I was blown away by how amazing the food tasted here. I was born and raised in Maryland, which has an abundance of Asian restaurants, and I feel like even the best pho I've had in MD falls short of the pho here. I'm just visiting, and saw that there was a new pho place that opened so I had to come here to see how it compared. You definitely have to know what you are ordering before you actually place your order because I choose a pho that is very popular in their culture but nobody told me it actually comes with bone marrow in the pho! Shocker!! Well when I called the waiter and explained my concerns and how my pho had this red tint of color and this weird glob floating around he was kind enough to tell me what it was and of course I returned it and ordered something more generic. Arrived just before the lunch rush...great service; must say that the service I observed after the rush started was just as good. Pho was very good! I got the P16. We had a a party of ten, so the service was a little weird. Our dishes all came out individually about 5 minutes apart from each other. Once I saw a new Pho place in Knoxville, I knew I had to check it out. On the way to the airport, I dragged my sister along to check it out, about 6pm on a Tuesday. The place is huge, and wasn't very full, maybe five tables full, and six servers out and about. I only note this because service was quite bad. It was slow and awkward and seemed to be very kink-filled, more on that in a minute. I didn't take anything off for that, because the rest was so good, but even if I did, the score would stay the same honestly. She got Pho Dac Biet, and loved it. Fair warning, she got the small size and it was still massive, wow. Like a couple of other folks noted, the broth is very different from the other places in town, aka not sweet. I got some spring rolls, with shrimp, which were solid. Honestly, nothing special but not bad, pretty good. Also, got a banh mi, which was fantastic, and had more filling than I expected, which was a nice change of pace. A weird thing though, the server asked if my sister wanted a container for her pho, as she still had a ton left after eating. She said yes, and she brought back a quart soup container. I'm not sure how we were to maneuver that one...dump from the wide bowl into the narrow container on the table with large spills or what? Thought she would take the bowl back and fill it, or a different container, or frankly any other permutation would have been better. My friends had been trying to get me to try pho for months and said Pho 99 was the real deal. We stopped in during a recent trip to Knoxville and they were 100% correct: the pho was great! I ordered the pho with sirloin steak and brisket. It was prepared quickly and served with a platter of extra bean sprouts, jalapeno peppers, and a selection of other sauces. so I normally like to go to a place a few times before writing a review but I feel like I've tried enough things on here to give my review. I ate here with some friends and they ordered the pho and loved it. One of my friends jokingly complained about her pho having too much meat. the quality of the food is great. I ordered a spicy noodle dish with beef and pork and it was delicious. I love how this place is authentic and has so many authentic dishes to choose from. I ordered the grilled pork and steamed rice dish to go for my husband to eat later and decided to try a bite and it's going to be hard not finishing this dish myself before he comes home lol the flavor of the grilled pork is delicious. I also ordered the grilled pork spring rolls to go and loved them! it was so fresh and the pork in the rolls were so good and flavorful. They have several different, authentic smoothies and drinks to choose from. (including Duran and taro smoothies, Vietnamese style egg nog, Thai tea with pearl milk...) I decided to try the iced french coffee with condensed milk and loved it. (I'll have to try one of their other drinks next time! never heard of some of them before and I'm curious :p) Not only was everything I tried good, the portions were big and the prices were pretty cheap, with most dishes ranging between $8-$12. I received great, friendly service while I was there and the atmosphere felt very clean. Oh and almost forgot to mention the containers of hot chili sauce and pickled jalapeños on each table! If you order to go and you want it COOKED... it's a charge. Very confused by that but I agreed to it because I was extremely tired. Best Vietnamese food in all of Knoxville! This has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants. They're always super fast and the Pho is phenomenal!!! Haha. If you're in a hurry, try their to go Pho! They individually wrap each ingredient so that you can assemble it all when youre ready for optimal freshness. My wife and I have eaten lunch at Pho 99 several times. Service has been quite satisfactory. We've always ordered the same thing - I get the P4, pho tái bò viên - with sliced beef (tái) and Vietnamese meatballs (bò viên) - and she gets bánh xèo - Vietnamese crêpe with pork and shrimp - both excellent. The pho portions are huge and tasty. They bring you the bean sprouts, basil, lettuce leaf, jalapeño slices, and a wedge of lime - before they bring you the broth and noodles, so you have time to shred the basil and lettuce before the soup arrives, and you can fold it all in, with your preferred amount of jalapeño - I confess I overdid it today, even for my chili-burnt south Texas tongue. I see that Yelp can handle French accent marks, but can't do the special vowel marks for Vietnamese. read more

I ordered the Pho with tendon, tripe, brisket, and rare sirloin all tender just not flavorful nor in abundance. The broth was ok not salty or sweet lacked the richness. The prices were not bad however the variation in actual portions from medium to large appears to really translate to whether or not you want more broth as the noodle meat ratio doesn't really change. Pho is one of my favorite foods to have but wasn't impressed with this recipe. Walking in, it has a nice atmosphere and nice people working there. I ordered the steak and beef shank. The beef tasted old when having pho it is suppose to be raw and cook in the broth. The veggies on the side were only parsley and bean sprouts. No lime or cilantro like I have had at every other pho restaurants I have been to. Overall, very nice place but just wouldn't order the pho again from here. read more
