The bánh khọt looked promising at first because the edges were crispy, but the center underneath the shrimp was extremely soggy and lacked flavor. The texture was disappointing overall, and the dish tasted bland and underwhelming. That said, I'm willing to give the restaurant another try since they offer many other dishes on the menu. It's a bit of a drive for me, so I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return specifically for this dish, but if I happen to be in the area again, I'd be open to trying some of their other offerings. read more

Out of the options on their menu, I ordered hu tieu mi kho (dry version). Taste was meh. Biggest gripe was the meats. Didn't expect for 75-80% of the meats to be pork intestine/kidney/liver. The first thing I want to mention is the service was pretty good. We were seated immediately , and the servers were very attentive. They have plenty of options to choose from. Price was from $14 to $20, but their potion was good. Their seasoning is kind of south east Vietnam region, which is a little bit sweet and salty. I came here with my family, and I think this is my new go to spot for Vietnamese food. The food is made on the spot, and any fried stuff comes out sizzling and absolutely delicious. Nothing is too salty when we ate. Their sauce was a good balance of tartness combined with the dish. Oc Nhay - Hap Sa - (Lemongrass conch snail) - the broth was very flavorful, and for the amount of snails they provide for that price was unbeatable. We ended up drinking the whole broth. Banh Khot Vung Tau - Seafood mini shrimp pancake - Absolutely delicious. Takes about 15 minutes for them to make because each batter has to be pour individually. They usually have a combination of meat, shrimp, and squid, but we opted for just seafood. Bun Dau Mam Tom - one of my favorite dishes - it's a combination of meat intestine with some very crispy tofu and fishcake. I'm not a fan of their packed noodles, but everything else was top-notch. The food tasted really authentic. Our favorites would have to be the Banh Khot Vung Tau and Banh Khot. They were crisp to perfection at the edges and full of flavor, the nuoc mam and veggies paired perfectly with it. I visited this newish vietnamese restaurant one Sunday for lunch. I heard it had a lot of similar dishes from other vietnamese restaurants, but they just cook it differently here. I came with a small group, and we tried a couple of apps (banh bot chien and banh khot) and several dishes. I wasn't in the mood for their soups, so I just stuck to something interesting they make, chicken fried rice. The chicken fried rice is not what most would think, instead it's a fried chicken quarter with an orange marinade, along with a side of fried rice, acup of pho broth, a weird orange sauce to dip your chicken, and a cup of soy sauce. Their banh bot chien is probably one of their most popular dish and it was extra crispy. Exactly what you would expect it to be and the sauce goes so well with it. The bun rieu oc is what I was looking forward to because it's one of those Viet dish that you don't see it often on the menu. Let me just start with saying that this place does their Bún (noodle soup) dishes very well. From Bún bò huế (spicy beef noodle soup) to Bún riêu (crab&pork tomato noodle soup) , their noodle soup dishes are phenomenal and brings forward the culture of Vietnamese cuisine. Their portions are no joke, they include every detail like tofu and chả while maintaining a flavorful broth in each dish. For the more explorative peeps, the Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm (vermicelli with fermented shrimp paste) the sauce was tasty (sweet)! This is not a dish that you can commonly find so it was nice to see it being highlighted as their special dish. The Bánh khọt (mini savory pancakes) was a fun dish to eat if you wanted to change up the texture. It was a great crunchy mixture of sweet and savory with the coconut and nước mắm (fish sauce), this dish has to be eaten quickly as they get soggy after being left out. The place can get crowded on a weekend with a bigger party (ours was 10 people) but the service was quick and our food came out in an orderly manner. This is quite possibly one of the best Vietnamese hole in the wall places you'll ever eat at. I saw a few photos of some potential dishes and knew exactly what I wanted to order. Banh Khot - ah the BEST dish of the visit. the crunch to soft ratio, plus every bite I took just put my soul into heaven. I didn't want it to end, even when my stomach was coming to it's fullness. The dish took a bit of time to come out and it was well worth the wait. I couldn't stop smiling of how good this dish was. I even posted it on instagram and received so many responses of where to find it. I wasn't going to gatekeep, cause I want my friends to know where to find this gem. Salted Kumquat - I feel as though this is an acquired taste. If you didn't grow up drinking this, then it might not be for you. But for me, it was delicious! You eat it wrapped in all the fresh greens and dipped into fish sauce. So so good. My plate came with 10 pieces and was so delicious. My jaw DROPPED when they placed it on our table. I also ordered the pickled kumquat drink (a must) and the coconut snails. Yes, coconut snails or Öc Len Xão Dua! These little suckers are deliciously cooked in a lemongrass coconut sauce. Pro tip on how to eat these - open up the bottom and suck it out! My friend ordered the Bun Mam (fermented fish noodle soup) and I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup). My son had the Banh Canh (Tapioca Noodle in a Pork broth and I had to try the lemongrass snails. The dishes looked fantastic when they came out. My friend said the Bun Mam was a bit on the sweet side and wasn't the best she's had. I had to agree with that statement when it came to the Bun Bo Hue as well. We first ordered the HỘT VỊT LỘN XÀO ME (Tamarind sauce balut) for an appetizer and it was a good choice. The dish comes with three eggs and was topped with the tamarind sauce, fried pork fat/onion bits, roasted peanuts, and laksa leaves. For the main dish, we got the Bánh Canh Cua (tapioca noodle soup with crab). This was the first time I tried Bánh Canh Cua and I was a little taken back by how strong the fishy taste was but for my Vietnamese friend, she said it was perfect so I trust her critique more than mine. To lighten the soup, I added some lime juice and it was good. Something I really appreciated about this dish is the large amount of crab meat they put in. Even in third world countries (such as Vietnam) do not do this type of non service. Table is still sticky, piece of bean sprout was still on table.
