doesn't risk spilling a single drop). And if you're lucky, the new owner will come and say hello. The first time I went, I was with someone who loves pho but doesn't eat beef, so they gave her vegetable broth pho with chicken (not on the menu) and she loved it. My parents really like this place, and I am a little confused to why. We went here a few nights ago for dinner. My parents both got a Pho bowl. Honestly, genuinely so confused about the low overall rating for Pho919 because it's a family favorite. The broth, meat, portion sizes are all perfection. We always order the brisket pho, and the brisket is so tender that our toddler son enjoys it too. We've also tried the fried egg rolls and the fried rice, both of which we have zero complaints about. You order and pay at the counter as soon as you walk in and then find a table. The garnishes and drinks will be brought to you almost immediately, and it's not too long of a wait after that for the food to be brought out. As we await for the staff to acknowledge us., it took awhile but this lady come up to us to tell us that we're supposed to stand at the front and place our order there before we can sit. We were like.,well if you have that policy then make sure you someone at the front to wait on people as they stand there looking at their menu on the wall., they have no paper menus! Second, $19 for a combination rice platter is way too expensive esp. on how it's cooked or non thereof.,my dish is supposed to be grilled but as you can see the shrimps and meat has barely touched the fire and so pale, shrimps has a weird smell and taste (not fresh) and not properly grilled. The chicken was too dry. I barely touched it. My husband's pho is bland and has this fake tasting broth., courtesy of a bouillon., we can tell when broth is boiled for hours. Not this one. And the broth was lacking flavor. Needs more spice and fish sauce. We also ordered a pork rice plate to go. The pho was really great, with lots of brisket/flank. I've been on a pho kick lately, and this was the 5th place I've been to in the last week (Bowl of Pho, Bonjour, Pho and Poke House, and Pho Thien Phat). I liked the broth and pho here the best of all. On the other hand, my friend's meal was not as compelling. Just some chicken on noodles, none of the fun accoutrements I'm used to seeing (pickled daikon and carrots, fried shallots, peanuts, etc). So his experience wasn't as good as mine. One interesting thing was that they were using a serving robot cart on the day that we were there. The human server followed the robot around, and delivered the food to the table. Upon entering, we ordered at the register with the menu posted on the right and paid right away. It's not a very expansive menu compared to some pho restaurants, but they have all the classics. One note is that all the pho broths are beef-based, so not vegetarian friendly! I got: * Spicy Chicken Pho (White Meat) (Beef Broth): brought the heat! The chicken was well cooked and the noodles were a good consistency. They only have one portion size, but it was a good amount. During and afterwards I didn't need to drink much water which is usually a good sign that they don't over-salt or use too much MSG. The restaurant is pretty large and did a good job at spacing the in-person diners. They were prompt in getting us water, bringing utensils, and the plate of add-ins (bean sprouts, jalapenos, limes, mint, etc.). Sauces at the table were sriracha and another hot sauce. There was however a long-ish wait considering most pho places are pretty quick (since the broth is usually prepared in advance). Their posted hours indicate that they close between lunch and dinner and we arrived slightly after 6 PM, but they were already pretty busy.
