I had a crazy pho craving the other day and the closest place to where I live does not have the beefy, brothy goodness I was looking for, so I took advantage of a discounted week on Uber and got a ride across town to get my fix. I know the service here generally leaves a lot to be desired, so I placed an order for takeout. The person I dealt with was friendly enough and my food was ready in less than the 15 minutes estimate I was given. When I got home, the broth was still startlingly hot, which is a good thing and the container with the noodles and beef was overflowing. I was worried about whether I would have enough for two meals and I was glad to see I did. For reference, I ordered a number 45, which is pho with all the meats except the eye round steak, which I am not a huge fan of. The tendon and fatty flank are my favorites and there was plenty of that. I got meatballs added. I was sort of disappointed with the 1 meatball cut into a few pieces for $2, but I got over it once I tasted the deliciousness. I also got fried egg rolls and shrimp spring rolls, which were fine, but I sort of wished I did not get them since they were nothing special or anything. Points for giving me peanut sauce with the rolls instead of hoisin with ground up peanuts in it. Since this is one of the best pho places in Malden (there are 4), I will prob be back. Maybe next time I will eat in and see if there service has gotten any better since I had a sit-down meal there in 2010. read more

The rice plate was spread out nicely to make it look big and its a little pricer than normal. If you're in the area, then go for it. I expect bun hue have more beef but they don't have much in it. I wanted to add oxtail on top of whatever is in bun hue & only give me oxtail. I don't like their broth of beef noodle soups I rather go across the street of Pho 99 make better beef noodle soups! Not too impressed w/ it! The smoothies are yummy & I like it thick too. This is one my favorite pho place in Malden. I love their pho so much it's hurts. The pho is always tasty and the price is reasonable.

Extra large is equivalent to small in other restaurant. That's not what I expected when paying $15 dollar for soup noodle. The soup is also bad, made with strong spices and the meat portion is negligible. I will give it two stars if it comes with $8 instead of $15. read more

There's several vietnamese pho around here, but our family has been coming here once or twice every month. But this time may be last. The food here was good compare to others. But service just gotten worse and worse. We order a few appetizer, spring roll, egg roll, egg pancake ban Cao, and pho and grill pork and others. But every time the waiter ls come by only drop the food and goes and one sauces for a few of us and 4 appetizer, we had to keep looking for him to come over, while we're eating, and before we can tell them they would drop off food without utensil or knife to cut meat, and we told them we would share the pho, but can't get any of them to bring us bowl to share, the food was getting cold and I had to walk over and wait by the counter to get bowl. I stopped by here for Pho because I was in the area with my family. We went in and everyone ordered pho. I wanted to try their bun bo hue with ox tail. Everyone's order came out and not mines. So I waited. Everyone was down with their food and I thought maybe they ate fast because they are hungry. So everyone finished and my food still didn't come out. So I ask the waitstaff if they can check if hey put my food in yet and it's being prepared. If not, I will get the check because everyone finished and I still didn't get my food yet. Waitstaff came out with the bill with no apology. Bill was $36. We put down $40. They took the bill in and didn't come back with change. Did they assume that's the tip? What if I want to put more? Only reason why I come to this restaurant is because it's close by my house. I've given this place numerous tries because it's a hit or miss on their food and service. I get the same rice plate every time I order and it only gets worst. 1/18/16 as of this date, I went back give it another try. Nothing has changed. I went with my friend and we order 2 individual items and when the food came out only one plate was served while the other was never written down. It makes completely no sense on why there's one entrée and two guests. While eating, the employee was yelling at another employee who was new at his job right at the front desk. I've been going here on and off for about 3 years. The quail is good. The chicken wings are good (similar sauce to what's on the quail). The pho is reliable. Over the past 3 months the quantity of meat has changed (getting less and less )in the varying soups. We ordered a "special" which is supposed to contain all the varieties of meat and it did not have tendon. It only had one small piece of tripe. Request: Bring back the bowls overflowing with meat -- insure there is a good even dispersal of the meats that are in the menu description and definitely don't omit anything. It was the same a few weeks back with getting a pork knuckle type of soup. There were just 2 tiny bones of pork knuckles. The noodles and broth are great, the meats that were there are fine. The pho was decent. The rice plate was horrendous. The vermicelli bowl was the best of the bunch. All around the dishes were skimpy on the meat - only one or two pieces of brisket in my cousin's pho. And while the grilled pork in my vermicelli bowl was super delicious, there weren't tons. Though still - the rice plate was the worst. The grilled steak was overcooked and just plain funky looking. The pho's broth was tasty and there were lots of noodles - but otherwise it was the lamest pho I've tasted. I guess as lame as the service, which was practically nonexistent. Located in Malden Center, this is by far the cleanest pho restaurants I've been to. The pho tastes like any other pho places I've been to. The service is okay. The tri-colored dessert is mediocre in my opinion. Not the best I've had. However, their mung bean shakes and red bean shakes are amazing. Their vermicelli bowls are amazing too. Rating is on food only. Also, I must preface this review with the fact that I am of Southeast Asian descent and I grew up in the equivalent of "Little SE Asia" so I KNOW my pho. Mom obviously makes the best for me but this is as close to home in a restaurant setting. I regularly frequent the typical Boston Chinatown stops (xinh xinh, pho Pasteur, etc) and also hit up Le's in Harvard and the pho shop in the Comm Ave Super88 and none of those compare. Could just be my tastes (the more savory, the better) but it felt like home. I went w/a pho newbie and ordered a ban xeo for us to share and then the x-large pho special with all the good stuff. Note that I'm a petite size 2 woman and ate it ALL :) Happy belly. Service was fine too, hood even for this kind of joint. I really really try to like this place but I can't. Nowadays, if I want good Pho, I'll drive to Chinatown or Dorchester. The service was okay. With the 5-10 table staffs they have, nobody ever was attentive nor care until you order or pay the bill. The only thing I do not like about this place is when it comes to ordering the meatballs as part of the entree or side. As the entree, they are really really cheap on the amount of meatball quarters. 4 quarters of meatball in it!! What kind of business is this? That's like giving you one whole meatball that's not even that expensive to buy from the package. Another issue is when you're ordering it as add-on. Not sure what eceryone's expectations are for this spot but for the price, worth every effin' penny. Tofu curry yellow sauce with rice is ginormous. The grilled pork vermicelli is as good as just about any place around and is even better if ordered with the tiny shredded cabbage fried egg roll. Portion of grilled pork on vermicelli was as plentiful as just about any i've had. The lunch special sandwiches are prime: bon mi! Six different varities including lemongrass chicken, grilled pork, beef, vegetarian and two others. No vietnamese style cold cuts with the traditional shredded vegetables but excellent none the less. $4.50 a sandwich is a little pricey but still serves for a cheap, filling and tasty lunch. Baguettes are always fresh and crispy and contain a goos portion of meat. Call ahead at lunch since they seem to get backed up at lunch and the sandwiches take 10-15 minutes. No I have not sampled the namesake here but will soon. read more

This place changed it's name, used to be Pho Hoa, now the great Pho Bistro. I'm glad they changed their name to distinguish themselves away from a Pho Hoa inside Boston chinatown. This place is great and shall not be compared to the low-class service and food of Boston chinatown food. I always say the suburbs outside of Boston have better food hands down. This is another prime example. The Pho here is amazing. It is great. The Pho here makes me feel good on any cold day. I come here often, and recommended it to my fellow ELITE friend (and real-life friend) who live around the area and has wrote a review right above me. The service here is extraordinarily fast, the pho comes out within 5 minutes the waiter hears the word "Pho". Price is fair. I had just gotten off my flight from cancun so I wanted a nice comforting pick me up after my travels. I ordered a standard pho dac biet to go. Asked for largest size - portion was medium at best. I didn't think the broth was that terrible the first time I went in a few months ago, but this time it was noticeably bad. The broth tasted like chicken bouillon based and chock full of msg. Not happy at all. I just got take-out and after digging in for a few minutes I took a look at the meat I noticed it was a bit "rainbow-ish". I had a bite of the brisket and immediately spit it out. I'm not sure if the management has changed but the service and quality of food has improved here. The bun bo hue broth tastes much better to me and the entire staff has changed. Our server was especially attentive and just exceptional with her service. She remembered our order even with our personalized adjustments. We even asked for fish sauce with our bun bo hue so we could dip our meat in it and she knew exactly what type we wanted and exactly what it was meant for. We go back to this restaurant at least once a week now and the experience is always just as pleasant. read more
