Pho Dien did live up to its expectations. Their pho was really good. I got the pho tai bo vien with tai on the side. Their beef was really tender and flavorful. The bo vein I could've lived without, they were small and wasn't very tasty. I didn't like their "freshly" squeezed orange juice. In my opinion it was watered down and it didn't taste like it was freshly squeezed. I did try my brother's durian smoothie and that was good and creamy. This is base on my to go order: First off, they didn't even give me a chance to grab a menu to look at. Kinda shush me to one side and said order. So a second later, I ordered 3 of the large specials. Never bothered to give me an estimated time for the wait.. So I sat for around 10-15 mins, no one came out with my food. Turns out, it was just sitting in the back counter. Like hello... I'm waiting?! It's not like it was a busy day since there were only a few tables. Jeebus, so when I got home.. my pho was lifeless. No flavor. Hoison sauce & sriracha would not even help. And I swore I ordered a large, but the portion size was way off. Did not like how they gave me a puny size of veggies! Most places put the bean sprouts and basil on the side but here, it was all thrown in the same box!! Another thing, I think it's ripping people off when the thinly sliced eye round is being pounded to death like ground beef. The pho broth here is amazing. So flavorful and tasty. The rare steak, meatball, brisket, and special marinated steak were also good, but not anything you'd boast about. Overall, great food and good experience but you have to know what you're getting into... We got here at 11 on a Friday, and it was slammed. We waited for 20 min for a table for four but were seated promptly when one became available. We struggled a little bit with a language barrier with the waiter but ultimately our order came out right. I love pho and their raw beef is really good! The first time I had it was brought back by my fiancé and he cooked it (heated everything) right in front of me. The noodles and broth were bagged separately which I found sweet and considerate since I hate over-cooked noodles with a passion. Everything was fresh so I decided to bring my best friend there when she flew in from LA. She was in love with the marinated steak too and asked to come back when she visits me in the future. Pho Dien is one of the many pho places in Houston/Chinatown. I have been here a few times, and can say the pho here is pretty good. It can get very crowded here, especially during the typical eating times. The broth has a great taste and they have different size options (man that XL bowl is huge). I prefer the other Pho Dien location near Kim Son instead but that one runs out of pho so quick I have to come to this one instead. When you're in the mood for fast service, hot noodle soup with quality meat, this is the place to go. At certain times this place can be a bit inconsistent. Sometimes the pho is not hot, and I prefer my soup hot. I recommend the Pho Dac Biet or the Pho Uop (marinated steak). Good Pho! one of the best in the Bellaire area. Essentially the only place my dad would eat and he is a pho expert. He could eat here almost everyday! Staff are relatively attentive and efficient. The broth is delicious - clear, flavorful, and light unlike other places that has fatty thick broth that sticks on your lips for hours after. Thanks to my friend, QP N., for introducing me to my new favorite place for Pho. Came for lunch recently and we had decent wait as expected. Come early and be prepared to wait outside for a little while because this place is popular and for good reason. Let the waiter inside know how many people in your group and name. He will come outside and call your name as seating becomes available. The Pho is really awesome. I had the Pho Tai which is one of their House Specialties. The quality of the meat was just so good. Good flavor and tender, it was def seasoned well. Their pho is really good and I consider it one of the best places in Houston (after my mom's pho of course). They are really generous with the meat and the noodles and offer a variety of sizes: small starts at 4.95 and x-large is 7.95. They even offer the super bowl but I'm not sure of the price. Other than pho, this place offers only Bun Bo Hue, tapioca drinks, and some Vietnamese desserts. I've been back 3 times already and soup and everything has been consistent. Other things you might want to know: 1) Bring cash 2) Crowded at lunchtime and can get very hot. Usually I'm not a big fan of Pho but seeing as how I'm Vietnamese, i've grown up eating it for weeks on end and naturally i've grown accustomed to it. Of course, since this is Houston, there are probably a gazillion pho places in the area but my parents, who consider themselves the best pho critics (cringe but true to some extent), ate at Pho Dien once and our lips have never tasted another pho restaurant ever again. They are IN LOVE with this place and I, having to eat it pretty much every other week for the past 4 years, have grown to love it as well. After a quick Yelp search, I decided on Pho Dien because of the many great reviews and close proximity. Upon entering, I noticed that the place was pretty packed at 1:30 and a curt woman showed me to my table for one and dropped off a menu. I quickly decided on the only chicken pho bowl available and waited for someone to take my order. People came and went, but it seemed that nobody was willing to return to take my order even after all my arm waving and 15 minutes of patience. Service here is terrible. Pho is not even that good. It's just typical pho like every where else except they tenderize their meat (beat it with a block of metal like you do to make chicken fried chicken). Great food for a great price. The broth is good and soothing and the noodles are soft and nice. One of my top pho restaurants in Chinatown. It's a small restaurant so during weekend lunch hours, the restaurant gets packed pretty quickly but the wait is not too long at all. We often went to Pho Tau Bai on Beechnut for noodle. Not until we discovered this place. Smaller, warmer service and Pho tastes like heaven. The way the prepare rare beef is quite different, it's softer and not chewy. The meat taste as if it's melt in your mouth with only a small chewing on your part. I think they tenderizer their rare meat with some special seasoning. Hope you check them out. Oh by way, service is warm and friendly..that is a magnet in addition to good taste.
