I had a pretty awesome experience here at Pho de Nguyen. The service was great. A very friendly staff who steadily checked in on me if I was ok or needed anything. Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. Grade: A- Beef Dac Biet Pho had some real high quality meat in it. I had options in noodle and my go-to for any pho spot is the egg noodles. I wish it had more bo vien in it, but I appreciated the combo of meats. The broth seemed authentic, but I wanted a tad more flavor out of it without adding sauces. Overall, the pho grade was a B+ bordering an A-. The star of the show was the grilled pork banh mi. The meat was tender and saucy. In fairness I asked for extra pickles and mayo, but I was very impressed. The bread had the crispy crunch we all look for but minus the stale bread. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. Never wanted to write a review so quickly after having the meal! Mainly because we got A+ service from our server, who was absolutely sweet, accommodating, and great with kids. Upon getting seated, she asked if we wanted a plastic water cup, regular bowl, and plastic utensils for my toddler. I highly prefer being environmentally friendly, so I only opted for the reusable bowl. I truly appreciate her asking me before automatically bringing everything. I ordered the Pho Tai Gau (rare steak and brisket) with thin pho noodles, split bowl with extra noodles to share with my toddler. The meat is super thin and tender! Although we ordered "extra" noodles, it didn't feel like extra compared to a normal bowl, but my toddler wanted more soup than noodles so it worked out. We also got the imperial rolls appetizer. It was tasty but I felt like it was a bit overdone, because it hurt the roof of my mouth haha, but I do prefer it to be crispy than soggy so I'm not complaining! Just be aware :) Nowadays, my best eating out meals are those in which my toddler enjoyed and allowed her to be on her best behavior. Originally wanted the lemongrass beef bun bo hue, but it wasn't available so we had the garlic noodles with chicken for takeout to go to instead, and it was not bad, there was plenty of garlic flavor within the noodles, and the chicken was not too dry. There's also veggies that come with it on the side. The online order was quick and service was efficient, and plenty of utensils and napkins provided. We asked for extra fish sauce too which they were able to accomodate. Early dinner so Pho de Nguyen was pretty empty and the 6 of us were able to get a table right away. Parking in the area wasn't hard but with the metered street parking enforced until 8:00 pm, be sure to set a timer to remind yourself. The menu is a QR code menu and the waitress helped us but suggested we order on 1 phone which means when you go to pay the person with the order on their phone gets the bill. Our usual pho place was closed and we were in the area so decided to check out Pho de Nguyen based on the reviews. Found nearby street parking and walked in. Wasn't busy at all around noon on a weekday. Maybe 2-3 other tables. Server told us to sit anywhere that wasn't reserved and pour us water right away. They utilize a QR code menu and ordering system. We ended up ordering a Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Thai Tea, Oxtail Pho Dac Biet and Rare Steak & Brisket Pho with the regular noodles (there were different options). Side note: I was surprised the pho dac biet didn't include tripe or tendon. The drinks and pho garnishes came out shortly after. We ended up waiting almost 30 min for our soups to come out, which is crazy. Whole time no one came to check on us. In my head I was like, did our order go through? But it did since we got our drinks and bean sprouts/ mint/ jalapeños/ lemon. We knew something was up when a couple who came after us got their food before us. I was ready to up and leave since I was getting hangry but we got up to ask them if our orders were almost ready. Apparently they were having printing issues and it didn't print in the kitchen? They apologized and one of the servers says, "I was wondering why you guys weren't eating yet" lol. They offered a free iced coffee to make up for it. Saw this place on Instagram and knew I had to check it out! We came around 11am on a Sunday and there was no wait, although the restaurant started getting more packed once it approached noon. We ordered the crispy duck Bun Bo Hue and Oxtail Combo Pho, along with a sugarcane juice. The server recommended we try it with mango and calamansi, which was a very refreshing combination. The flavor of the pho was good and not too heavy. They also provided a lot of meat, although there was only one piece of oxtail in my pho unfortunately. The crispy duck was served on the side of the duck bun bo hue and the meat was deboned and cut up. The service was fantastic though since I had ordered pho with thin noodles originally, but was mistakenly given fresh noodles. Beef oxtail in the in their famous long simmered broth, sliced beef, thinly sliced onions, rice noodles. Added side garnishes of basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños and squeeze of lime wedge. You can amp the broth up with Sriracha, hoisin and/or chili crisp but this was perfect for me. I will return for this alone! Next time I might try the OXTAIL PHÓ', which is broth and oxtails only. AND add extra oxtail ($10)!!! FRESH SHRIMP SPRING ROLLS - freshly made with shrimp, vermicelli, herbs and greens with accompanying peanut sauce. A definite order on next visit. Visited Pho de Nguyen with a large party for Friday dinner and the restaurant was quite packed. The interior was very spacious and minimalistic, definitely a great place to grab an everyday meal. The service was pretty good as they were pretty attentive and friendly. I got the combination pho and thought that the broth was one of the better ones I've had in the Bay. The meat was also super tender and the portion size was plentiful. We also got the salt + pepper wings as well as the sticky wings which were both flavorful, though I definitely preferred the sticky wings. I've ordered PdN plenty of times for my catering events, and their food has always been superb. I've been to this actual location two times now, and have had a positive experience both times. My most recent visit was a few Fridays ago, when my friend and I came for lunch. The wait was maybe 10 minutes max at 1230pm. The waitress was pleasant and did a good job with checking in on us multiple times. After you sit, you scan the QR code to order. If you and your friends are sitting at the same table, note that your order will all just lump together (vs individually placing orders and paying individually). I'm sure it's easiest for the restaurant to only have one bill per table, but it would be easier for the patrons if we could split to separate bills. My son unfortunately has a *ton* of allergies, and I did like that the online ordering allowed you to check off which allergies we have so the kitchen staff could be mindful. That being said, the funny thing that happened: apparently their kitchen staff thought that my son's allergy list was a to-go order because the list was so long and at a quick glance, I guess that's what to-go orders look like. Long story short, our order took a little longer because of the mix-up, and the waitress was SO nice about it and offered to give us free drinks to apologize. I thought that was an extremely kind gesture, and my son inhaled the sugar cane juice. 10 stars for customer service :) Solid Vietnamese food if you're in the area, and would also highly recommend for catering (just don't have a huge order when I'm ordering for my own party... thanks :P ) read more

One of my favorite pho spots! Every we get here is consistently delicious, and at a good price point too. The spot is in the business area of San Bruno, so there's lots of metered street parking. They sometimes get busy during weekend dinners (especially in winter time!) And you have to write your name on a list. Seating is casual and you order on your phone after scanning. Some of my favorite things here are: the bun bo hue (perfect level of spice), roast duck, and beef carpaccio. PSA: Don't forget to pay for parking because the patrol people are on it and happy to write a ticket if you've parked and haven't paid within 5 minutes of leaving your car because you are having trouble with the app. LUNCH Hot tea- how is no one talking about this tea? It's different with a nice fragrance to it. If you like regular strong black tea, you won't be a fan. I threw some of the seasoning and jalapenos into my pho. Oxtail pho dac biet- One piece of oxtail wasn't quite enough for me to justify paying the bit of extra compared to the regular dac biet. As much as I love oxtail, I would just get dac biet instead. They have flat noodles, which are my favorite texture for noodles. The broth isn't very salty. The health conscious part of me likes this. The fat girl part of me wants a little more fish sauce. You order at your table with a QR code which can be tricky if you don't have service in the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and helpful (not used to getting this type of service when I have pho). The menu is quite extensive with a lot of things to choose from. Came here with one of our business partner mainly because the other restaurants of my pick was closed. It was a big mistake. Never in my life I got so embarrassed because of such a terrible food. Both of us ordered pho and chicken wings. The pho was so full of msg and tasted like an instant pho. It was one of the worst pho I have ever had in the bay area actually. The meat was overcooked and smelled too. The chicken wings was the absolute disgusting dish that no one should ever ordered. I feel like it should not even pass the health standard because I was almost certain the chicken was rotten or something. It smelled putrid. They tried to cover it with a boatload of fish sauce but the meat itself is just... old and freezer burnt. Someone from the health dept should probably check on them because there is no way this restaurant handled those meat properly. The restaurant is a bit close to the Starbucks on San Mateo Ave in case you're looking for parking. Went for dinner on a Sunday around 6pm, and still quite a bit of seats were available. If you sit a bit closer to the kitchen door you can see the cooks preparing food in the back, and looked well-kept from the outside looking in. I ordered the fried chicken wings and Bun bo Hue(spicy) soup(just the right amount of spice and I'm spice-sensitive), and by accident I got someone else's rare beef and beef ball pho. Not wanting to cause any trouble, I just started having at the pho I was served, and was not going to complain because it was really delicious and I would be willing to pay for it anyway if my actual order was not coming - broth was tasty and beef and beef balls and noodles were great! Then like a quarter into finishing my bowl, my fried chicken wings came in and they were good too, and staff brought my original order the BBH(Bun bo Hue) as well and told me since they made a mistake my BBH was free, which I thought was amazing because it became my dinner the following day. I was thinking, well I'm glad I didn't complain and just appreciated what was given by these kind staff! And look what happened! The woman who works there was so sweet! She even helped me put my left over BBH into 2 separate to-go containers so my noodles stayed intact for reheating the following day. My broth stood alone in the other to-go containers for reheating for the stove at home the next day. Bun bo Hue the next day was amazing, and it was reheated. So just imagine if it was fresh eating right then and there. I would totally order either the rare beef with beef balls pho or the Bun bo Hue again. What is my favorite of the two? It was the Bun bo Hue. If there's anything that could be improved at all, it could be serving the broth even more warmer than it was. It was definitely served hot, but maybe since it was a colder day when I was eating it, it cooled down faster? Food: 4 out 5 stars for my lobster and shrimp pho ++++it was good, perfectly cooked but there was too much salt in mine. It was $30! Yikes ! I guess not too bad with this inflation. My daughter had the chicken pho 5 out of 5 stars+++++, that hit the spot, the broth, mmmHmmm. It wasn't as salty and I could tell it was boiled from chicken bones for several days. I recommend the chicken pho for $15. Service: 5 out of 5. +++++ They immediately gave us water, and catered to kids with a cup of water with a straw, a plastic spoon, knife and utensils. Ambiance: I loved the atmosphere, they had spoons and bowls on the wall from Vietnam. Also, very clean too for Asian restaurants, yaddamean aka you know what I mean ? I don't come to San Bruno Ave in San Bruno often, but definitely underrated spot for pho. Free street parking, beats going all the way down to the expensive city. read more

Was very disappointed in my last few doordash orders with this restaurant to the point i do not plan on ordering from here ever again. Due to this areas availability I have given this place quite a few chances as well so this is a warranted review. Firstly portion sizes alone are terrible for the price and there is no consistency. I typically only go for the Pho Dac Biet and several times something has been off. Theres No tendon, no tripe, and meat was a squishy grey fleshy clump with a boat load of onions.. (soup on the side as this is a door dash) upon pouring the broth it completely disintegrated with 3 measly pieces of brisket and little clumps of fat. The rest of it im afraid to ask what it was since it completely disappeared into the soup! Then my friends soup was missing brisket entirely! If you dont have all ingredients to complete an order I hope the guest would be contacted. Roast duck has come in more than once Burt to a crisp and dry! But when its good its good! Some times juicy pieces with good 5 spice season especially for the price Egg noodles in the Pho on my most recent order was EXTREMELY thin and VERY doughy. You could break them apart with the roof of your mouth and werent bouncy like regular egg noodles. On a positive note the broth is good. Just wish this place was consistent. read more

Right off the bat I just want to mention that they're connected to the sugar cane juice shop next door, so if they're closed you can come here! I'll just say that everything was was delicious and came out the kitchen fast. It's spacious inside and our staff were very kind. I enjoyed the sticky wings and crispy shrimp rolls. My chicken pho (rice noodle) was flavorful and had a clear broth. You're not going to get chicken pieces w/ bones, you'll get poached chicken breast slices which were tender. My family also ordered bun bo hue and the dac biet pho with with oxtails. Their bowls had thin pho noodles but for some reason they were very short, no long noodles. (Kind of like the noodle pieces at the bottom of the bag). Other than that, the broth for both was flavorful and had a generous portion of meat. For the price, I appreciated their portion sizes for the noodles. Overall I think they pour love into their bowls of noodles, and I will come back again to try their rice plates and other appetizers too! read more

My boyfriend and I love coming here for their Pho Tai, it's one of our favorites! When it's not too busy, you can pretty much sit wherever you want, which is nice. Each table has its own QR code, so ordering is super easy. I like that you can pick different types of noodles, and I always get the rare beef on the side so I can cook it how I like. The portions are just right, leaving satisfied. Their house made chili oil is so good, whether you mix it in the soup or use it for dipping. The place is small but clean. Only downside is the bathroom could be updated and use freshener or have better airflow. read more
