It's your typical pho joint, and I'm pretty pleased with the flavor and portion of the pho, especially the quantity of meat. We used to go to Pho Cafe but I have to say Pho Saigon is better value and flavor. I was on a road trip and roadtrips, especially on the chilly California Coast, call for pho. I'm sorry I don't make the rules. I picked pho Saigon out of other spots in Daly City/SSF because of readily available parking, and went in blind, so it is surprising to me that there are so many bad reviews. They still had a good number of customers during late dinner hours on a weekend, though there was no wait. We each ordered a bowl of beef pho, I got #2. The soup was clean, not overly spiced, and slightly sweet, just the way I like it. If I had to give feedback, it was not as rich as some of my 5 star pho places, but it was a well-balanced bowl nonetheless. I appreciate that they had little containers for the sauces, and that they had chili sauce, sriracha, and hoisin. Since the pandemic I've seen many pho spots lacking some combination of the above items, all of which are crucial to my personal pho enjoyment. Prices were higher here than I am used to, but what else can I expect from SF? The lime, cilantro, and bean sprouts were all clean and fresh. There was a decent amount of meat, not huge enough, in my opinion, to justify $17 for the medium size bowl, but the meat all tasted fresh and I really liked the flavors. The tendon was tender, they did give more tripe than I am used to seeing, and most wonderfully, the brisket tasted properly seasoned, and not just dunked in the broth at the end. Decent reasonable Viet cuisine in an open airy venue. Basic, no frills and friendly enough service. Walk on in and the hostess will direct you to any open table of your choice. Sit down, scan the menu and place your order. For this visit, we chose the #58 BBQ Pork Vermicelli. Within minutes, we had our plate which we split for as this was my late afternoon "touch-up" after skipping lunch. All ingredients were fresh and on point, but nothing really too remarkable about this dish here. Reasonable amount of pork so that's a plus. I wish there was just a tad more lettuce to go with it. Competent no-nonsense meal this was. The service was fast on delivering the water too. VERDICT: Overall nothing too special here, but this fits the bill when you just want something healthier to eat that isn't fast food. Getting Here: The parking lot in this midi-sized mini-mall is rather small given all the stores here, so you have to hunt a little bit. Seems there is also Sam-Trans bus stop just outside, and hey, if you own a Mercedes (we don't), this is a good place to sit down and enjoy a meal while they are fixing your car just up the hill. read more

On an chilly Christmas Eve day, I took an extra long lunch and had a hot bowl of Bun Bo Hue. It was spicy and tangy (squeezed 3 lime wedges) and full of noodles and meat. It was fantastic. Many years have passed since I last dined at Pho Saigon, but since Z and I were already at the shopping centre last night (February 1, 2026), I suggested to DJ that we order dinner take-out from here. His immediate response was, "I thought that you didn't like that place?" True, I was not a fan of their phở, but I was willing to try them again for the sake of convenience; at 7:30 PM on a Sunday night, our options were quickly dwindling as the other restaurants I was looking at were closing at 8 PM. Pho Saigon closes at 9 PM on Sundays. The brightly lit dining room was busy, but, luckily, not so packed that I easily found an available table to sit at and peruse the menu. The venue also appeared to be clean and orderly. Pho Saigon's picture-filled menu is extensive, featuring a range of options from BEEF RICE NOODLE SOUP phở to refreshing spring rolls to classic RICE PLATES, each dish showcasing the diversity of authentic Vietnamese flavours at competitive prices. Below are what we order for take-out: CHA GIO ($9.00) - These egg rolls were fried to a perfect golden crisp. I was delighted that they remained crispy from restaurant to home. GOI CUON DAU HU ($8.50) - Good, but these fresh spring rolls didn't maintain their form once bitten, making it challenging to eat without falling apart. MI XAO TOI VOI BO LUC LAC ($21.50) - The garlic noodles were slightly al dente. The filet mignon had an unusual, sweet flavour that I could have done without, but, fortunately, it didn't ruin the dish. BUN THIT NUONG CHA GIO ($18.50) - DJ initially wanted the vegetarian version of this dish, the BUN DAU HU ($18.00) with an added fried egg roll, but since the addition would have cost an additional $3.00, rendering the price to be higher than the one with BBQ pork & egg roll, I ordered this plate for him instead. Some shrimp was found in his food which, to some would be a freebie, but to others with dietary restrictions could be problematic. DJ rated this as OK. CA PHE SU'A DA ($6.00) - Not bad, but less sweet than the flavour we expected. Service was friendly and quick. A better experience I had this time. We ordered wonton soup with extra egg noodles, chicken wings, and seafood pho TDLR: wings were crunchy but flavorless. Seafood pho had 3 pieces of shrimp and a few balls, totally not worth the 17$. The wonton soup was good and the wontons were tasty, flavorful and freshly made. Good choice. Service/ wait staff is fast however the waitress really skimped on the napkins - they aren't on the table so we had to keep finding more. The Bun Bo Hue at Pho Saigon is one of the best Bun Bo Hues I've had and one of the best around the bay I believe. I can't say the same about the other food that is available there, but I typically just go for takeout of the Bun Bo Hue itself because it's that good. The service is always nice. The one taking your order and accepting payment is nice. The restaurant itself actually looks pretty legit although I've never dined in there as I always get takeout. Came in on a weekday when the restaurant was fairly quiet, but the food still took quite a while to come out. We ordered the noodle soup, and the broth tasted much sweeter than expected, which wasn't to our liking. What disappointed us most was the service after we finished eating. Pho Saigon is in the the Westborough plaza strip and there are lots of other food and drink places in the same sahred lot as well. Parking should be easy and the space that Pho Saigon is in is quite spacious with lots of seating and a wall of windows so not a hole in the wall kind of place. Most recently, In the last few months, I had been here twice and both times I had ordered their Bun Bo Hue(or BBH for short). Think of this as spicy beef noodle soup noodles. Their recipe tastes authentic and is quite solid, although I have tasted better BBH in the San Jose Southern California areas. But for this area it is decently good. Service has been good and overall this restaurant is a respectable place to grab some authentic Vietnamese food. I had forgotten Pho Saigon existed in this plaza in South San Francisco but a friend wanted to meet up here so I was reminded they existed just a few months ago. There is plenty of opportunities to find a parking spot, just be careful as you cross the roadway to actually get through the front door. It felt like I was playing a game of Frogger, dodging cars, to get safely across. I had visited twice in a short timeframe earlier this year, and both times I ordered the Pho Tai(Flank Steak). Portioning is ok, not generous or skimpy. The broth is decent but far from the best Pho shops. We also shared an order of their Spring Rolls which was also not the best but decent. This was hands down the worst pho I've ever had. The broth was completely bland -- no depth, no flavor, nothing. Pho is supposed to be rich and comforting, and this was just hot water with noodles. Been going here for quite a few times, and while the food is quite good, the service is dreadful. Be sure to try the pho as it's authentic. Lately, the prices have skyrocketed, from about $11 for a bowl of pho to over $15, so while not exorbitant, I wouldn't say it's anywhere near value. A few smaller annoyances are that they charge for takeout containers (50 cents each), so if you wanna save money, bring your own reusable ones.
