The menu is pretty extensive, although I have to admit most of the time I go for the pho, because there are not a lot of good choices in this area. That being said, the pho would be good in any area. The broth is rich and developed, the accoutrements are good and fresh, nice been sprouts, super fresh basil, nice jalapenos. You can go for the tradition pho tai to a number of specials with lots of entrails, if you like that sort of thing (not for me). Also, the gyoza and spring rolls are very good for appetizers. My peeps always get something different, but not talking for them, except that they say that their meal was good. Service wise, they are very nice, fast, and polite. It is a chilly day here in NC, so it was a perfect day for pho! I've been to Taste a couple times and have never been disappointed. I arrived shortly after the lunch rush, so I was able to quickly snag a table, and ordered the steamed pork gyoza and large rare beef pho. The gyoza was so flavorful and juicy! I liked the dipping sauce, which was equal parts sweet, tangy and spicy. Then came the main event - the pho. I'm pretty positive this broth could bring about world peace. You can tell it's been stewing in the back for days, as any good pho broth does, and it almost doesn't need anything additional added to it! I do like a little additional kick and sweetness, so I added some hoisin and sriracha, but make sure to taste your broth FIRST before adding anything extra. The beef itself was super tender and lean. This is a great meal where you certainly get the best bang for your buck. The large rare beef pho was $13, and the gyoza was $6.50 for 5 pieces. read more

Bottom line: Taste Vietnamese Cuisine has some tasty entries to pick from on the menu. The highlight for me more than once is the Lemongrass Pork Chops, I definitely recommend this delicious, well balanced house special if you get the chance to order it. The Deets: With Taste Vietnamese Cuisine just down the road from me in Morrisville, I am really surprised I have not experienced this restaurant more than I have. I had a visit or two to the restaurant pre-pandemic but was negligent in not placing a review so I am fixing that now since I have had them recently for delivery also. Let's get right down to it, how was the food? The star of TVC that I had in the past at the restaurant as well as recently was the Lemongrass Pork Chops (item H4 on the menu - barbecue pork chops marinated with freshly chopped lemongrass). This item is served with a bed of rice, side salad/lettuce, and a bit of lime chili-fish sauce. The flavor of the pork chops is delicious, nicely balanced between barbecue and lemongrass with neither one being overpowering but complimenting each other. I'd give this designated house special a 4.5 star rating just itself. I have also had the house special fried rice (menu item H5), pork gyoza (steamed), and egg rolls (chả giò - menu item A1). The fried rice has a choice of chicken or Asian sausage mixed with peas, carrots, sweet onions, garlic, with soy sauce on the side. I was satisfied with the fried rice that I ordered with chicken, but have to admit that it was the best when the soy sauce was used on it (I try to stay more on a reduced sodium path however it was a bit bland without it...then again, it is fried rice). The steamed gyoza were tasty, delicious even without using sauce. The chả giò egg rolls again were satisfactory but one of my two rolls appeared a bit overdone. All in all, the food is good and what seals the deal on that is the enjoyment of the lemongrass pork chops each time. Hmmm....not sure. We came here a couple of years ago and loved it, but we just went again recently and it was not great. The food quality seemed different; not as good as it used to be. I got the rice vermicelli with tofu. I don't think it had the right sauce and the vegetables just weren't as good. It didn't really have the right flavor that this dish should usually have. I always ask for the plate to be extra spicy and they so sweetly oblige my request by not only adding in spice to the pork but always give me a side of chili oil to mix in with the noodles. If I'm especially hungry I'll order the Saigon plate- this comes with Plenty of food but you'll want to eat it all in one sitting. I have tried some of their pho and surpringly was not as impressed. Came in on a Sunday with a party of seven (four adults + three kids) at around 5:30 for dinner. The food was actually better than I expected it to be. For apps, we started with the fresh spring rolls (Steamed shrimp and pork, wrapped in thin rice paper with lettuce, cilantro, vermicelli, beansprouts, and mint served with house special peanut sauce). I wasn't a huge fan of the peanut sauce, so I opted for some sriracha instead. For my entree, Pho your way - this was supposed to come with rare beef slices but all of them seemed pretty well done to me. My BF ordered the Saigon Special (rice plate loaded with BBQ Pork, Shrimp, Shrimp Wrap, and an Egg Roll), which he said he liked more than he thought he would. We also ordered the BBQ pork banh mi to split amongst the four adults because we wanted to try it, and it was pretty good. It was definitely a lot of food, but we ate everything. Service was pretty spotty. We asked for extra napkins, which never came. One of the kids accidentally spilled water on the table, and we asked for extra napkins again and they only gave us two...pretty sure giving us a few more napkins is not going to make or break the biz.
