Very good bowl of pho! The serving is generous and the flavor of broth very good. So far the best I've had in Chico. Hope they remain authentic and don't "water down" their dishes. Chico badly needs authentic Asian food! Different varieties of meat combo in soup are available just like authentic Vietnamese restaurants I'm used to. This place just opened so they're still getting up to speed with their operation. Need to offer hot tea at some point. And hopefully they will expand their menu further to include additional dishes of delicious Vietnamese cuisine. read more

i have never had an experience where the pho I got tasted so good that I felt like it didn't need anything else added. no hoisin, no chili, no sriracha, no lime or basil. just pure concentrated flavor from the broth. it wasn't overpowering, truly a perfect chorus of flavor. I make pho at home from time to time with whatever bones I have leftover from my meal, ox tail, chicken, duck, beef, pork, seafood etc... its a great way to ensure I'm not wasting scraps. i thought I had my recipe down until I tried pho bonsa. it humbly put me in my place and reminded me that sometimes no matter how much flair you add, you just can't beat generations of cooking instinct passed down and served in a hot steaming bowl right in front of you. Also their Bahn Mi was killer. the pickled daikon and carrot? fire. the meat selection? amazing. soup and sandwiches is one of my all time favorites. this was truly a meal that fed the soul. Service-wise, they were quick and friendly, the server was kind and even filled me in on some items i was unfamiliar with. Ambiance-wise, I've noticed some resturaunts that serve seafood have a pungent background scent that tends to permeate the air. Its not bad, but also cooking is a refining process and sometimes that means some scent pollution from the kitchen is going to happen. To my genuine surprise - they have an open kitchen design where the pots of pho are boiling away right behind the register! And yet the faintest most pleasant smell of broth was ever so gently wafting over the bar. I think this speaks to the cleanliness and quality of ingredients used in their preparation. As a person that isn't from Chico originally but lived here for a while now, I can say this pho is legit. Other pho places in Chico don't take the time to get their broth the deep rich flavor that real pho broth should have. This place does it right and I'm not saying its thw best pho in the world, but it's definitely the best I've had in Chico. On top of that are the reasonable prices, $12 for a large bowl, it is clean and the service was kind and quick. I also had the spring rolls that were very good as well. Will be coming back for sure. Pho bonsa is my boyfriend and I's go to pho spot in Chico. Being from the Bay Area, it is hard to find authentic Asian cuisine in Chico. Their broth is delicious, the portion sizes are great for the price. We usually get the Chicken Pho and Combo Pho and they are both great with lots of meat. They recently added Banh Mi to their menu and it is the best you can find in this area. The service is wonderful too! read more

The pho was good, just as others say. But the wait time on a Wednesday at 6pm was outrageous. 45 minutes for 2 bowls. Other tables waited a similar time, and there was only about 5 tables with people no don't know what was going on. I hope they can streamline their process. read more

I've probably already reviewed this new place. The soup base is fantastic, so good in fact that I could order a tall cup of it only. Spring rolls and egg rolls are also great. idk what I'm talking about really, as this was my first and only bowl of pho so far. -but it was really good. I really like Japanese udon and miso soup but have a hard time with Chinese soup/noods and the sour flavors some of the ones I've tried have had. I was scared of the sour possibilities. This pho was savory and balanced. The accoutrements like; sprouts, lime, sliced jalapeño, chili oil(made in house), and the anise/licorice flavored sprig of something are nice to play around with. Vietnamese coffee is apparently like Turkish mixed with cowboy over ice(stronger than sweeter). The server dood was soft spoken and nice. I'm not a fan of people and being subject to happening upon the crappiest ones in public. -But this atmosphere and place was okay cause of the staff. I was comfy enough to hog it all down without being too self conscious here. I was really satisfied for experimenting here. read more

Loved Pho Bonsa! The place was spotlessly clean, service was super friendly and quick, and food was delicious. The broth was excellent, probably my new favorite in town. Vietnam Bistro was my previous favorite, however their service has gotten so bad, I don't know that I'll go back. Prices were great- $12 for a large and overall it was a great experience. I've gotten take out from Pho Bonsa just one time and was pleasantly surprised. The takeout packaging was clean and efficient, perfectly suited for pho. The broth was deliciously flavorful and automatic. The additions were quality and well prepared. The pho style meatball for example were the best I have ever had. And plenty of bean sprouts, basil, lime and pepper were included as well. There is obvious pride taken in the preparation of this food and it shows. Its a rare quality. In the past i used to cook my own Pho & it takes so much time to prepare. Since i found this place me and my son just have to order from them.The broth taste so good. AMAZING!!! me and my boyfriend love pho and we've been to all the places here in chico and they all didnt meet our expectations but this place is beyond great! the broth is so rich and you can taste each seasoning, the meat is so tender it just melts in your mouth. We never drink our broths from other places but this place we drank the bowl clean! the appetizers were also so delicious the spring rolls were packed beautifully and the peanut sauce was just so rich. the egg rolls are crispy and have so much flavor that bursts into your mouth. we will be coming again this is an amazing spot and is now our place to go for some lovely scenery and amazing food! :) THE SERVICE WAS AMAZING!
