Summer Roll
Carolyn L.

Nothing soothes you better than a large bowl of pho on a cold rainy day.. If that don't do it. They have sushi and typical Chinese dishes you can pick from.. For a Friday afternoon around 3:30/4pm. This place is jumping. The waitresses were all busy like bees running around assisting the customers. I have about 3 waitresses checking on me.. Which is really nice. I like their Pho Dac Biet. I alway get the medium or large bowl. Yet it seem as though I can't get enough. Tried a sushi roll today. And it touch the spot for my sushi craving. Also wanted some fried tofu, and it was good with the dipping sauce. It's a very laid back type of place. Nothing fancy., Yet it's comforting. Someplace you can sit and eat by yourself and walk away feeling pretty good over all.

Came across this place from google map and decided to try it out and we all pretty happy with our food selection. We had the vermicelli salad, sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken with white rice, fried rice, noodle with grilled salmon, and bun bo hue (spicy beef soup). We also asked for their spicy chili oil and it was home made and have a good taste to it. We really enjoy this place and recommend it to those that traveling to this area.

I came across this restaurant via a Google search for sushi initially but was excited to see pho! I'm new to SC and the only place I knew to go was a spot in Charlotte so I was even more thrilled that this was closer and had great reviews. The food was amazing! I had something like a spring roll appetizer and a small shrimp pho with beef broth. The service was prompt. I was seated quickly and the food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. The ambiance is super chill, it's really cute inside. I was alone but told my boyfriend that we should come here for a date night soon.

Kalbi rice plate

So far, the most authentic Vietnamese cuisine we've found around Fort Mill. We ordered the grilled pork bun (rice vermicelli), Kalbi (Korean beef short ribs), chicken fried rice, and fried egg rolls. Everything was very good. My only complaint is the Kalbi's temperature could've been hotter. I think it sat around and cooled down before the server brought it to our table. Service was slow but polite. Will be back to try their sushi.

This place is great for sushi. I'm hooked on their Rainbow Roll. Great quality fish. The vermicelli is also excellent.

Very good Pho. Meats were very tender. The best I've tasted since relocating from Maryland.

With it being my first time back in Fort Mill after sometime, I was ecstatic to see this place show up. Upon entrance, the elevated honeycomb seating on the right immediately caught my eye and I knew I had to sit there. The staff was polite in greeting me and provided recommendations after I sat down. For a drink, I decided to try the POKKA Oolong Tea, which was a toss up on whether I'd enjoy it. It was delicious and settled perfectly with all the food. For an appetizer, I decided to get the Tokoyaki which came in a solid portion and tasted great. For my ramen dish, I opted for a house favorite, Spicy Garlic Ramen with a level 2 heat. The whole dish was a perfect balance of tasty topping, well cooked noodles, and a delicious broth. The pork was so tender and of good quality. All in all, this place has such a wonderful atmosphere for grabbing some food by yourself or with friends. The small plates make for perfect sharing and the seating arrangement breeds a feeling of togetherness so often missing from dining experiences. The staff was so kind and helpful, and I even got to learn a bit about the beauty of Indonesia.

We had a great dinner, but there were three things that kept it from being a 5-star experience. First, the air conditioning. I understand it's a hibachi restaurant and the grills naturally make the dining room warmer, but I've eaten at many hibachi restaurants over the years and have never experienced one this hot. Everyone at our table was sweating, and it became pretty uncomfortable. Second, the appetizer. The salad was fantastic--they certainly didn't skimp on the dressing--and the soup was absolutely delicious. However, the "appetizer" consisted of just two shrimp. Since I ordered the Hibachi Steak & Scallops, two shrimp were a nice addition, but I wouldn't really consider two shrimp an appetizer. My girlfriend ordered the Hibachi Chicken & Shrimp, so her appetizer was simply two more shrimp. It would have been nice to have another appetizer option instead of just adding shrimp to every meal. Third, the chef. The food was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious, but the hibachi experience itself was missing the entertainment. One of the things that makes hibachi special is watching the chef combine excellent cooking with fun tricks, conversation, and interaction with the guests. Our chef prepared the meal well and did the classic onion volcano, but beyond that, he simply cooked. It lacked the energy and engaging performance that I've come to expect from a hibachi restaurant. Those three things aside, the meal itself was outstanding. The salad, soup, steak, scallops, chicken, shrimp, fried rice, and vegetables were all excellent, and the portions were very generous. The friendly staff and delicious food definitely make Fuji worth visiting, and with just a few improvements, it could easily earn that fifth star from me. Overall, I give Fuji 4 stars. My meal came with chicken, and my wife and two kids also got chicken, and it was overcooked for all of us. My father used to have a saying for chicken that was overcooked and dry. He'd call it "milk chicken" because you'd have to take a drink of milk to help you swallow the dry chicken. The chicken from Kochi is definitely milk chicken. The ginger sauce is fantastic. Great flavor and texture. The steak is also overcooked, and requires some hardy teeth and a good drink to get down your throat. The carrots are canned and they're sweet. I don't mind canned carrots, but it's a let down here because it's an odd contrast due to the meat being so hard to eat, but the carrots are mushy. My mouth was like, "What the... Is going on in here!?!" Lastly, the rice. It's fried rice, apparently. Well, it's supposed to be. Though it's also slightly sweet and - get this - has an odd fishiness flavor and smell to it. Ultimately, we paid a bit of money tonight to kochi and now my wife is making something else for dinner, and my two kids are making PB&J's. Me? I sat with a gallon of milk and choked down the meat. So I'm all set. We don't find the need to experiment with an order in the future. This first-time order was all the experience we needed.

The rolls had decent flavor, but they were served at room temperature and were not particularly memorable. The one bright spot of our visit was our server, Jennifer. She provided excellent service and was far more attentive and knowledgeable than anyone else we encountered. Unfortunately, before even reaching our table...which was exactly 12 feet from the front door and 3 feet from the host desk..., we were repeatedly pressured to choose the buffet despite clearly stating multiple times that we wanted to order from the à la carte menu. We were asked approximately six separate times by four different employees who were all standing within a few feet of one another. The experience felt uncomfortable, tense, and overly pushy. Overall, the atmosphere felt disorganized and desperate rather than welcoming. Because of the constant pressure and lack of coordination among the staff, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant.
